    1. Is it okay for a Christian to get a plastic surgery?

    2. I've always been told that Jesus was God, but some Jehovah's witnesses showed me Philippians 2 where it says that Jesus didn't consider himself equal to God. Now I am doubting. How do I make sense of this passage?

    3. If God's love is unconditional, why does he get so angry with Israel that he judges them by sending them into exile?

    4. I keep hearing competing ideas about sanctification. One side says it is just like justification: by grace alone through faith alone. The other side says we need to pursue it, and even though it ultimately depends on the Spirit, we still contribute something to the process. But if I contribute something, isn't this salvation by works? But if I don't need to pursue holiness, it sounds like it is optional. Can you help me sort this out? Can we pursue sanctification in a way that isn't trying to earn it by works?

    5. In Numbers 21, God sends down the fiery serpents to bite the complaining Israelites. As I was reading, I thought to myself, does God get frustrated? Is frustration a sin? There is no sin in God and neither does He sin, I understand this, but how would one properly explain these passages in regard to His holiness? I see that Jesus uses this story in regards to looking to Him for salvation. Is this the reason this incident took place, just so Jesus would use it during His earthly ministry?

Have I Truly Repented If I Keep Sinning? Dec 03, 2020

    1. I am concerned about my repentance and whether it is genuine repentance. I have attended church all my life, but only truly understood the gospel and received Christ last year. I know I should hate sin, but there are many instances when I find myself loving the sin that I struggle with. Often, I just instinctively run to my sin, especially the ones I have been committing most of my life. Sometimes I also wonder to myself, "If I am truly born again, would I be committing so much sin?"

    2. I'm reading through the Bible this year and right now in the Books of the Chronicles and am once again struck with all the names that are recorded. Knowing that all Scripture is God-breathed and edifying, what can I can take away from these lists of names as I read them?

    3. Just how important is baptism? Must it be done immediately after repentance? Do I have to be baptized in order to be saved?

    4. If repentance is necessary for Christians, and repentance means to turn from sin, then does that make repentance a work that is necessary for our salvation? If so, how does this agree with the claim that we are saved by free grace through the body and blood of Christ? How do we know if we are truly repentant if we continue to commit the same sins?

    1. Sometimes I feel like the most inspirational verses in the Bible actually leave me feeling hopeless. Like 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." I'm not always happy, I don't always pray, and I often forget to be thankful. If this is God's will for me, why do I have such a hard time living it out?

    2. I heard a TV pastor talk about the bible verse, "God is no respecter of persons." He went on to say that this meant that God does not respect people, only Jesus. Is this correct? I know God loves people, perhaps everyone, but does he respect them?

    3. I know the Bible talks about Scripture being God-breathed, but who was the first person that started writing the Bible, and how has everything been compiled into one book?

    4. How can I reach out, on a spiritual level, to a friend and fellow Christian who has fallen away to drugs and alcohol and has seemingly lost his love for the Lord?

    1. I recently was reading to my children a new children's book about the bible and the book described sin as loving things more than God. It warned the kids that if they love anything too much, like their parents and friends, then this is the definition of sin. Is that the entirety of what sin is? I understand that we need to love God supremely; however, I don't necessarily want my children insecure or afraid if they love me or their father too much. Is there a better way to talk to the kids about sin or is this how we really should talk to them?

    2. I have always struggled with my faith. I have been through a lot of rough experiences, from being in prison, to drug addiction, to seeing family members die, and I have earnestly and sincerely asked God to speak to me during these situations, lots of other people believe God speaks to them, but I have never ever heard God speak to me. Not once. Does he speak to anybody today?

    3. In Matthew 1:18 it says before Joseph and Mary came together she was found to be pregnant and verse 19 says that because Joseph "resolved to divorce her quietly." And then right after that in verse 20 it says "don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife." My question is, was Mary and Joseph married before she was pregnant or after she became pregnant?

    4. I'm having trouble knowing how to feel unified with the body when there is so much bad theology out there. I spent my childhood in a charismatic, prosperity gospel church and it has made me very sensitive to those things. I now feel that teaching should be exegetical and Christ focused, but it seems to be very hard to find people who agree with me. I see churches taking a topical approach to scripture that often avoids the subject of sin and feels more like a self help guide. I've been told I'm being too skeptical. I know that many of my friends believe the gospel so I consider them my brother or sister in Christ, but it's hard for me to feel unified when our beliefs and focal points are so far apart. How can I keep from being too critical of immaturity or a difference of beliefs, while staying sensitive to false teaching?

    4. What is the difference between the soul, the spirit, and the flesh? Which is like our body? What is the difference between those three, and are the soul and the spirit the same thing?

    5. A pastor recently said that there is a difference between knowing that you are a sinner and actually mourning over your sin. God has shown me that I am a sinner, that I cannot make myself good enough for him, and that I need Jesus. But I don't remember mourning my sin, and I feel like I'm mentally torturing myself to see if I am truly saved. What does it mean to mourn your sin?

I kind of cringe any time I hear that. I wanted to know, what are your thoughts on Jesus coming to people in their dreams?

    2. As an introvert, I've actually enjoyed being at home more these days. I actually worry about when life goes back to normal because I don't want to lose the joy and contentment I've been experiencing. Is this wrong?

    3. Is thinking about our Triune God as an egg Modalism? The egg, egg white, and shell are three separate things but still one egg, like how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three separate things but all God. Is this a valid way of thinking or not?

    4. I asked Jesus Christ to be my savior a while back, but I can't stop drinking, smoking, and cussing. I've tried everything. What can I do?

    1. I have a cousin and aunt and they said that the Catholic church was started by Jesus through the apostles, and I said that that was the catholic "universal," but they disagreed and said that church was the Roman Catholic church. So why do Catholics believe that they are the only true church and how can I answer this claim from the scriptures?

    2. What does it mean to be a child of God? Are all people children of God including non-believers? Or Is it our relationship with Jesus, the son of the Living God, that determines this? Thank you and I listen every day!

    3. I'm in a small group that seems to be growing more divided recently. I am in the susceptible demographic for the Coronavirus because of my age. Our small group used to Zoom but now have moved to in-person meetings, but the hosts of our small group seem put out by having to have precautions in place for me and another member who is a diabetic. At our last study, a good portion of our time had segued into allegations surrounding the election. I have quoted from Romans and 1 Peter to respect our authorities but since there is a divide between federal and state authorities, which one should be followed? How can these divisions be worked out? We are quite entrenched in our views about the virus it seems. I feel compelled to leave the group seeing how divisive things are getting. I want to just go back to studying God's word but I can't ignore that it has its application to our current divide.

    1. In Hebrews, where it says those have tasted the things of the Lord were not saved, what does that mean? I backslid and got caught up with alcoholism but the Lord brought me back and was curious if I lost faith and regained it, or if I always had it and the Lord just called me back?

    2. How do we obey God if we don't know the whole Bible? Wouldn't we have to memorize every command to truly be obedient?

    3. Matthew 7:21 says that "not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven. What does this mean? It sounds somewhat scary to me that not even saying "Lord, Lord" will allow us to enter the kingdom.

    1. Can you please give me some scripture references on if someone can or cannot lose their salvation?

    2. In 1 Corinthians 8, it talks about the "strong" and the "weak" as groups within the church in Corinth. These groups had differences of opinion over various issues, but Paul specifically encouraged "the strong" group to put the needs of the "weak" above their own. My question is then: why is it so difficult for us to do this? Why can we in the church be so preoccupied with our group's views on various issues that we forget to love those around us?

    3. I have a friend who doesn't believe in the "universal Church" because the word "ekklesia" means "the gathered ones" and therefore she states that the Church is only a local body. What we call the universal Church, she calls the family of God. Where can I turn to show her that the "family of God" can be called the universal Church?
