    1. Why do Christians need the church when our own bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit? Didn't the tearing of the veil signify that God could not be contained by a building?

    2. In Matthew 27, it says that other people other than Jesus were raised from the dead. Do we know anything about who these people were or what happened to them?

    3. What is the biblical teaching on whether women can be pastors or not?

    4. In Nehemiah 3, the entire chapter speaks about small details about the building of the wall. What things should we take away from these types of passages of scripture?

    5. What book in the bible would you go to to help deal with division in the church?

    6. Should we pray the imprecatory psalms even though Jesus says that we should love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us?

    1. I am a family man and a faithful member at my church. However, I have lingering feelings of discontentment in my life. Because of this I then find myself feeling guilty that I am not always fully and completely satisfied with the blessings I have—I want to be grateful and thank the Lord for every good blessing, but it really seems difficult for me. How should I think about contentment and my everyday life?

    2. What role does repentance play in our salvation?

    3. How do I apply 2 Corinthians 5:21 in my day to day life knowing that I am forgiven but I still sin? How does God view me?

    4. I am wondering if Ezekiel's vision of the Valley of Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37 is literal or something that is figurative?

    5. When Jesus came into Jerusalem and the crowd was cheering and singing "Hosanna in the highest" what exactly did they understand about Jesus when they were singing this?

    1. I am going through the bible with my 12yo son, and there are strange instances in the bible like the Sons of God in Genesis 6 and the witch of Endor in 1 Samuel that really trip him up when reading scripture. So much so that it is hard for him to focus on the bigger picture of scripture and the important pieces of it that point to Christ. How can I help him from getting too distracted with the minor details of scripture and focus on the bigger and more important parts?

    2. Should a Christian hold a job that might hurt other people like working for the military or doing retail knowing that what is being sold comes from sweat shops?

    3. Which aspects of the law should we still keep, specifically should we still try to keep the holy day feasts in the bible, or were those fulfilled in Jesus as well?

    4. If someone in your family is heterosexual but because of a bad relationship decides to try homosexuality…how is the family to respond..especially when we see each other at holiday get togethers, birthdays, and those types of events. I keep praying for them and would appreciate prayers for this person in my family who is very confused and also has severe depression.

    1. I am wondering if you have any advice on when and when not to bring up current events or pop culture into your bible teaching? I am a bible teacher and note that some preachers bring up current issues and make pop-culture references non-stop while others never mention these things. Any advice on how to do this well without watering down the biblical message?

    2. I remember learning in 6th grade how humans evolved from hominids, so I am wondering how the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible may or may not fit together with findings in human evolutionary biology?

    3. I am out of college living at home with my mother and grandmother and they believe that the miraculous sign of tongues is still in use for Christians today. I do not think this is the more accurate biblical view. How do I speak with them about this topic but be respectful about it? I love both my mom and grandmother and do not want to disrespect them.

    4. The last few years I have chosen an attribute of God in which to meditate during the year. This year I'm meditating on God's Providence. Please tell me what the distinction is between God's Sovereignty and God's Providence.

    1. I know that it has been said on the program before that Christianity isn't about us living our best life, but does that mean that it does not help us live a better life at all? I know you are trying to avoid teachings like the prosperity gospel, but the book of Proverbs, for instance, seems to tell us how to live better lives in certain ways. Would you still say that Christianity is only about our place in heaven?

    2. How do I know the warning passages in Hebrews 6 and 10 are not talking about me? I have been in a bad spiritual place for about a month now and don't know what to do. How do I know that these are not talking about me?

    3. Jude seems like a very strange epistle in the New Testament. What is its significance in the canon, and why do you think it touches on topics of angels and things that Paul and others don't normally focus on?

    4. During the protests against the election results, there were many flags being waved by the protestors with Jesus's name on them, at one point even a cross was raised outside the capitol building, all while people were pushing themselves through police barricades and breaking into the building. Why do you think the name of Jesus is being invoked in these acts?

Was Jesus Tempted to Sin? Jan 11, 2021

    1. I was wondering if you could offer some scriptural advice on whether or not believers should watch shows like The Chosen. On the one hand, I think that it's a faithful representation of the character of Jesus and the disciples. And while it does take creative liberties, I don't think any of the creative liberties contradicts what Scripture teaches. I think it does well to help us expand our imagination, about the reality that Jesus Christ was God who took on flesh and was man. On the other hand, I'm hesitant to watch something, maybe it's my theological roots that make me concerned about something that has an image or picture of Jesus. Although I know that a lot of theological traditions do allow for visual portrayals of Jesus because He was a man, whereas, a portrayal of the Father may be transgressing. I'm curious what advice you might offer in such cases.

    2. I have just recently graduated from college with a degree in Youth Ministry. I am at home right now and I get to see many friends and acquaintances from high school. Most of them, however, are not Christian. When I am around these people, I find myself being influenced by them and tempted to do and say things that are disobedient to God. I am a person who hates to miss out on things with friends, but I don't want to be influenced by them and tempted to dishonor God. What should I do? Should I leave my old friends behind and move on? Should I still hang out with them and trust in God to keep me strong so that they may see the light of Christ living within me?

    3. What do you all think of New Year's Resolutions? I have seen some Christians say we should only desire to grow in holiness and not worry about improving our practical life, body image, finances, etc. I am just wondering if these resolutions are things we should avoid or should be encouraged to engage in?

    4. I was recently in a church Bible study where the question came up of whether Jesus was tempted TO sin, that is, if he ever desired to give IN to sin, or was simply tempted BY sin, that is he was tempted in all ways—for example experiencing true, physical hunger in the wilderness—but never even considered giving in to the devil's temptation to turn stones into bread. I hold the latter view, that scripture seems beyond a shadow of doubt that God abhors all sin—that there is nothing "attractive" about sin to him. Do you believe Jesus was ever tempted to give in to sin?

    1. Why does Paul say that those who have faith are children of Abraham when Hebrews says Jesus mediates a better covenant than the old one? These seem to me like two opposing attitudes toward the Old Testament. How can I make sense of this?

    2. I am a believer, and I'm wondering whether I should have a traditional burial or if I can get cremated when I die? Cremation is much cheaper than a traditional burial, but I know someday I will be resurrected. Will God be angry at me for taking the cheaper option financially? I don't have an answer when I pray.

    3. Approximately when do you think Christ will return?

    4. I accepted Jesus many years ago, but I still sin. How will I make it to heaven when I still sin? What if I am not close enough to God? What if I don't read my Bible and pray enough? Or have enough good works?

    1. My family and I have begun a year long plan to read through the Bible and we thought it would be encouraging and edifying to reach out to Core Christianity as questions arise in our daily readings and our first question came from Genesis chapter 4, and it's twofold: In verse seven God tells Cain that "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it." First, this sounds a lot like works-righteousness. But we know that the first signs of the gospel were delivered to Adam and Eve back in chapter three, could you help us make sense of God's statement here and how it relates to Cain and Abel sacrifices, and then God's plan for salvation? And secondly, the phrase, "its desire is for you, but you must rule over it," is very similar to what we read God said to Eve in Genesis 3:16, when he says your desire shall be for your husband and he shall rule over you. Is there a connection that we should draw from these similarities, and if so, what is that connection?

    2. I have been so confused about the end times Mark of the Beast. I've read that it's a vaccine or a microchip or that it's not even a literal mark but instead the mark on the forehead is actually representative of a changed mind and the mark on the hands are our actions after we have been saved. Could you please go into detail about what scripture says about this subject. I've had plenty of nights where I've just been kept awake thinking about this and praying that I won't be deceived. 3. What are the 5 Solas? 4. I'm thankful that we, as Christians, believe Jesus is the way and the truth and the life and that no one comes to the Father except by him. But sometimes I get a little upset when I hear there are so many denominations. We have one Holy Spirit. Why can't we agree on all the teachings? Today's Offer

    1. I recently heard a pastor say that for anybody to speak against him would be speaking against The Father. Is speaking against a pastor speaking against God?

    2. I have heard some say that the Apostle Paul was still performing Jewish ceremonies and even sacrifices after his conversion to Christianity. For example, in Acts 21:26, it says that "Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them." What is your take on this?

    3. I just learned in Sunday School class about the illicit sexual conduct that Ravi Zacharias had. I don't keep up with the daily news so I hadn't heard any of this. It hit me in the gut pretty hard. We've been studying Romans and specifically have parked on Romas 5:20 that talks about 'where sin abounds, grace abounds more'. Last night this played over and over in my mind as I tried to sleep and think about Ravi. How can someone defend the Gospel so well, as he did, and do the things he did? Does he qualify as a false teacher now? What do I do with this information? I have so many questions and deep disheartening emotions. Trust is waning. Do I even trust you? Who do we trust now? I know we all fall and none of us are without sin. I know that grace abounds so that forgiveness covers all sin that also abounds. How does one keep on sinning at the same time they are defending the Gospel?

    1. In the Gospel of John it seems like some people "believed" but really didn't, according to Jesus. How do we understand this, particularly in reference to ourselves or our friends who may "believe" but might not be saved? How can we discern whether someone is in that state, or is that something only Jesus can see?

    2. It seems like in every job there is some form of complicity we share with unethical practices, whether it is selling products made in sweatshops or being in politics or the armed forces where, for better or for worse, you have other people's lives or livelihoods in your hands. Are there some jobs that Christians should avoid entirely, or how should we practice wisdom when choosing our careers?

    3. In Genesis 9, why does Noah curse Canaan after he awakens from his drunkenness and not Ham? What is the significance of Noah's nakedness being uncovered and covered?
