    Our Next CoreBrain Journal Episode

143 Elicia Miller - In our culture and most families, we often don't receive the support to process many of our emotions, and so we continue to repress them by distracting and numbing ourselves and through controlling and addictive behaviors.

Elicia realized that unprocessed emotions cause chronic emotional and physical symptoms, as well as relationship problems. Elicia helps her clients understand their symptoms and triggers as a gift. Her mission is to value all of their emotions as a necessary part of their authentic selves.

    Healing With Intention

Elicia’s journey of healing her underlying medical issues with systemic Candida gave her the experience to guide hundreds to freedom from digestive problems and chronic fatigue.

With that advanced biomedical understanding, she next found the connections between anxiety, depression, autoimmune disease, eating disorders, codependency, addictions, poor body image, and perfectionism. In this CBJ Episode, she also discusses how healing the emotional causes can resolve those multiple states of arrested development.

This combination of combined biomedical and reconstructive emotional challenges underscores what one can accomplish with an overview of total self-ownership and self-care strategies.

141 Details For The End of Autism – Walsh Aug 10, 2017
    Show notes

Details For The End Of AutismFrom The CBJ Walsh Molecular Series: 4 of 4 Fresh molecular insights from informed laboratory assessments inform both practitioners and parents about how we now find ourselves approaching the end of autism.~ William WalshEnd? Yes, You Read That Correctly - Here's HowAutism Markers Set The Stage For The End Of AutismDr. Bill Walsh is an international thought leader, and is, without question, the most frequently downloaded expert for our thousands of listeners here at CBJ. This heartwarming Episode on autism markers further explores his increasingly constructive medical perceptions as they relate not only to autism markers but the future of mind science. On A Personal NoteYou can tell from our conversations that I know Dr. Walsh very well. Bill is not a poser. He's not bombastic or hyperbolic in his thinking or presentations. He is a disarmingly genuine guy with a humility that makes him a bit uncomfortable with this, his new perspective on the End of Autism. He's exceedingly careful in every discussion not to embellish the facts, but to describe the data as it is, rather than what it might otherwise appear to be with a vivid imagination. His research numbers, his live, hand's on, enduring clinical experience with thousands of autistic patients over the years, inarguably sets him apart as an unusual, indeed exemplary, researcher/practitioner who lives within a refreshingly contextual data-reality of both applications over time and measured outcomes.Autism Understandings Target Improved InterventionsNo matter your perspective on autism spectrum challenges professionally or personally, you won't have to search far to see the implication for how the application of these dramatic insights with autism markers will change the future for the entire spectrum of mind science - from personality to behavior, to self-management to the most hopeless of mental conditions. One cannot overstate the global implications of Bill's work.Actionable Evolution For The MindNo matter your station in life, from high school to doctorate, to struggling parents living miles from any town, this Episode will in a short time become the most hopeful, most risky, most groundbreaking of all our interviews. Here Dr. Walsh connects dots that spell a different future for all of us who care about the big picture, the evolution of the human mind.More specifically, in this CBJ/141 Episode, Bill describes in useful detail multiple striking perspectives regarding the clinical development of the use of autism markers to address the reality of epigenetic, molecular and biomedical imbalances that trouble thousands of children and adults. I well remember my reaction of surprise when Dr. Walsh first, somewhat hesitatingly, hinted at the evolution of this extraordinary topic, The End of Autism - during our meeting with Walsh Institute Training student-professionals last year.Your Walsh Homework If You Haven't Prepared | 3 Previous SpecialsMethylation - CBJ/115 - Start At This Link - Essential Brain FunctionCopper & Kryptopyrrole - CBJ/137 - Next Step For Multiple ConditionsSchizophrenia & Bipolar - CBJ/042 - Applied Molecular InsightsWalsh Neuroscience Presentation on Bipolar At American Psychiatric Association. [Added 5-20-18]If This Is Your First Meeting: About Dr. WalshWilliam J. Walsh, Ph.D., FACN, president of the non-profit Walsh Research Institute, is an internationally recognized expert in the field of nutritional medicine and a key scientist paving the way for nutrient-based psychiatry and nutritional medicine. Over the past 30 years, Dr. Walsh has developed biochemical treatments for patients diagnosed with behavioral disorders, attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, autism, clinical depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease that are used by doctors throughout the world. This is the best website training for anyone on the Family side to connect with the latest mind science for Autism Global Recovery. His book, Nutrient Power: Heal Your Biochemistry and Heal Your Brain, describes specific findings for his evidence-based nutrient therapy system. Why Listen?Dr. Walsh’s noted accomplishments include:groundbreaking studies reporting reduced violent behavior following nutrient therapy, the 1999 discovery of undermethylation and copper/zinc imbalances in autism, the 2000 finding of metallothionein protein depletion in autism, the 2007 published study linking copper overload and post-partum depression, the identification of five measurable biochemical subtypes of clinical depression, the 2011 development of the Walsh Theory of Schizophrenia [CBJ/042], andthe direction of the Beethoven Research Project that revealed that the composer suffered from severe lead poisoning.and now this groundbreaking set of insights on autism markers that set new objectives: The End of Autism CBJ/141.His internationally acclaimed presentations from Japan to Australia and Scandinavia, including a warm reception at the American Psychiatric Association, affirm his outstanding contributions to both functional and traditional medical groups.[caption id="attachment_2860" align="alignright" width="300"] Parker and Walsh at our first meeting: ACAM 2013[/caption]Clinical ExperienceAfter earning degrees from Notre Dame and the University of Michigan, Dr. Walsh received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Iowa State University. While working at Argonne National Laboratory in the 1970s, Dr. Walsh organized a prison volunteer program that led to studies of prisoners and ex-offenders - to research the causes of their violent behaviors. It's important to note that the collaboration with renowned (late) Carl C. Pfeiffer, MD, Ph.D., a pioneer in the field of nutritional research therapy, led Dr. Walsh to the development of individualized nutrient protocols to normalize body chemistry and brain chemistry. Dr. Walsh went on to study more than 30,000 patients with mental disorders acquiring a unique database of more than 3 million chemical assays throughout his clinical and research work.Experience With Biomedical UnderstandingsTo add emphasis to his clinical expertise, Dr. Walsh conducted chemical analysis of more than 25 serial killers and mass murderers, including Charles Manson, Richard Speck, James Oliver Huberty, Patrick Sherrill and Arthur Shawcross. He has assisted medical examiners, coroners, Scotland Yard, and the FBI in these forensics studies. He has designed nutritional programs for Olympic athletes, NBA players, major league baseball players, a heavyweight boxing champion, PGA and LPGA golfers, and others.Repeated Irrational Behaviors: Biomedical TestingNo, you don't have to be a mass murderer to benefit from these improved, easily measured, cost-effective data points. My most common clinical indication for more involved clinical testing is exceedingly basic: repeated failure with multiple hospitalizations and a shotgun array of psychiatric meds from antidepressants, to stimulants, to atypical antipsychotics for a Paleolithic, woefully outdated DSM-5 appearance-diagnosis.In two words: Treatment Failure is the indication for biomedical testing and is well on its way to becoming the new, informed standard of care.-----------Dr. Walsh Reports On Autism AdvancesI'm also excited about discoveries regarding bipolar disorder [spp-timestamp time="04:45"]I started working with autistic patients in the late 1990s [spp-timestamp time="07:00"]The incidence of undermethylation in autism - almost 100% [spp-timestamp time="09:50"]Epigenetics of undermethylation [spp-timestamp time="10:34"]Our undermethylation club [!] [spp-timestamp time="13:27"]Recovery statistics [spp-timestamp time="21:03"]Sponsor Notes: The Berry Robinson Center & Direct Health Access Laboratory [spp-timestamp time="22:01"]Early intervention is everything [spp-timestamp time="25:05"]The relevance of metallothionein [spp-timestamp time="26:13"]The ultimate answer is [targeted] prevention [spp-timestamp time="32:28"]The good news is that testing now tells us how [spp-timestamp time="36:40"]Comments on mercury and metallothionein [spp-timestamp time="39:57"]Notes on the diagnosis: 'classical autism' changed in 2005 [spp-timestamp time="44:30"]Coming back to CBJ to review what-to-next [spp-timestamp time="48:57"]-------------Get on Dr. Walsh's Book Drawing below ↓ - it's closed in two weeks. -----------Forward This End of Autism Link To a Friendhttp://corebrainjournal.com/141-----------Dr. Walsh's Book & References:Walsh, Dr. William J. Bioengineering Takes Tragic Handicaps Out Of The Darkness

139 Adam Piore - author of The Body Builders: Inside the Science of The Engineered Human - chronicles the ways new technology has retooled our physical expectations and mental processes. Piore visits people who have regrown parts of their fingers and legs in the wake of terrible traumas, tries on a muscle suit that allows him to lift ninety pounds with his fingertips, dips into the race to create “Viagra for the brain,” and shadows the doctors trying to give mute patients the ability to communicate telepathically. Fasten your seatbelts for a dizzying trip into fresh mind and body regions.

Bioengineering activities address far more than just getting around with minimal support. Here Adam discusses his profound experiences with those who thought they would remain crippled and broken forever.

    Prosthetic Connections

Do you know someone who suffers from the challenges of physical trauma, who lost a limb? This fresh perspective offers evolved bioengineering diagnostic and treatment options, and in this CBJ Episode takes recovery choices beyond simple prosthesis into the unexpected land of improved performance.

    138 Migraines Headaches Tinnitus & Malocclusion – Rosenthal Aug 01, 2017
    Show notes

Connections Matter: Headache Pain, Migraines & Tinnitus

    Often Arise From Dental Malocclusion

Dr. Ron Rosenthal - Here Rosenthal weighs in on multiple biomedical pain and mind connections with migraines. With degrees in dentistry, biology, education, and a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, he left Eastern Virginia's tidewater for the hills of Kentucky, where he taught at the dental school there. He's a geographic neighbor now back in Hampton Roads, VA, is retired, and, as you will soon see, deeply opinionated about specific dental challenges that directly affect brain function through unrelenting head pains. Until our interview, however, we had never previously met.

Know someone who suffers from migraines, headaches, or tinnitus? This fresh perspective offers evolved diagnostic and treatment options, not on the traditional headache radar.

    Treatment Failure & Migraines

During his teaching tenure, he became a co-director of the division of occlusion. That's the track where they teach details about headaches, migraines, and closely associated tinnitus. After appointment as the director of the Treatment Planning Division, he began to understand these connections more completely. Dr. Rosenthal brings years of experience to one of the most commonly missed contributory conditions that create migraine pain: dental challenges.

Yes, you read that correctly. Small dental misalignments are measured and corrected in challenges that arise in less than a millimeter of dental enamel. Ron tells us how he's worked this out for many stuck in years with dramatic pain and tinnitus.

    Why Discuss Migraines And Tinnitus?

In a word, these several conditions often arise from previously unknown connections. Tinnitus is often directly linked to migraines and headache pain, and far too often these dots, those crossroads, exist in a disconnected, under-appreciated but imperative, biomedical reality. In this CBJ/138 Dr. Rosenthal discusses multiple connections, he's personally witnessed and successfully treated over the years.

The new scientific frontier is the human body: the greatest engineers of our generation have turned their sights inward, and their work now starts to revolutionize humankind. Piore's book, The Body Builders, takes us on a fascinating journey into the field of bioengineering—which can be used to reverse engineer, rebuild, and augment human beings—and paints a vivid portrait of the people at the center of these remarkable biomedical improvements.

    Piore Reports On Options

Chronicling the ways new technology has retooled our physical expectations and mental processes, Piore visits people who have regrown parts of their fingers and legs in the wake of terrible traumas. He tries on a muscle suit that allows him to lift ninety pounds with his fingertips, and dips into the supplement race to create “Viagra for the brain.” He also shadows the doctors trying to give mute patients the ability to communicate telepathically. Are you skeptical? Fasten your seat belts and listen up. If you know anyone with a serious physical injury, this Episode takes us all to remarkably innovative different lands for improved recovery opportunities.

Copper and Kryptopyrrole Details For Treatment Failure - 2

From The CBJ Walsh Molecular Series: 2 of 4

A common problem in ADHD, behavior disorders, and hormonal depression is a genetic inability to control copper, zinc, manganese, and other trace metals in the body due to improper functioning of the metallothionine protein. These patients are often deficient in trace metals, amino acids, and Vitamin B-6 and overloaded in others. They must avoid supplements and "enriched" foods containing copper..
    ~ William Walsh

This Copper & Kryptopyrrole Walsh Molecular Series Republished

    Dr. Walsh Digs Deeper

Dr. Bill Walsh describes in useful detail during this Episode from one of the three top downloads at CBJ [this is a republication [2] of the CBJ/034 download] that numbers now in the thousands. We think copper and kryptopyrrole imbalances bear repeating for all the new listeners not only because of their documented listening track record here but because they remain so overlooked and so frequently causal in treatment failure globally.

In this Episode he clarifies how easy, cost-effective measurement and correction of unbalanced copper and kryptopyrrole levels caused by, for example, combat stress can significantly add to depression, even psychosis, and fans the flames of substance abuse. Just remember, psych meds don’t touch these underlying measurable biomedical imbalances.

Think: molecular physiology arrives at the street level. Yes, this data is available in the urban landscape of Birdsnest, Virginia on the Eastern Shore.

PTSD, TBI, PMS, and estrogen dominance are all often associated with these biomedical findings – all of these can become amplified, measurable and correctable. Accurate measures must become a part of every future stress-recovery process. If you don't measure and treat it, it will not respond to psychiatric medications.

    Copper [Cu] Overview:

"Copper-overloaded depressives usually report that serotonin-enhancing antidepressants provide an improvement in moods, but they worsen anxiety. Benzodiazepines such as Klonopin and Xanax can be effective in reducing anxiety but are reported to have little effect on depression for this biotype. High-copper females are usually intolerant of birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy since these treatments increase copper levels in the blood. [96% of this biotype are women.]"[1]

Consider chronic fatigue [CFS], terrible PMS with PMDD, and pervasive irritation with profound anxiety down to the marrow of your bones.

    Walsh Kryptopyrrole [Kp] Overview:

"Pyrrole disorder typically involves high anxiety, poor behavioral control, a reading disorder, impaired immune function, and other troubling symptoms. We observe severe pyrrole levels in persons diagnosed with violent behaviors, depression, schizophrenia, and other serious mental disorders.

A significant number of undermethylated depression patients exhibit some degree of pyrrole disorder. Many persons with this combination of imbalances show high accomplishment throughout life, but report extreme internal anxiety and poor stress control along with depression. Since both undermethylation and pyrrole disorder present often with low serotonin activity, depression is usually more severe in these cases. Our database studies indicate persons with this hybrid condition are more likely to report suicidal thoughts compared to individuals with any other form of depression."[1]

    Clinical Experience

After earning degrees from Notre Dame and the University of Michigan, Dr. Walsh received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Iowa State University. While working at Argonne National Laboratory in the 1970s, Dr. Walsh organized a prison volunteer program that led to studies of prisoners and ex-offenders researching the causes of their violent behavior.

The collaboration with renowned (late) Carl C. Pfeiffer, MD, Ph.D., a pioneer in the field of nutritional research therapy, led Dr. Walsh to the development of individualized nutrient protocols to normalize body chemistry and brain chemistry. Dr. Walsh went on to study more than 30,000 patients with mental disorders acquiring a unique database of more than 3 million chemical assays during his clinical and research work.

N.B. Dr. Walsh has conducted chemical analysis of more than 25 serial killers and mass murderers, including Charles Manson, Richard Speck, James Oliver Huberty, Patrick Sherrill and Arthur Shawcross. He has assisted medical examiners, coroners, Scotland Yard, and the FBI in these forensics studies. He has designed nutritional programs for Olympic athletes, NBA players, major league baseball players, a heavyweight boxing champion, PGA and LPGA golfers, and others. You don't have to be a mass murderer to have an imbalance of brain chemistry.

Repeated Irrational Behaviors: You don't have to be a mass murderer to benefit from these improved data points. Our common clinical indication: repeated failure with multiple hospitalizations and a shotgun array of atypical antipsychotics for "Bipolar Disorder."

Start With This Important Methylation Finding:

Methylation is a biochemical process of extraordinary importance in human functioning. It may be defined as the addition of a methyl group (CH3) to an atom or molecule. Methyl groups participate in dozens of chemical reactions in the body and brain that are essential to physical and mental health. In addition, methylation status is a major factor in a person’s personality and traits. For example, undermethylation is associated with perfectionism, strong will, high accomplishment, OCD tendencies, and seasonal allergies. Typical features of overmethylation include excellent socialization skills, many friendships, non-competitiveness, artistic or musical interests, chemical and food sensitivities, and a tendency for high anxiety. Unstuck Reports: Celebrity Anxiety And Depression

Life is in the striving, not the arriving.
    ~ Seth Swirsky

Seth Swirsky is a consultant/coach for media professionals in Beverly Hills, CA. His experience on several levels dealing with celebrity anxiety addresses specific challenges for all of us.

A New Haven, Connecticut native, Seth is a self-described "manic expressive," an American pop music songwriter (including the Grammy-nominated "Tell It To My Heart"), an author, a recording artist, a filmmaker, a political writer and a noted baseball memorabilia collector.

Listen to hear brief remarks about the artists who performed his songs. He's been there. Seth may already be on your radar if you love pop music. He wrote the #1 smash hit song Tell It To My Heart for Taylor Dayne amongst many other hits for the likes of Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Al Green and Olivia Newton-John. Baseball lovers may have read one or all of Seth’s three bestselling books, Baseball Letters, Every Pitcher Tells A Story or Something to Write Home About.

In addition to baseball, Swirsky is also a huge fan of The Beatles. His full-length documentary, Beatles Stories, was chosen as an Official Selection at the 2011 European Independent Film Festival - considered the Sundance of Europe - and had its world premiere in Paris, France on April 3, 2011.

This award was followed by premiering in several notable festivals throughout the country. Beatles Stories was nominated for Best Score for an Indie Film or Documentary at the 2013 Hollywood Music and Media Awards.

    Seth's Anxiety Conquered - Strategy & Tactics

Seth is a delightful person with street experience from his own conflicts with celebrity anxiety. This Episode is a Must Listen for many reasons - not the least of which is Seth's warm good humor and can-do, get-it-done, yet humble and engaging personality. He's a celebrity who manages the different realities of celebrity self-management from fresh perspectives.

    Seth's Book and Perspective

Now Swirsky brings his artistry to the psychology field with his unique new self-help book, 21 Ways to a Happier Depression: A Creative Guide to Getting Unstuck from Anxiety, Setbacks, and Stress,

His earthy, engaging observations connect with useful mindset options at the street level beyond the hallowed halls of celebrity detachment.

Designed originally as a coffee table art book, 21 Ways offers simple and easily doable ideas for anyone struggling with anxiety and depression. Written in a breezy, conversational style [quite obvious in our conversation], the book is filled with 24 original watercolor pictures by the American artist, Kirsten Tradowsky. Not a linear chapter book or workbook, readers can open to any page at any time for a new idea to help take down their stress level. It's an invigorated, unorthodox opportunity for an instant Reality Reframe.

Seth wrote 21 Ways to change your mind.

Swirsky, a Dartmouth College graduate with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a thriving Beverly Hills practice says, “I wanted to make this book feel like it’s your friend — that, whenever you needed help, it is always there for you.”

Swirsky developed these 21 suggestions for alleviating stress because he struggled with panic attacks for many years. The simple tried and true remedies he outlines in the book — which provides applicable self-management for feelings of depression as well — are the same ones he utilized to help himself and his many patients over the years

We welcome our increasingly informed audience - note that these two apparently arcane topics present as the most frequent downloads.]Dr. Afrin is charming, refreshingly articulate and passionate about his work as one of the leading authorities in the world [my perception, not his PR] on this exceedingly complex condition. You may not understand some of our conversation - as you will hear me also asking for clarifications - but this episode is an absolute must for anyone with a complex untreatable biomedical condition.MCAS should be on everyone's radar. Listen up as MCAS effects and estimated 10% of the general population - and directly affects the brain, with both mood and cognition conditions. It's where the rubber often meets the rocky immunity road.Report From The Front: Jennifer's Mast Cell Activation Syndrome Story Jennifer's story points to several clinical issues: "Consider your life. - Now consider how your life might change if things like loud noise, heat, strong emotions or stress, odors or even being startled could cause you to have an allergic reaction. Imagine suffering allergic reactions so frequently that you prayed for just 30 seconds of real relief each day. Imagine dreading the next response, because it may bring vomiting and diarrhea, convulsions, unresponsiveness or even paralysis-like symptoms."Jennifer Robin, first diagnosed with mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)[2] in 2014, faced these challenges daily until she received treatment in 2015 from the University of Minnesota Health Hematologist/Oncologist Lawrence Afrin, MD, an internationally respected expert on MCAS.'The disease can be a life-ruiner. I was unable to work, live independently, drive, have a social life—or have much of any life,' said Jennifer."Her Immunity Issues: 'The world just wasn’t safe for me.'Although she was always very sensitive to allergens, Jennifer’s overall health began to nose dive in her early 20s. A Maryland resident, Jen was forced to resign from her job when a variety of physical symptoms—including severe headaches, cognitive difficulties, and fever-like problems—began to affect her health. In 2010, Jennifer was misdiagnosed with Lyme disease, a common misunderstanding. Treatment for Lyme disease did not alleviate her symptoms, which became more severe over time. Jennifer began experiencing seizure-like episodes, slurred speech, insomnia and muscle weakness.'I was so sick and pretty much bed-bound for a couple of years. My parents had to help me to the bathroom two feet away,' Jennifer said. 'No doctor seemed to have any clue what was happening.'In 2013, Jennifer was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS - a dysautonomia syndrome), which is marked by an increase in heart rate when standing. That same year, she was also diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) [8], a group of genetic disorders that primarily affect connective tissue in skin, joints and blood vessel walls. But neither diagnosis seemed to account for all of Jennifer’s difficulties, which continued to become more severe. At times, she felt the tissues of her throat closing—a life-threatening occurrence known as anaphylaxis. In 2013, the two doctors that diagnosed her with POTS and EDS both referred her to Lawrence Afrin, MD, who was transitioning from the Medical University of South Carolina to a new position at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Afrin is one of the most prominent international experts on mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). Listen up as he weighs in on this challenging condition.Dr. Afrin's Insightful Discovery For Jennifer ...misunderstandings and neglect create more confusion in this world than trickery and malice. At any rate, the last two are certainly much less frequent.~ Goethe - 1774Don't assume bad intentions over neglect and misunderstanding.~ Hanlon's Razor - 1990[caption id="attachment_3014" align="alignright" width="225"] Dr. Lawrence Afrin[/caption]'MCAS is a chameleon, difficult to identify for many reasons,' Afrin said. 'It presents with different symptoms—which are often inflammatory or allergic in nature—to varying degrees in different places in the body.' To make matters worse, many healthcare providers are not yet familiar with the condition. Though more research on MCAS is emerging, relatively little information exists about the syndrome in medical literature. [Must: see the link to Dr. Afrin's excellent book on MCAS below.]At a follow-up appointment with Afrin months later, two of Jennifer’s lab results came back positive, including her level of histamine, which was five times the normal limit. Histamine is a chemical neurotransmitter that causes allergic responses. That day, Afrin diagnosed Jennifer with mast cell activation syndrome.Mast cells, which release histamine, are a critical component of a person’s immune system. But in patients with mast cell activation syndrome, the mast cells are overactive. Many of Jennifer’s symptoms were allergic reactions—caused when her hyperactive mast cells responded.Jennifer's Comment On Dr. Afrin'Out of the hundreds of doctors that I have seen, it was Dr. Afrin who saved my life,' Jennifer said. 'Never once did I feel the need to ‘prove’ that my symptoms were real or of physical origin as I’ve had to with other physicians. He just believed me.'" Why? Improved target recognition for contributory molecular mind variables offers increased precision and more predictable outcomes. The complexity of brain science requires more comprehensive thinking and data inquiry. Insufficient knowledge based upon old science is just that - insufficient. Diagnosis by appearances is not categorically wrong - far too often it's simply inadequate - as it was in my practice before I had to admit defeat with then-best diagnostic labels and traditional psychiatric medical information.------------Dr. Afrin's Metamorphic BookNever Bet Against Occam: Mast Cell Activation Disease and the Modern Epidemics of Chronic Illness and Medical Complexity- Global Amazon LinkMy Strong Recommendation To Mind Science Professionals: Read It NowMCAS is a global problem, not limited to Dr. Afrin's post in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota. In my offices, I've missed it for years because this information didn't arrive on my doorstep wrapped in an Amazon package. If you care about or care for, chronic, refractory treatment failure, both medical and psychological/psychiatric - you absolutely must first listen here to this interview with Dr. Afrin, then you must read his fresh, engaging, unpretentious, life-changing book. Read it even if you're a Ph.D. psychologist, an LPC, LCSW, or if you're an FNP, PA or trained medical professional at any level - especially Family Practitioners and Internists on the front lines who repeatedly witness unexplained treatment failure. Why? Because you often see patients like Jennifer in your offices and regret it when you don't know what to do.Your ChallengeOvercome your immunity denial, your concern about litigation [see the multiple references below] based upon misunderstandings from dogma and disbelief, and dive into these refreshing waters not only for the broken souls in your office, but for your well-being, self-mastery, and your job-well-done legacy. This book builds character.Dr. Afrin never claims, even in the context of his earnest, passionate, opinionated self, to have all the answers. Just read a few paragraphs, and you'll quickly feel that he's an old buddy you met out at your lake house one summer in Minnesota. He's humble with what he didn't know then, and what he doesn't know now. He's just smarter about MCAS than we are.His relentless search, his new answers, directly inform our work every day as examples for both original process and enlightened content.Book AlertI'll warn you from the outset; you won't get every detail on your first read of Never Bet Against Occam - as I didn't at my first cursory read. But don't let that dissuade you. The language and concepts are different, and Dr. Afrin ties in so much for our collective next steps in Mind Science on immunity, chronic illness, cognition, and the pervasive failures with psychiatric medications - that's the reason this one is essential. [RE: Histamine matters - Dr. William Walsh agrees, as it creates issues with neurotransmitter imbalances through dysregulation of methylation and transporter proteins at this CBJ/025 Interview.]You may already know: that Prozac doesn't improve MCAS and will often interfere with the treatment. Biomedical insights, informed targets, offer new hope when any of us are less informed. If you don't know what you're shooting at or with - you simply can't hit that amorphous target.-----------A Very Short Video on Mast Cells And Histamine - 1.59 min--------------------------Dysautonomia and MCAS Lecture - Dr. Afrin - 59:48 minMast Cell Activation Syndrome & Dysautonomia - Dr. Lawrence Afrin from Dysautonomia International on Vimeo.------------First Easily Forward This Audio Message Link To a Friendhttp://corebrainjournal.com/133-----------References For This CBJ ArticleAfrin M.D., Lawrence B.; Neilsen Myles, Kendra (2016-03-14).
