How Do I Forgive My Abuser? Feb 01, 2021

Episode 632 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    1. If John was administering baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and Jesus was sinless, why did Jesus get baptized?

    2. Should Christians be cremated or buried when they die?

    3. I run a 12 step program and I use 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 where Paul talks about temptation to help those in the program. Am I applying this passage correctly?

    4. I grew up being sexually abused by a family member. I want to forgive him, but I do not want to be in the same room as him. When Jesus says that we should forgive seventy times seven, does that mean I should force myself to include him in my life? I am struggling with knowing what to do.

    5. What is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?

Beware the Charismatic Leader Jan 29, 2021

Episode 631 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

    1. I am naturally interested in studying the bible and theological books. I also have a young family and while my wife is not uninterested in these things, I also know it would not be ideal for us as a family to read and discuss the types of things I am naturally drawn to, theologically speaking. I think it would be too much for them and unhelpful. What are ways that I can better help my family learn about the faith together?

    2. Does Jesus serve only as the intermediary between us and the Father, or can we also pray to Jesus as well as the Father?

    3. Recently I had a mini debate with some followers and disciples of a very intense charismatic leader. In our conversation they used Acts 2 as their self-defense on personal revelation or dreams. What do you think would be a good response to these interpretations?

    4. Does everyone that goes to hell suffer equally? It would seem reasonable to think that someone like Hitler would suffer more than an ethical, moral person who perhaps had never been exposed to the Word or perhaps kept putting off a decision or was led into a less than real salvation experience.

What Does the Bible Say About Cussing? Jan 28, 2021

Episode 630 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

    1. What book or character in the bible is most underrated or glossed over in our churches?

    2. In Luke 9, Jesus sends out His apostles to proclaim the Kingdom of God, yet a few verses later after Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ, Jesus commands them not to tell this to anyone. What were the apostles tasked to speak then if they were told not to say anything concerning Jesus' identity and mission?

    3. Can angels marry?

    4. Can a Christian lose their salvation?

    5. The scripture is clear about taking the Lord's name in vain. But what about swear words? As a person in the military I'm around swearing a lot, and it struck me that what we consider bad words often have synonyms that aren't considered bad at all. In the end swear words seem an arbitrary construct of man.

    6. I have struggled greatly with the temptation of lust. I have a Bible study group with close guys that I share my struggle with and I also have an accountability partner within that group yet it is still a daily struggle for me. I know that this sin is deeper than bad behavior and it's a matter of the heart. I was wondering if you guys had any advice on how to fight this temptation and pursue holiness and godliness?

    1. How do you explain the doctrine of the Trinity to young children? My kids understand that Jesus is God but have a hard time understanding the idea of other persons in the identity of God.

    2. Do we have to keep forgiving someone who keeps sinning against us?

    3. Jesus say He will send the Holy Spirit after He went to the Father. But in John 20 Jesus say to His disciples, "Receive the Holy Spirit." But in Acts it look like the day of the Pentecost was the first indwelling of the Holy Spirit into believer. How can you understand these two event without contradiction?

    4. In the Apostle's Creed, it says that Jesus descended into hell. If Christ took the punishment of man on the cross, why did he have to "descend" into hell?

    5. How do you understand the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

    6. In Ephesians, it says that we are not judged by our works, but by the blood of Jesus. However, in 2 Corinthians, Paul says that we will be judged by our works. I know that we are ultimately saved by the grace of God but this is confusing to me.
