We discuss Victor Oladipo's entrance to the IU Athletics Hall of Fame and how to contextualize his career in an Indiana uniform. We also discuss the change in format to Hoosier Hysteria and discuss some of our memories of earlier Hysteria programs. Finally we talk about the recent notice of allegations delivered to Michigan football.

Ep 1110 - First Day of Football Jul 31, 2024
    Show notes

Indiana had its first day of summer/fall camp today, which is as good a reason as any for an all-football CrimsonCast episode. Taylor Lehman from Bite Sized Bison joins GC to talk through some questions from the IU fan base, including a look at early attendance projections for the 2024 season, Curt Cignetti’s Big Ten Media Day comments and whether those sorts of things matter in the big scheme of things, and what IU’s first-year identity will (or should) be.

Ep 1109 - Big Ten Media Days Jul 26, 2024
    Show notes

Big Ten football media days are back! We talk about Curt Cignetti’s big splash, the buzz being generated by the new coach and his staff, and how that can relate to team success. We also take a look at the college football video game through Scott’s eyes, and talk a little bit about non-conference basketball scheduling.

Ep 1108 - Video Game Thoughts and NIL Settlement Update Jul 20, 2024
    Show notes

On today’s podcast, I take a look at the new NCAA CFB 25 college football video game. I’ve been playing it for a week now and have some observations on where the game is doing well, but also where there are problems. At this point the game is neither a home run nor a catastrophe, and we delve into the details in the first segment.
Then (21:30) it’s on to covering the latest in the NIL / House settlement, and why it hasn’t gotten here yet. There’s some unfortunate but predictable infighting going on in the settlement process, and a real chance that the court refuses to accept the settlement even if those items are solved. I talk a bit about those items and how the courts might evaluate the situation as a whole.

    Ep 1107 - Basketball Non-Conference Schedule Thoughts Jul 13, 2024
    Show notes

On a weekend edition of CrimsonCast, GC takes a look at the recently announced IU men’s basketball non-conference schedule. Was it a smart set of scheduling decisions? Why was the reception to the announcement so negative? And what does IU need to do against the schedule to have success this year?
We also discuss the announcement of the new Adidas contract, and the changes in how apparel deals with college athletics programs are going to work moving forward.

    Ep 1106 - Summer Holiday Episode Jul 04, 2024
    Show notes

It’s a holiday edition of CrimsonCast, as Scott and GC talk about some items bubbling in the IU universe. We discuss the impending release of the College Football video game and our generation’s history with the series, the college football hall of fame, some possible on-field and jersey sponsors for IU, and why the college football game may end up as a great NIL fundraising opportunity.
    Happy 4th of July everyone!

Ep 1105 - Football Seating Changes, NBA Draft Success, and more Jun 30, 2024
    Show notes

Scott and Galen reunite on the last day of June to talk about a bunch of IU and college sports related things. Included in the show is a discussion of Scott’s latest wine excursions, the shifting football seating arrangements, IU’s NBA draft success, and some more on the changing NIL landscape.

    Ep 1104 - Weekend Check-In Jun 28, 2024
    Show notes

A new episode of CrimsonCast, as the doctor talks about NIL events, fundraising, NCAA coaching limits being raised, and the general separation of upper-tier athetic departments from the lower and middle classes. We also answer audience questions about football recruiting, basketball scheduling, football scheduling, and more.
