    Episode 324 - The Honey Dewdrops May 31, 2011
    Show notes

Many thanks to Jared Ingersol for bringing The Honey Dewdrops to CAU. They are absolutely brilliant and authenitic. They are two of the nicest people on a mission to keep the sounds of the Blue Ridge Mountians in the minds of today's rock and rollers.Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish make their home in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia. The couple has been playing music in some capacity for over 15 years, but honed in on their natural duet abilities 7 years ago when they met for the first time in college. It was their love of folk music that brought them together and has since taken them out on the road to tour fulltime as the award-winning duet they are today. Writing and singing in the veins of folk and old country music, the Dewdrops entwine harmony singing with tight instrumentation and craft songs that are simple and fine-tuned. Theirs are new songs from the southern mountains that ring with originality. After their appearance and first place win on a 2008 talent show broadcast of NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion", the Dewdrops began their careers as songwriters and have since released two critically acclaimed albums, "If the Sun Will Shine" (2009) and "These Old Roots" (2010) both of which have charted at the #1 and #2 positions on the Folk DJ-L Charts for 2010.

    Episode 323 - Gareth Woods May 30, 2011
    Show notes

Gareth Woods joined us on a chilly but sunny day in December and seranaded us with his wonderful music. What a wonderful day and what beautiful music it was. Below is some bio information.I grew up in Ireland. I moved to Chicago at age 23, having flipped a coin outside a travel agents in Dublin. My cousin and I had decided to hit the states in the summer of '95 but we forgot to discuss to which city. Heads for New York, tails for Chicago, the coin landed on tails. We didn't care since we had no clue really about the differences, that's how green we were! I gave my first performances on the subways of Chicago and soon landed a gig at the Abbey Pub on Chicago's north side. It wasn't long before I was a regular on the circuit playing 3 to 5 nights a week. A good life.. for a 23 year old! It's been 14 years since that summer and during that time I've been a waiter, barman, worked for a design firm, sold real estate, sold advertising TVs, worked for a Credit card processing Co. to mention but a few, but always, first and foremost I've been a musician. It's part of me, as undeniable as my nose! This website is dedicated to that part of me, my music. I hope you like it and if you come to see me play don't forget to come up and say hi, Gareth
