Episode 82 True Crime: The Unique and Mysterious Death of Stephen Hilder Mar 04, 2021

Show notes

Week 8 of The Bachelor, we saw Rachael Kirkconnell have a skydiving hometown date (that told us nothing about her being from Georgia). Rachael did not have the softest landing, we are glad that she is ok, but think our BIPOC ancestors had a hand in that and we thank them!

Danielle covers the 2003 mysterious death in Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, of Stephen Hilder. Stephen was a young, but experienced, skydiver that plummeted to his death during a national competition. Stephen’s death was immediately suspicious based on the way his parachute was tampered with. The question still lingers as to whether Stephen’s death was murder or suicide.

Episode 81 The Bachelor: Women Tell None (Season 25, Week 9 with Special Guests Liv and Bix, of ITM with Liv and Bix) Mar 03, 2021

Show notes

It’s time for the Women Tell All and we are joined by our amazing friends Liv and Bix, of ITM with Liv and Bix!

But, before we can get into any of that, we spend some time addressing the most recent Bachelor Nation controversy, the past tweets of Taylor Nolan. These tweets are incredibly hurtful, disgusting, and harmful to almost every marginalized community that you can think of. We do not read any of the tweets, as many contain slurs and violent language, but we do discuss recent events surrounding them. CONTENT WARNING for this discussion.

At the Women Tell All, it’s very much a rehash of the same drama we’ve been talking about all season. We don't even see Victoria get grilled in the hot seat. We also see deleted footage of several group dates and, of course, bloopers! There is a lot of screen time for the man who should be fired, and just a sweet reminder, #FIRECHRISHARRISON.

Our POC highlight of the week goes to Khalyah Epps! She is the 28 year old healthcare advocate, from Durham, North Carolina. We loved to see Khaylah back on our screen, as she had dropped some words of wisdom that the ladies and Bachelor Nation needed to hear! Will she be heading to the sandy BIP beach?

Episode 80 True Crime: Gallaudet University Murders of Eric Pluckett and Benjamin Varner Feb 26, 2021

Sweet reminder, FIRE CHRIS HARRISON!

Episode 77 True Crime: The Fires of Paul Kenneth Keller, the Pyromaniac Feb 18, 2021

Show notes

On week 5 of The Bachelor, Sarena C. called Katie out for all the drama she seemed to be inserting herself in. Sarena called Katie an arsonist and says she is setting little fires everywhere.

Danielle tells the twisted story of another person setting actual fires all over the Seattle, Washington area (where Katie is from). Paul Kenneth Keller was obsessed with setting fires since he was 8 years old. The criminal profile, created by John Douglas, is right on the money.

Paul’s fires did take the lives of thee people at the Four Freedoms Retirement Home and he is a possible suspect in many more fire-related deaths.

Episode 76 The Bachelor: The Colossal Chris Harrison Kerfuffle (Season 25, Week 7) Feb 16, 2021

Show notes

WOW. It has been a week for the history books in Bachelor Nation. There is so much going on, and honestly have to talk about it.

We discuss recent events with friends Ash from Ash Talks Bach and Julia from Bachelor Theory. Megan created a summary guide for those interested, with many links to sources and further listening, watching, or reading. This guide is specifically to help white listeners to grow in their Allyship of the BIPOC community. That guide is available HERE and below, under “Links discussed in the episode.” (Conversation starts at 33:42).

Given these recent events, and a call for a boycott of this episode, we did not want Matt’s season’s ratings to be affected and the franchise to use that as an excuse to not have another Black male lead. We also wanted to focus on the amazing women of color contestants that have been cast on this season.

With that in mind, we have decided to only talk about the POC in this episode. We see a one on one with Serena P, a group date, and a one on one with Jessenia.

Our POC highlight of the week go to BOTH Chelsea and Abigail, who both go home. Other POC going home include: Serena C, Jessinia, and Pieper.
