    Chiro Hustle

Chiro Hustle Podcast is a business, mindset, and marketing podcast for chiropractors who want more—from their practices, their profession, and themselves.

Hosted by James Chester and produced by Luke Millett, Chiro Hustle delivers real conversations with chiropractors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders who are actively building successful, principled practices. This is not theory or recycled advice. It’s practical insight from people who have done the work and continue to push chiropractic forward.

Each episode explores what it actually takes to succeed in today’s chiropractic landscape—practice growth, branding, leadership, systems, patient communication, and personal development. Just as important, Chiro Hustle tackles the mindset behind success: discipline, consistency, accountability, and the willingness to stand for chiropractic without apology.

The podcast respects chiropractic’s roots while addressing modern business realities. Whether you’re straight, mixer, cash-based, insurance-based, or somewhere in between, the mission is the same: help chiropractors build influence, impact, and long-term sustainability without compromising their values.

Guests share their wins, failures, and lessons learned—openly and honestly—so listeners can avoid common pitfalls and accelerate their own growth. Students, associates, and seasoned doctors alike will find perspective, motivation, and actionable ideas they can apply immediately.

Chiro Hustle is more than a podcast. It’s a mindset and a movement—encouraging chiropractors to take ownership of their outcomes, lead with integrity, and hustle with purpose.

If you’re serious about chiropractic and committed to building a practice that reflects your values and vision, this podcast is for you.

    Welcome to Chiro Hustle.

After having worked with 4 professional teams over 23 years, a successful private practice of over 30 years and creating and directing 3 national sports chiropractic organizations, the last several years Dr. Palmer has shifted his focus to exposing a major cause of environmental toxicity in children, contributing to a meteoric rise in childhood neuro-developmental illnesses and chronic disease over the last 3 decades, vaccines. Now let’s hustle! LUKE MILLETT (PRODUCER): Hey guys, welcome to episode 566 of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. I’m your producer, Luke Millet, and here’s your host, James Chester. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So today we have the opportunity of interviewing Dr. Alan Palmer. If you want to hear about 1200 studies on vaccine safety, stay tuned. Welcome back everyone. This is another episode of the Chiro Hustle Podcast that I have Dr. Alan Palmer coming on. We’re going to go deep. This guy has done a lot of back work for informed consent and within the world of medical freedom. I think that there’s going to be a lot that we’re going to discuss today. Our big why? Why don’t we do what we do? Well, protecting freedom of speech is very important to us. We’ve never censored anyone. We know what it feels like to be shadow banned and to get our traffic turned off. So we just continuously move forward. But I know there’s a lot of things that we’re going to talk to you today about with Dr. Alan. And a lot of that is medical freedom and family health freedom and the ability to have choice. And I think that it takes a lot to be able to have these conversations and to be able to stand up to having resources and information to help more families and to help more individuals with their medical freedom choices. And I think today’s interview and conversations can reveal a lot of that because I know you have compiled a list of 12 to 1600 studies that are going to help people find the resources that they need to stay informed for themselves and the families. But as we get a bit more chiropractic, the philosophy is protecting the sacred trust. And I believe that BJ Palmer today would still be doing the work that you’re doing, Dr. Alan, is he would still be protecting the sacred trust, though, making sure that everybody was getting adjusted and everyone had access to chiropractic. And, you know, subluxation based chiropractic is a huge part of chiropractic that sometimes doesn’t get discussed enough. So we stand for subluxation based chiropractors and we believe in any intelligence or universal intelligence. A lot of the reasons why we don’t want to put more things into our bodies that don’t belong there. Yes. Because we believe that when man or woman in the physical gets adjusted, it connects them to the man or woman in the spiritual. And that’s our big why, why we do what we do here at Caro Hustle. And I’m just really thankful to have you on for today’s show of episode 566. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Oh, I appreciate being here. Thank you so much for the invitation. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah. So it’s almost been four years since we’ve been a gobsmacked with a manufactured pandemic. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Yeah, can you believe it almost four years? I mean, boy, I’ll tell you what, in some, in some ways it’s gone very slow, but in some ways I can’t believe it’s been four years already. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So mistakes, I’m sure you’ve noticed there were quite a few mistakes that have happened over the past four years when it comes to the reality of what happened, how people maybe went to certain direction that wasn’t their best interest. And now the back end of that is now people aren’t feeling good and they’re not finding a better quality of life. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Yes. Yeah. Absolutely. Well, you know, I mean, my background in the reason I got into this whole issue related to vaccines and especially the childhood vaccines begin with was that there was just, there wasn’t a lot of credible evidence-based information that I could find out there easily accessible for parents or for people. You know, parents are told by their pediatrician what their child, what they need to do with regard to vaccinations and so forth. And you know, in my practice, I would always tell my patients, I wouldn’t tell them what to do. I would provide them with data and information, studies and books and different things I had at Lending Library and I would give them the information. Then I would say, now go talk to your child’s pediatrician and ask them for the same kind of information and really just pretend like you’re sitting on a jury and look at the evidence on both sides of the case and then make a decision as to what you think isn’t the best interest of your child. And so, you know, that’s what really inspired me to produce my original 1200 studies Truth World for Veil book. And you know, when this pandemic started, I already had a sense or a distrust of the pharmaceutical industry and the way that they have been, you know, our public health agencies have been co-opted by the pharmaceutical industry because of the deep dive that I’ve gone into on the childhood vaccines. So when I started seeing what was happening with the virus and who was really susceptible to it and the data that was coming out early on from countries like Israel and especially Italy, a very elderly country and realizing that over 90% of the fatalities were in people over the age of 80 years old. But yet I saw a public health response that didn’t fall in line with the reality of what was happening on the ground with the virus. I started really looking into it. I guess I kind of consider myself an investigative reporter. So with a medical bent, you know, and a scientific bent. So I started looking into it. And when I saw that what our government was doing, what governments around the world were doing, you know, in suppressing early treatment medications that doctors were having tremendous success with. And some of these medications, by the way, had shown very good promise with SARS-CoV-1, you know, the first one in the early 2002-2003 area. And so when I saw that going on, it just, it really made me very suspicious of the motivations behind that. So I started writing a monthly newsletter and compiling a lot of data and studies and the research that supported all things related to the lockdowns, related to the public health responses as it relates to, you know, other kinds of treatments, even natural antivirals and things like that. And just tried to provide people with another source of information that they weren’t getting from the mainstream media’s 24-7 fear mongering that people were being subjected to. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So it just makes me question and like really like piqued my interest of why do you think that the only thing provided to the world, like not just America, but like country after country down the line, why do you think the only thing that they were focusing on as a solution for any of the manufactured pandemic? Why do you think any of that was only one direction? Why do you think there’s only one choice? DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Well, I mean, to me it seems obvious, but I guess, you know, it’s maybe I have a bias there, but when you look at the public health officials, people that are embedded within the CDC, the FDA, Health and Human Services and so forth, these are people that in many cases have been, have lifetime ties to pharma or they came directly from the pharmaceutical industry into these alphabet soup agencies. And when they leave those agencies, let’s say as the director of the agencies like Scott Gottlieb, who was the, you know, the director of the FDA, and then they go into, you know, he’s now on the board of Pfizer, right, he’s on Pfizer’s board. You see this revolving door and you realize that our public health agencies have been captured. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): And so it’s it’s, it’s like the old saying, show me your friends, I’ll show you your future. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Well, and you know, all the, all the messaging was, was related to, we’re going to have to wait for the vaccine, you know, the vaccine, the warp speed, you know, everything was geared towards producing the vaccine and, and patented drugs that weren’t off patented drugs that, you know, pharmaceutical companies could make billions of dollars on. They didn’t look at some of the simple medications that have been around forever and have a tremendous safety record. You know, and early on with doctors that were using things like hydroxychloroquine and Ibromectin and, and getting very promising results, that was basically just squashed, right? I mean, it, it wasn’t even allowed to be as part of the context of the conversation. And you know, the studies that started coming out were very promising. And, you know, Jim, to date, there have been over 400 studies on hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19, you know, and with over a half a million patients in those studies, there have been 100 studies on Ibromectin. And in both Ibromectin and hydroxychloroquine, both show about a 62% success rate with early treatment. So if you really think about it, if they would have moved towards an early treatment direction with these medications so people could get treatment when they can’t, when they got sick, so many people wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital. It’s hard to, it’s hard to say what the actual, you know, the, the casualty count is as a result of that. But when people would go to the hospital, they were just told to go home and let the virus incubate basically. And when their lips turned blue or they couldn’t breathe, come back to the hospital, they weren’t given any other alternatives, not vitamin D, not vitamin C, not zinc, not anything. They were just told to go home. And that’s a catastrophic failure on the part of our public health agencies, in my opinion. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, the more I listen to the narrative, what I’ve actually been a part of, because we’ve all been a part of this, and I feel like we’ve all been fenced in. They built like this fence around all of us, whether it’s invisible or with a shot that’s the side of a lot of people now. But I feel like everybody’s kind of in fenced in with like a mental like PTSD. I feel like if it wasn’t physical, it was mental. And if it wasn’t, it might have been both. But I feel like we got fenced in with a construct of this is the only path you can go. And I do think that a lot of people got sick. It’s like saying, Hey, I want to go play a sports game like baseball. You have Arizona Diamondbacks on your shirt. And just just imagine if they tell the Arizona Diamondbacks that they’re going to have to hit with like a boat or like it’s not going to work. Right. And I feel like that’s like how obviously blatant like the game that they put us into. Like, okay, you guys are going to put baseball, but you can always swing a boat or yep, and we’re like, that doesn’t work. But that’s what they’ve given us. So everybody got boaters when they could have gotten a baseball bat and they could have had a chance to hit the ball. But now we’re stuck in this weird game where we got people still thinking that the baseball bat should be an or. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. And you know, forget about them, all the medications in that controversy for a moment. But you know, the CDC stands for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. How many times did you hear them talk about going out and getting sunshine, getting fresh air, opening up your windows, airing out your house, getting some exercise, taking optimizing your vitamin D levels. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Seeing a chiropractor. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Seeing a chiropractor, absolutely. And on the vitamin D, I have about 90 studies on my website, on the effectiveness of vitamin D, not just with COVID. Many of them are dozens of them are with COVID showing benefit and reducing severe outcomes or mortality. But all kinds of different types of respiratory viral illnesses. So but there was no mention of any of that. And that just help that speaks volumes when they don’t even mention that inexpensive, simple things that everybody could do to try to help keep people alive and prevent, you know, catastrophic illness in people. So that just speaks volumes, really. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So they need to focus on the absolute minimum of prevention. They didn’t. DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): They didn’t. Not at all. I mean, I didn’t hear about it on your nightly news or by any of the talking heads. Did you Jim? JAMES CHESTER (HOST): No, but I think that it gives us a chance to steer in a different direction now. And I know that you’ve been a chiropractor of what, 23 years of practice and, um, they’re over 30 years as a chiropractor. Like, how do we steer this to court to four chiropractic? How do we steer all of the misinformation and all of like the people that are like now physically challenged? How do we steer this conversation to chiropractic? DR ALAN PALMER DC (GUEST): Yeah. I mean, I just think it’s a tremendous opportunity for chiropractors, you know, to really, uh, to highlight what we do as chiropractors, to highlight the ability of the body to heal itself if given the right, uh, oppor…

JAMES CHESTER (HOST): On today’s episode, we had an opportunity of interviewing Dr. Alessandra Colon. We talk about crack addicts and the great awakening of chiropractic. Stay tuned for the full episode. Welcome back. This is another episode of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. They have Alessandra Colon. She has been featured on a series, what her tell you more about it, but it’s TLC’s latest show called Crack Addicts. I think that we’re going to talk a lot about her and her career. We’re going to talk about how she grew her practice before the show and some of the nuances within who she is becoming from the show. So I think it’s really cool, great opportunity. But before we jump in and tell her story, I want to let everyone know and everyone that listens to our show know our big why. Why do we do what we do? Well, first things first is protecting freedom of speech. It’s so important for the world to not have censorship and we’ve never censored anyone. Our show keeps the chiropractic message out there on all fronts that will listen to us and have us host on them. So really cool. Then we do believe in medical freedom and family health freedom. I know we were talking about some of this stuff before the show and how you positioned your family’s health and made good decisions based on that. And we also believe in protecting the sacred trust. It’s BJ Palmer’s last words. If you guys don’t know what the sacred trust is, go and search for BJ Palmer’s last words or search for BJ Palmer sacred trust. You’re going to know more about chiropractic than you previously did. I guarantee you. I guarantee you because what it talks about is protecting this profession. And I think that every chiropractor read it. They’d have a bit more zest for protecting what they do. And then we do believe in subluxation based chiropractic. We believe that when man or woman, the physical is adjusted, it connects man or woman, the spiritual. And with that being said, Dr. Alessandra Kloem, welcome to the show. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Thanks so much for having me. I’m excited about this one. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, you know, I saw you taking a bunch of photos at the woman’s chiropractic conference. And I’m friends with a lot of the ladies that are in the leadership of that group. And I was like, huh? So Alessandra is down there hanging out with the WDC group. Pretty cool. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): I’m a pretty lucky gal man. I’ve had an awesome following since the show and major support system. So I’m all about it. Send the love. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): And then I think maybe I’m mistaken, but then you ended up going up to the group in Michigan. Yeah, yeah. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Yeah. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): I’m friends with a lot of people in that leadership group too in that organization. So it’s cool to see you bounce from the WDC group up to the Mac of a Michigan chiropractic group. And I know there’s a lot more things that are coming in 24 for you. But before we get too far down the line, let’s just open up with you your story. How did you get into become a chiropractor? How did you choose chiropractic out of every other thing you could possibly have been a part of? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): God, this is a long story. So I’m trying to make it short. I honestly always thought I was going to grow up singing. I was like the little Mariah Carey in my family. My brother was actually like the really intelligent one, which is, and he’s still is by the way, but I’m smart, but he’s on a level. And I had cancer. And after having cancer, it really changed my perspective on things. So I applied to be a medical doctor, but to apply for chiropractic, my MCATs. And I was on that whole route, because my mom told me it was a great idea. And I thought it was a great idea too. And so I did that whole thing. I did my pre-medical studies, and I still just didn’t find myself truly fulfilled. And so I started asking myself, like, what makes me happy? And I had a lot of complications from chemo and radiation, gut issues, mental health issues that I hadn’t really harnessed from the trauma I had been through. And my friend just told me, hey, why don’t you go spend time with a chiropractor? And I was like, keep me in a quack. Like, I’m not going to go do that. That’s ridiculous. But then I did. And I actually ended up interning with a chiropractor in Oregon, New Jersey, like every summer. And the first thing he taught me about was the chiropractic triad. Nutrition, mental, and the physical well-being. And I thought to myself, like, wait a second, there’s doctors out here that care if all those things match up, that’s optimal health. I thought that was just the wildest thing. And I was like, if I’m going to be a doctor, this is the kind of doctor I want to be. And sure enough, I call my mom, said I’m not going to med school. That did not go over well. And I applied the next thing for chiropractic school in poverty and chiropractic format. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): And so I’m like, take a minute. Yeah, so how old were you when you made that decision? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): I was a senior in college because I had just applied for my MCATs in all my medical schools. So I had to have been like 2021. Like, nope, I’m not going, mom. Sorry, it’s been on this money for nothing. Again, it really did not go over well. That was a hard course. That was a hard pill for my family to swallow. Mostly because we both come from medical doctors and we all know that there’s a lot of, you know, chiropractor and our real doctors, all that kind of stuff. But I had a follow my gut and at the end of the day, what brought me joy and I’ve been in ever since. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): How old were you when you got your first chiropractic adjustment? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Ready for this? When I had entered chiropractic school and I decided to continue doing my externship, I got adjusted by the guy in market New Jersey. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So not even before you decided to become a chiropractor. And based on that, how could you encourage people that might listen to our show that are considering a career in chiropractic to maybe say that that might be right for me too? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): To try it out. There’s no fear, right? What really made me want to go for chiropractic was that there was somebody going to listen to me, I meant to health issues and then connect and mentor with a physical, whether I was ready for the physical part, maybe that wasn’t the case. But I had someone who actually listened to me and as doctors, right, we have this obligation to do it. We do well, but we forget to listen to the patient and I think you can’t, we can put all the science in the world you want and you can put evidence all you want on it. But there’s still an instinct that there’s that in weakness that is alive in all of us and I had to listen to that in a sense to trust my gut that there was something bigger going on and I wanted to do deeper. So if you ever feel that gut instinct that you’re doctors, not answering questions, you’re just not completely happy with your health care, you need to trust your instinct and that’s what we do. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, I think that’s really important to hear from you to people that will listen to the show is so many times people don’t know where to go or who to trust and they subordinate to a system that’s fractioned and broken and they find themselves in a deeper hold than what they originally in because now they have to do this for something that they thought was going to actually make them healthy. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Right, instead of listening to their gut say it’s something that’s not right. I mean it’s going to take deeper, right? You’ll be become comfortable with those things. Don’t get comfortable with your health. Protect your health. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So fast forward to the TV series. I know that crack addicts as you said, became international, national, everybody’s listening and watching clips. How did you take your practice from where you were and grow to the point where you were actually running a profitable fun practice before crack addicts found you? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Oh man, this is a tough one and I know it might not resonate with everybody. I’m really good at just being who I am. I think when we get the emcee or the DC behind us or the NP, we automatically put on this white coat and we assume that we’re, you know, we walk around and we’re doctors, which I’m not saying it’s not a beautiful thing. We have, we have, we spent many hours in clinical studies, we should honor that we’re doctors. But I also couldn’t tell you what engineer does and it’s a specialty too, right? So I always felt that yes, I’m a doctor and that’s my specialty, but my real bread and butter is connecting with patients and being who I am. And I just had a way about being real honestly and I think my patients really felt that so my doors were always full. I rarely did external marketing. All of my marketing was from patient to patient and word of mouth and that’s such a beautiful thing when you can learn to honor who you are. Don’t try and be something that you’re not. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So you’re telling me like organically you’re just like making social media posts? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Yeah, I saw that the evolution of our world right in the adaptation is going that route going to social media. We can’t sit back and I’m not saying don’t do clinical screens. I’m not saying don’t go out and do those things. They are still relevant. You can still do dinner talks if that’s to do and you do the well, but understand it. Law of adaptation is still, it’s still relevant and you need to be able to adapt. And so I naturally just started doing things that was come from the camera and that eventually led me to my television series. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So it was a TikTok that kind of got the attention of the TLC group. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Yes, and by the way, I thought that like I was like funny. So I liked it all my own videos for TikTok and so I did one video that actually copied and he had a Dr. Remix and that was the one that hit like everywhere 17.2 million views about period crafts. And here I was thinking about the jinx of the original. I wasn’t by the way and it hit big big enough to get a television series. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So first season, what’s it been like for you? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Everything. It’s been tough. It’s been awesome. It’s been real. It’s been hard. It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s been lovely. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions. I really couldn’t tell you. I went from fearing with the whole world was going to think of me fearing who I was fearing. Maybe who I was becoming, letting go of frequency notions about who I was and who I wasn’t. To building a waiting line of 15,000 patients and then literally having a baby, birthing a new practice and birthing a television show within eight months. And learning not only so much about chiropractic and what I’m capable of but also who I was. It’s been a journey. It still is. I am fully admitting to the fact that I’m in transition. But I’m not going to say no to any opportunities because this is way bigger than me. And that’s something that I’m trying to honor because it is tough to do what I’m doing. It’s for telling it’s easy. But it’s so incredibly beautiful and rewarding. And I don’t take it for granted. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So season one, how many episodes are there like six? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): We got three episodes. We were really supposed to have a show. When TLC came, they just wanted to do a pilot and then shoot that pilot to the executive producers and say like, hey, they may or may not have a season here. And then I just kind of blew their mind when they realized what chiropractic was in their shoot. They came in thinking it was like next and back. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): And you started taking care of one of the soundtracks. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): It was the last day. I’m like, has anybody looked at the crew? Something is wrong with that guy. They’re holding like boom mics for like hours. Like I’m tired of their day 50 patients. Like that’s exhausting what they do. I mean, guys, production is like maybe harder than me. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, I mean, we’ve done a couple of films. So I now like working long days interviewing people, holding study, catching the special DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): moments. And being on all day. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Editing. Editing. Like the hardest part like editors are like hierarchy like the greatest people in the world. Like the editor makes everything better. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): Listen, I was lucky. I think the producers came in and they were just like, we got something here. And I’m such a well, I say weird people say unique. They had enough. They had enough B-World to go around for a very long time. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So I know this might not be a fair question, but I have to ask you whether it be a season two. DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): I can’t answer that. There are some things in the works and I can say that. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Well I had to ask. So the effect of crack addicts, do you believe that it’s doing what you’ve been able to accomplish so far as help chiropractic and help chiropractic across the board? DR ALESSANDRA COLON DC (GUEST): And it was that I had a board posture system that you could possibly imagine. On…

Now let’s hustle! LUKE MILLETT (PRODUCER): Hey guys, welcome to episode 563 of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. I’m your producer, Luke Mallett, and here’s your host, James Chester. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): On today’s episode, we had an opportunity of interviewing Dr. Christina Padilla. And we talk about how to create a life through chiropractic. Stay tuned for the full story. Welcome back. This is another episode of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. Christina Padilla is joining me today. Christina Padilla Bravo, because they do things differently from Puerto Rico. But I’m excited to have her on the show today. We’re going to talk all about her story, how she got into this beautiful profession. We’ll talk about her love for taking care of Pragos and babies, and working with the WDC group, which is the Women Chiropractic Non-for-profit group. So lots of cool things we’re going to talk about. And we’ll finish up with a cool miracle story or some things of what inspires her. But yeah, this is going to be 563 of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. But before we bring on our guest today, I always let everybody know our big why. Why do we do what we do over here at Chiro Hustle? Well, to me, it’s important because we protect freedom of speech. Sensorship is something that we see across the board on the popular social media platforms and even on mainstream media. So if we can create one little pocket of truth out there called Chiro Hustle, where all we do is tell the truth about chiropractic and this beautiful profession, that’s what we’ll do. We also believe in medical freedom and family health freedom. I think those things would line right up with Dr. Padilla because of the things that she’s doing helping create healthy families. And it’s near and dear to my heart because I want every kid to get checked from day one to birth to in utero. I want the child to have a full life of chiropractic. So those things really matter. And I know that that’s episode is going to talk about some of that. Philosophically speaking, we do protect BJ Palmer’s Sacred Trust. It’s super important to chiropractors to know this. And if you’re not a chiropractor, go and find it. If you are a chiropractor, refresh yourself. It’s BJ Palmer’s last words. It means a lot to this profession. And then we do support Solvixation based chiropractic. I know it’s wild. I have to say that on a chiropractic podcast, but we do. And then we do believe in inate intelligence and universal intelligence. We believe that when man or woman, the physical gets adjusted, it connects them to man or woman, the spiritual. Dr. Christina Padilla, welcome. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Hi, thank you. Thanks for having me. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, I know it’s long-winded, but the intro is important because a lot of people don’t know chiropractic. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Exactly. No, it is important. We want to send the right message, right? JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah. And I’ve always believed that if even if people just listen to the first two minutes of our show, they at least can like get. Whoa. That was intense. Like, I need to go find all that stuff. What’s the Solvixation? What is that word? DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Yeah, makes you want to know more. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): What is medical freedom? You know, like people should know that stuff. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): No, that we have choices and that every choice we make is very important, not just to us, but to how we teach our kids to grow up and take care of themselves and their autonomy. So agreed. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So let’s turn the page back a while. Go back to when you decided chiropractic was the right path for you. Tell that story. Tell it like your friends, your family, your patients are all listening to it around the campfire and they’ve never heard you tell the story before. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Absolutely. So I did not grow up in a chiropractic lifestyle. It was very foreign to me. I think growing up as an athlete, I got adjusted once. I had an SI injury for sports and I went to the chiropractor. I got adjusted and that was it. And that was like 14, 16 maybe. And I was like, oh, this was great. Move on. Like there was nothing else there. You know what I mean? Like, so I didn’t get all that other very valuable information about what my body can do and why those things were happening. So fast forward through life. I ended up in, I always wanted to be in healthcare. So my goal was to work with kids and pregnant women since I was young. And I only knew that the only way to do that was to be in healthcare as a medical provider and take care of kids and newborns and women that way. So my goal was to be an OBGYN. And I went to medical school did the things that I needed to do. And two years in I left because it wasn’t the place for me. It wasn’t what I aligned for. I knew that’s just not the place, physically, emotionally and intellectually for me to be in. So I left without knowing really what I was going to do after. And my parents probably weren’t very happy about that. But my really, my best friend from childhood, he had a great experience with a chiropractor who really taught him about not just what chiropractor could do physically for him as an athlete, but just the extent of a chiropractor could do in life in general. And he thought I would make a great chiropractor. And I was like, all right, well, my, you know, you’re my best friend. I kind of like would listen. And I checked it out. I checked out a couple of schools and I saw myself doing this. So I ended up choosing New York chiropractic college for a number of different reasons. The program seemed to align with where my medical knowledge was at the time or my knowledge about healthcare was at the time. And I had better opportunities there than other schools. So I chose New York and to my goal was like, well, maybe I won’t get to work with kids. Maybe because I didn’t know what chiropractic could do other time. I may be not be able to work, but maybe I’ll work with athletes and like, you know, like all of us say when we go to chiropractic school, we’re all going to work with athletes. And someone put a poster up in school. I think I was in like second or third trimester and about Webster technique coming to New York. And I was like, no idea what that is, but this lady is going to work with pregnant women. I want to know what she has to say. And it was genio. And the rest is history because it was genio. So she thought Webster and I was like sold. I was like, I don’t know who she is. I don’t know what she drinks, but I want all of that. And that was it from that point on. I basically said, I am going to take her pregnant women and I’m going to do everything I need to do to be like her. So from that point on, I did all the ICPA stuff. I got super immersed in what the whole philosophy of soluteogenesis and wellness care and holistic care was. And that really shaped the rest of my life in school and afterwards. And my only goal since I graduated was to work with kids and pregnant women. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): You know, it’s, it’s to me, great, great, great, great job, you know, coming to that place of if something’s not congruent with what we’re feeling when it comes to choice. We should choose something that makes us feel like we’re doing the right thing for the world and sets us on fire. And I think, you know, a learner from genie, I could see the enthusiasm and the passion with like making that decision. It takes somebody like that to come into the chiropractic space and to start opening up like these ideas of what’s possible. And I think it’s really cool. And then it’s, you know, it looks like as you got to do kids and pregnancies, you started learning more about it and went to Lindsey Matthews group and learned from her with birthfit. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Yes. I can remember what my first interaction with Lindsay back in the day when she first started birth. That’s a podcast, I believe. I’m sure I heard about it, references from other podcasts or something like that. Once you know how algorithms work, once you see one thing, you’re going to see all of it. So somehow I got exposed to it and I started following her and it just made sense. I love fitness. I’ve been an athlete and in fitness since I was really young and it’s really important. A body, a movement is a healthy body. So it just kind of all made sense and it was the one aspect of prenatal care and taking care of women that really wasn’t discussed or talked about too much. I didn’t learn a lot of it in school. I know now that I’m in practice, my patients don’t have that education on what preparing for birth is and preparing for afterwards is. And so I’ve become very, very passionate about the postpartum period. It’s something we integrate into practice. It’s something we teach and we speak about it because there’s just mind health body all connected together. And so yeah, it’s been really fun to play with that in practice. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): I look at both of those as like being the co-pilot for a parent and helping make good decisions and keeping people healthy. It’s not just the power of the adjustment. It’s facilitating healthy people, which have healthy pregnancies, which have healthy babies, which have healthy children, which make healthy thriving people. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): I always say my favorite phrase to say is better me to better serve. And that’s pretty much why we do what we do, right? It’s why we adjust. It’s to make people be better from the inside out so they can be better to themselves so they can be better for their kids, better to other people and keep that ripple effect going. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): I mean, how many times have, I mean, it’s kind of strange, but how many times have we experienced somebody that is like disabled with pregnancy or they’re just like, they’re going through it. They’re like, like plotting around. Like you can tell their low back is just so sub-luxated. You can tell their hips are just like, need adjusted. You can tell they’re just so uncomfortable. And then you’re like, whoa, this isn’t a functional thing here. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Yeah, and then compared, translate that. That’s like, and what would that translate from an emotional standpoint, right? And from a healing standpoint, you’re in a place of fear. You’re in a place of discomfort. You’re not able to tap into that primitive part of your body and brain that will allow you to do the things women have been doing for centuries in a very easy intervention, free, natural way. So it’s like that cascade of things that starts going wrong, unfortunately. Stress babies come out of stress birds, of stress pregnancies. So they’re just kind of like feeding into that circle. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah. And a lot of people that are listening or will listen, it’s like people have been told that pregnancy is a medical procedure. And I’m not a woman, so I can’t speak like that. But I think that it should be something that is co-managed. And I think it’s something that should be a part of, like you said, mind, body, and spirit. Like you got to think about like what goes into bringing another life into the world. You have to think about like, what is the aftercare when it comes to somebody that goes through this? It’s like, that’s the other outside aspect that many people just don’t know how to facilitate is how do you take somebody that possibly got injured? Or that’s like dealing with like the body like stress after like a pregnancy, like there’s so much that goes into it. So it’s a really cool thing that you’ve like dedicated your time and interest to to learn and help more families. DR CRISTINA PADILLA DC (GUEST): Thank you. Thank you. I love it. I have so much fun in front in the office. It’s a great place. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): People need it and they don’t see, I do marketing for chiropractors and I’ll go out and I’ll see a pregnant mom or see babies. And they’re like, no, we’ll wait till the kid like needs it. We’ll wait till the kids like injured or something or they’re like, why would we bring our kid there? They’re not in pain. Yep. You know, like that’s strange. Why do you think the little one needs care? And I’m just like, well, best thing to do is to at least get the kids in and see if we can help. See if there’s something going on that we, you know, chiropractic might assist with and check it out. I’ll sign you up, bring the kid with you. We’ll che…

Now let’s hustle! LUKE MILLETT (PRODUCER): Hey guys, welcome to episode 562 of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. I’m your producer, Luke Millett, and here’s your host, James Chester. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So today we have the opportunity of interviewing Dr. Jenny Howard. If you want to hear a story about chiropractic in the Midwest, at Life West, stay tuned. Welcome back, this is another episode of the Chiro Hustle Podcast. It’s 562 of them. I know because I’ve done them all. Today I have Dr. Jenny Howard coming in from the seat of our country, the Midwest. I’m really excited what she’s working with. There’s a lot that she’s going to tell you about. But before we jump in to talk about all things Jenny Howard, I’m going to let you guys know why we do what we do over here at Chiro Hustle. First things first. Freedom of speech. We’ve never censored anyone. We know what it’s like to be marginalized. We know what it’s like to be shadow band and censored. We would never do that to anybody. So anybody that’s ever been our show, guess what? You can go back and listen to all of their interviews. Pretty cool, right? We do support medical freedom and family health freedom. It’s definitely a theme of what we do and why we do this because a lot of times people just don’t know where to go or who to trust. And we’ve picked Chiropractic as our sacred community to support. And that leads us into the next thing is philosophically, we do support and protect the sacred trust. It’s BJ Palmer’s last words. If you don’t know what they are, go and search for BJ Palmer’s sacred trust or BJ Palmer’s last word and you’re going to learn more about Chiropractic than you previously did. I guarantee you. And then as we roll into this, we do support civilization based Chiropractic in intelligence and universal intelligence. I know there shouldn’t have to say that stuff on a Chiropractic podcast, but we believe that when man or woman, the physical gets adjusted, it connects them to man or woman, the spiritual. If you want to learn some philosophy, go check out some green books. And with that, Dr. Jenny Howard, welcome to the show. DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Good afternoon. It’s so awesome to be here. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, you know, like long time coming, long time coming. DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Absolutely. Years, absolutely years. You’ve been chatting on Facebook for a long time and it’s finally has come to fruition. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah. And I know that you took a new position as campus director for Life West and it’s Bellevue, correct? DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Correct. Life West Bellevue. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): And I know we’re going to talk a whole lot about that. But first, let’s talk about you and your story that led up to this time. How did you get into Chiropractic and what inspires you to keep going? DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Oh, goodness. My story, gosh, I had a really good friend in high school, Dr. Laura Meredith. And she was heading off to Chiropractic School. And I knew nothing about Chiropractic. I gave Dr. Laura the hardest time for going to Chiropractic School, being into Chiropractic. I didn’t know anything about it. My parents are our families so medically based, right? So they taught me that it was, you know, voodoo this, voodoo that you don’t go to the Chiro Practor because they were listening to their medical doctors, right? So my friend goes off to Chiropractic School. She went down the road to Davenport, Iowa. And her sister, Dr. Marie Miller, shortly after returned. And she said to her sister, hey, I need a patient to go through this process with me. And Laura said, get Jenny in the office. She knows nothing about Chiropractic. And so I volunteered myself to go be Dr. Marie’s first patient. She took me through the examination, x-rays, reportifying, all the steps so she could get her grounding in the clinic. And what she didn’t know is that she really helped me. So prior to me seeing Dr. Miller, I had been working at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and I could barely sit in an office chair for, oh, I don’t know, like a half hour at the most. And that was my job to sit at the front desk all day and communicate to patients. And I would top Tylenol just to get through the day all day long. And soon after seeing Marie, I didn’t have to do that anymore. I felt better. I felt better in so many different ways. Like, I feel like I’m my own Chiropractic miracle story. You know, I didn’t have to take acid-reflex medication. I didn’t have to use my inhaler as much. All of these things in my body started functioning better. And I was like, wow, Dr. Marie, this is really cool. How do I get into this? And she’s like, why don’t you go to school and be a chiropractic assistant? You know, because you want to be a nurse. That’s kind of along the same field. You know, and I was like, oh, no, no, no, no, no, I’m going to be a doctor. And so I literally within six months of receiving my first adjustment, I moved to Davenport, Iowa and started Palmer that following fall. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): What a cool journey. DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Yeah, it’s been a quite a journey. My journey is always evolving with chiropractic. I, you know, getting out of that sense of being such a medical, medically based person, you know, when I grew up, my parents vaccinated me and I experienced all the things medical. And now it’s just changed my life for the better, honestly. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Yeah, you know, I hear so many great stories on our podcast, you know, doing around 1,300 interviews in the past six years. People are always curious, like, this is episode 562. Where’s those other ones? Well, a lot of times I go to like events that are chiropractic seminars are learning weekends and I’ll go and interview 20 people on a weekend. And I don’t count those as podcasts, but it gives the opportunity for the event that’s hosting those interviews and opportunity to have more people like you just now had a chance to tell your story, what excites you, what makes life better for you, and why you have so much passion for this thing called chiropractic that like many people don’t think that it can help with acid reflux. Many people don’t know that it can help with, you know, some of the things that I don’t know, most people don’t contribute to chiropractic. So it’s really cool that you did have a really powerful story and that started in downport, Iowa, and it looks like you’ve been practicing 15 years now. Yep. And I know that you’ve had some opportunities to do some leadership with the state of Nebraska. And there’s other things that you’ve been working on behind the scenes to support chiropractic politically. So talk a little bit about what it was like for you to get involved with the state association and how that led to where you are today with life west and the Midwest. DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Yeah. It’s our new hashtag, right? I was really so to kind of rewind a little bit. I was a student that was not involved at all when I was at school. And I think that’s one of my biggest regrets was going to school and leaving and not doing anything outside of school. I literally did nothing. And so I felt like a little bit of piece of me was kind of missing, if you will. And so about seven years ago, you know, I was struggling a little bit in practice, but I wanted to be involved. And I found that as soon as I got involved, things started happening for me. Like the abundance came back to me, if you will, the more you give, the more you get in return type of thing. And I wasn’t expecting that to happen, but I got involved on our state board as a district representative. And so I was one of two representatives for the Omaha area. And basically I was a board member where I was able to vote on issues within our association. We’d have meetings a couple times a year. And then some other, you know, board meetings as necessary. But I was the voice for my district, okay? And I would ask members, you know, what would you like to see? Who do you want here for continuing education? Do you want to do this? Do you agree with this and really just trying to be their voice? And they felt like I created that relationship with a lot of the members in the Omaha area. I don’t think that there’s one doctor around here that I couldn’t go up and talk to or walk into their office and just say, Hey, how are you? And you know, start up that conversation. So after being on the board for about three years in that district representative spot, I was appointed to secretary and I was secretary for two years and then ascended to vice president. And that recently I stepped away from the vice president role. One because I took this job and I didn’t know if I would have time to ascend into the presidency role, if you will, with running a college school campus and that. So I wanted to make sure that my time commitments were in the right place. Could I have done it? Absolutely. But my heart was more here with what I needed to get done with life west. And so that’s kind of how I switched that role. So I stepped off the board for about two weeks and then I got voted back in as a district representative again. I just can’t step away from it. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): Well here in your story, it just reminds me of like hometown, like hero ethics, you know, going in and doing the right thing. Like we’ve been misled, I think a lot with people in leadership roles. I wouldn’t say so much in the chiropractic space, but globally we have a lot of confusion with leaders and I think more leaders should get back to the times where they’ll go knock on somebody’s door and just show up and have a conversation with them and have an open door for people to actually have conversations about things that matter to them. And I think it’s something that needs to return. You know, I’m into marketing. So everybody out there wants to do marketing. They want to be digital, but that’s so disconnected. And I always try to tell people you should go back and go to marketing events and go to your farmer’s market and meet the community and go do the expos in your community and meet the people and go to the fairs and meet the people because that’s a way to build the product of chiropractic, not just for your practice, but the community needs places like that and they need people that are leaders in their community to show up like that. And you know, I’ve been kind of outside the bounds with like politics for a long time, just because I’m like, I don’t know that person, you know, I don’t know how they really act or how they really think. I’m just going off of an image. I’m going off of something that people are telling me. So when it comes back to the seat of chiropractic, like it’s really great to see that somebody is connected to the community. It’s really nice to see that somebody wants to see people benefit from having real live connection and starting something that really matters. And I think that’s really cool. And before the interview started, we were just kind of talking about like where you were at. And you told me that you guys just started like the school just started. DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Yeah, absolutely. I actually taught my first chiropractic history class this morning and you kind of get nervous. I always thought that I was going to be in education. And I actually thought I was going to be in Davenport, Iowa for the rest of my life. But that didn’t happen. I moved home shortly after graduation. And you know, I think I’m exactly where I need to be. But yeah, I wanted to be involved in education and then life west ended up in my back door and I was like, I want to be involved in this. And that’s kind of how I got here. I voiced that I wanted to be involved very strongly and I got the position. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): So let’s talk about life in the Midwest, life west in the Midwest. What have your experiences been so far from the profession and how has it been like perceived and what are some questions you’ve been getting? DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Yeah, I think the biggest perception that I have is like, how did they do that? You know, how did they set up a campus in a year? You know, because this really came to fruition. They started hunting our main campus. So life west and Hayward started hunting for an additional site. And they had, you know, a kind of a connection, if you will, like a business dating service, I would call it, that connected them with Bellevue University here in Nebraska. And the two campuses really gelled based on their ethos. You know, life west has that ethos to give, to do, to love, to serve from your own abundance without expecting anything in return. And every single thing that Bellevue University does encompasses that and they just, you know, it’s stated in their mission and vision differently, but the two campuses melded so well together. And so essentially what we’ve done is we’ve, we’re renting space at an existing college. They have all the amenities, food services for our students. There’s a gymnasium, there’s a library, anatomy and physiology labs, like all the amenities are here and we’re just renting space because Bellevue University, 90% of their students are online. So they have this space to bring the community in and make their campus grow in a way. JAMES CHESTER (HOST): That is really cool. Yeah, I didn’t know some of the nuts and bolts of like the systems that were involved out there. But, you know, I come, you know, I’m a Christian guy. So I love it when people plant churches and when they like go and like, you know, do the right thing in a community and give communities hope. And that’s kind of what I look at what you guys are doing. It’s like planting a university with a great ethical standard and great educational model into another location that can benefit from it. And I know that there’s some things that you wanted to talk to us about, about benefits and the faculty and where you guys are at and some of the growth that’s happening. So maybe you could just talk to people about why somebody would choose to come study there and why it’s something that you are supporting. DR JENNY HOWARD DC (GUEST): Yeah, well, our logo or our, I should say our motto is Nebraska. Why not? They ask…
