It was not long before the trio developed into the nucleus of one of the most popular bands in Chicago. \n \nOver the past five years, Stellar Road has played hundreds of shows across the United States, from the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles to Soldier Field in Chicago. In 2004, the band released their debut album, Better Than Yesterday. This album featured fan favorites like "Breathe," "Rain," and "Fade Away." The songs quickly grew popular with the public, leading to a demanding tour schedule and appearances on NBC, WGN, and ABC. It was not long before the band was known as one of the Midwest's best live acts. \n \nStellar Road is composed of Jack Daly, Mike Daly, Justin Griffin, Reese Jones, and Adrian Pacheco. Episode 274 - CLEEMANN from Copenhagen to Chicago Sep 23, 2010
    Show notes

A KNIGHT IN FUZZY ARMOUR WINS HEARTS WITH MODERN MUSIC AND SWEET SIMPLICITY COPENHAGEN'S CLEEMANN COMES TO CHICAGO SEPTEMBER 25, 2010 ABOUT: August 19, 2010 Chicago, IL -- CLEEMANN is a one-man musical force that wants the world to care more. In his album "45 Minutes Mostly About Caring" he proves a simple formula as he draws from Radiohead, Nick Drake and Elliott Smith in acoustic songs that use electronic elements and tingle with humanity. The Copenhagen, Denmark-based songwriter's gentle, intense pop music will fill the air in Chicago September 25, 2010 as he performs at the ViaDuct Theater, 3111 N. Western Ave., at 10:00 pm ($10 cover) as part of his DARE TO CARE tour for Series Two Records. CLEEMANN's songs all have one-word titles and he views his work as "investigations in the tricky art of writing music." With optimism, modesty and a knack for rhymes and musical arrangements, CLEEMANN has been likened to Sondre Lerche, Josh Rouse, The Notwist, Lali Puna, Low, David Lynch and Spoon and has received strong reviews for his 10-song album, "45 Minutes Mostly About Caring." CLEEMANN REVIEWS: "It's hard to deny that there's something genius about his work." - Andrew Fenstermaker, Fensepost, Seattle, WA, December 2008 / "Far too selfless to have been birthed by the Western world." - Ron Trembath, FensePost, 2010 / "There are two qualities I look for [in] pop music- catharsis and satisfaction...CLEEMANN delivers both." - Jesseca Bagherpour, Senior Editor, DayBowBow, January 2010 CLEEMANN is presented by Chicago Acoustic Underground, an organization committed to original music known for podcasts with songwriters. Opening is Goodbyehome, an energetic rock-folk project with Conor Oberst-like songwriting supporting their album "The Troubles."

    Episode 273 - jess yaokum Sep 16, 2010
    Show notes

Yoakum's style, described as "Patty Griffin joined forces with the Sundays" (Coffehouse Tour, Heather Corcoran) is well suited to intimate venues and listening rooms. IMG Music Promotions says, "Yoakum's vocals transcend genre while pulling the listener in with uncommon tones and flavors. Lyrically refreshing, she hooks the listener with thoughts and ideas not often found in today's mainstream music..." While on tour, Yoakum was so compelled by the talent and warmth of the Chicago music scene, that she left Boston a few months after returning from tour and has now settled there. She compiled the best of her songwriting over the last 4 years and recorded This Quiet Mile in her new home with engineer and producer, Christopher Greene at Truself Music. Contemplative and lyric-driven, the album is a reflection on life, love, and growing through where we are to arrive where we're meant to be.jess' performance on CAU was a long time coming and her band is a perfect fit. Her music and lyrics are beautiful. .

    Episode 272 - Kajanjan Sep 07, 2010
    Show notes

Though influenced by a range of music (Brit Pop, Kon Tiki?) "Kajanjan's" music is truly an American creation. The singer-songwriter, Dan Price, along with band mates, Ben White (cello/banjo), Paul Gulyas and Donnie Biggins (of the Shams Band) all grew up in Oak Park, IL. Now based in Chicago they are a talented group of musicians who are passionate about music. Kajanjan live is a melodious folk experience, deeply Americana, but with fairy dust. Dream-like stories, head-games and heartache. With Dan Price's beautiful lyrics, vocals, and guitar and Ben White on Cello, Banjo, vocals, Donnie Biggins on guitar and vocals and Paul Gulyas on bass and vocals, this was an amazing night of music. Michael Teach, Founder/Host, CAU
