2011-05-15-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning May 15th 2011 in the 10:30 service.

    Scripture: Colossians 3:1-5; 1:17; Psalm 139

    Topic: Hope

    Notes:

    - The old you is dead, does not exist; let that become a reality- We came into the world dead because of sin- By the power of the Holy Spirit we were quickened when we heard the gospel and accepted, received and believed- We were dead to God and now are dead to sin, the law, the principles of the world- The law could not save us from our sins; only could highlight them- Jesus kept the law, fulfilled the law and gave us His righteousness- We are dead to the law and alive in Christ Jesus; no condemnation against us- We are in warfare but the war is won; He gave us His victory; I have eternal life- Don’t mix philosophy with faith- Don’t go back to what Christ already fulfilled: feast days, holy days...- I am a child of God, crucified with Christ, buried with Him (in baptism) and raised from the dead- If Jesus can save you from sin, any other problem is not even an issue- Jesus holds everything together- We have all done crazy, prayerless, careless things, but God is still there (if I make my bed in hell)- You may feel far from God, but God is not far from you

    Show notes

2011-05-08-0830 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning May 8th, 2011 in the 8:30 service.

    Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30; Exodus 14:5, 8-15

    Topic: Forgiveness

    Notes:

    - Story of mother on death bed asking for forgiveness- Our sense of unworthiness, inability to forgive ourselves, desperately wondering if we’ll ever get our lives fixed... carrying a burden not intended by God- Come to Jesus and find rest- Jesus is meek. The fight must come out of you; stop trying to prove something... or to be right all the time. Be reliant on the Father- His yoke is easy (yoke not of oxen, but a stick for carrying buckets over the shoulders); if my yoke isn’t easy, whose yoke did I put on?- When I carry someone else’s yoke, there’s no rest in my soul, no peace in my life- God put the Israelites at the Red Sea; Pharaoh meant to recapture them- They went out with boldness, then fear overtook them (as they looked back)- God to Moses “Stop crying out and move forward.” You have to start moving forward before God will open up what hinders your progress- One of the heaviest burdens to carry is unforgiveness- Satan knows he cannot recapture you so he tries to control you- You may be a child of God under Satan’s control if you are unwilling to forgive- Forgiveness is the most powerful God-like action we can do- Great marriages, friendships, families are made up of great forgivers- Forgiveness always defeats Satan, brings victory, lightens burdens and brings rest

    Scripture: Psalm 56

    Topic: Suffering

    Notes:

    - If trouble comes your way, what will be the first thing you do?- I fully expect trouble- David ran to the Lord- God collects our prayers and tears- I know when I call on God my enemies will turn back because God is for me...- God will help you because He is God.

    Show notes

2011-05-01-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning May 1st, 2011 in the 10:30 service.

    Scripture: Luke 5:4-10; John 13:7; Isaiah 43:19; I Corinthians 10:13

    Topic: Sovereignty of God

    Notes:

    - By God’s design... you are where He means for you to be right now- There are no such things as an accident, luck, chance, karma, fortune... God is sovereign- Hagar, Joseph, Moses...situations seem unfair but were ordered by God- God knew David would sin but called him anyway- Disciples, Jesus, apostles after resurrection... all tortured. - Why does God allow His children to face what we face? To show us that in each situation He is full in control- We think our sin disqualifies us or that God only moves for us when we are faithful- The more we realize how rebellious we are, the more he pours blessing on us- I’ve walked in fear that I haven’t repented and am incapable...- Repentance is to take it to Jesus; we don’t have the ability to never sin again- He knows what you feel- God led Israel to the Red Sea, an impossible place, so they could see who He is- You don’t understand now but someday you will know- You will face no temptation that is not common to man

    Show notes

2011-04-24-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning April 24th, 2011 in the 10:30 service.

    Scripture: Matthew 28:1-8; Acts 1:3

    Topic: Resurrection

    Notes:

    - The resurrection of Jesus is not just some theory- Some say the body was stolen; if by disciples the truth would have come out by torture; if by His enemies they would have put it on display- Some say He was in a coma; if so how did he move the stone to get out- Evolution: not one fact to back it up, yet people embrace evolution while calling the resurrection a foolish theory- Jesus appeared to hundreds: Mary Magdalene, disciples, men on the road to Emmaus, Thomas, seven disciples fishing, 500 men worshipping, Stephen being stoned, Saul- Some did not recognize Him; unless He opens your eyes you never will- It is not our place to write anyone off; God never gave up on me- Jesus called us and will continue to use us; let God do the growing- God never deals with two people the same way (story of church people at bar)- If He calls you He will perfect you... for the rest of your life- If the resurrection is nothing more than a beautiful historical event, it is worthless- The resurrection is a present day active reality in my life- When you become a believer you become victorious for eternity- He conquered death; you will never die- God has kept me; I am already seated in a heavenly place

    Show notes

2011-04-17-0830 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning April 17th, 2011 in the 8:30 service.

    Scripture:Acts 7:25-33

    Topic: Humility

    Notes:

    - Stephen’s account of Moses... killed a man to deliver another (by his own hand)- Peter cut off the ear of the servant of the high priest.- We too feel like we must do something, that by our hand things will be better- Our life must be of prayer and dependent on God- Moses wandering... the burning bush. God took his sword and then his sandals; first impulse, then his ability to run and hide- We run off excited or in fear while we should stand still until God finishes talking- We have been impetuous, impulsive and have relied too little on prayer- We’ve pulled out the sword and used it when it should not have been used- We’ve run away afraid of what God was doing in our lives- ... we pay for it for the rest of our lives- Abraham, Sarah, Hagar... tried to do it on their own. The Ishmaelites were born...

    Show notes

2011-04-10-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning April 10th, 2011 in the 10:30 service.

    Scripture: Isaiah 64:4-8

    Topic: Prayer

    Notes:

    - He acts for those who wait for Him- You must stir yourself up to reconnect with God- If we really believed something happens when we pray, wouldn’t we do more of it?- We get discouraged when we don’t see immediate definable results- The greatest sin in the church is prayerlessness... other sins, sickness are prevalent because of and the state of our country is due to prayerlessness- It is our call to pray without ceasing- The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit to go out and affect a group of people- Cornelius-while he was praying, God was speaking to people- Peter’s vision-what God called clean, he was calling dirty- Prayer is not just to get out of trouble or to get by a little easier- We are sometimes focused so much on personal situations that we can’t see God moving outside of that- The Lord’s prayer... don’t get comfortable with God or you lose respect; we are too familiar... we need a revival of fear and respect- There are people around the world suffering for Christ; we haven’t truly suffered- The greatest sin the human race has committed against itself is slavery, human trafficking- Pray for the persecuted and martyred Christians around the world
