    Ep 1055 - Win over Iowa Jan 31, 2024

If you are going to be in Bloomington this weekend, join us at Upstairs to watch the IU v Penn St game, then stick around for a live taping of Assembly Call.

Ep 1054 - Crossover Episode with Jerod Morris Jan 23, 2024
    Show notes

It is Bye Week for IU basketball, which means it's a good time to check in with Back Home Network patriarch and Assembly Call host Jerod Morris to talk about what we've witnessed out of IU men's basketball this year. We talk more specifically about the situations this team has found itself in strategically and schematically, and discuss the roster shortcomings and question marks around how the team was constructed. There's some discussion of recruiting ramifications, portal usage, and what exactly makes IU an attractive destination for players moving forward. We also discuss our thoughts on how this season is likely to end, and what sorts of things IU can do to ensure that the program's trajectory is in good shape headed into the offseason, given what's already occured this season.

Ep 1053 - Micro and Macro with Zach Osterman Jan 23, 2024
    Show notes

Zach Osterman of the Indy Star joins the podcast for a discussion about the forces surrounding the reactions to IU men's basketball struggling this season. Are fans being unfair in evaluating a team that most thought would have to take a step back this season? Does the current coaching staff have to pay for the sins of previous coaching staffs? Or are the reactions to losses to so many superior teams tied into a reasonable set of concerns about program trajectory? That and more, plus some talk at the end about the first two months of the Cignetti era of IU football, on this episode of CrimsonCast.

Ep 1052 - What Indiana WBB's Loss to Iowa and Win Over Purdue Mean Going Forward Jan 23, 2024
    Show notes

This week, Kevin and Amanda dive into Indiana's loss to Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and the Hoosiers' wins over Minnesota and Purdue, discussing what all of those games mean for the team going forward. They touch on the state of the Big Ten overall and talk about what Indiana needs to focus on in their week-long midseason break.

Ep 1051 - When The Apathy Hits Jan 18, 2024
    Show notes

Scott and Galen are back, talking about IU men's basketball and the exceedingly disappointing performance against Purdue on Tuesday. We chat about the core problems with the way the team is playing, some of the larger roster construction and maintenance issues, and a worrying lack of team culture. We also chat about how much of this is fixable, how much of it was inevitable, and what happens next.

Ep 1050 - College Sports Business with SBJ's Ben Portnoy Jan 18, 2024
    Show notes

On a special episode of CrimsonCast, the doctor gets a chance to sit down with Sports Business Journal's Ben Portnoy (an IU Sports Media alumnus) for a conversation about many of the market forces shaping and changing college sports. We discuss NIL, coaching compensation, player movement, the Ohio State AD situation, and where Title IX may fit into the NCAA's proposed NIL legislation.
