    Canadian Club of Toronto

The Canadian Club of Toronto is Canada’s preeminent public affairs podium. Since 1897, we have served an ambitious and important mission: to connect Canadians with world-class leaders and newsmakers and be a leading platform for influencers to engage Canadians on what matters most.

Over our 125 year history as a not-for-profit organization, we continue to be a forum for Governors General and Prime Ministers, CEOs and Nobel laureates, scientists, artists and innovators. We have a proud tradition of hosting national and international leaders in politics, business, social innovation and the media, and our members and audiences are drawn from an equally diverse and distinguished group of leaders.

The Canadian Club addresses routinely generate national coverage across multiple platforms. In addition to reported media coverage and our in-person audience of several hundred people, we make our programming accessible to all Canadians through broadcasts on cable television and webcasts, available online.

Events run between September and June in downtown Toronto. As an independent, non-profit organization, we make all our events open to the public. Tickets can be purchased online or through our office at 416-364-5590.

Women-led businesses are good for Canada. Research tell us that not only do they boost Canada’s GDP, but female led businesses also increase national well-being and competitiveness while improving women’s employability, empowerment and gender equality. A Royal Bank of Canada study estimated that by 2011, female small- and medium-sized businesses have already contributed $148-billion in economic activity. If this number increased by just 10%, a staggering $198-billion would be added to the economy over the next decade. Yet, only 15% of all Canadian small and medium sized businesses are majority-owned by women. Clearly, we need more women starting, building, leading and growing businesses of all kinds. But it isn’t always easy. Many women business founders struggle to access the capital, technology, networks, and knowledge that they need. Join us as panelists Vicki Saunders (Founder of SheEO), Sharon Connolly (BDC), and Suzanne West (Imaginea Energy) take to the stage to discuss the need to unleash the power and potential of this significant untapped resource of talented women business leaders. This event will be moderated by Arlene Dickinson, CEO of Venture Communications and former Cast Member of Dragon’s Den.

There are few substitutes, however, for the trustworthy, authoritative, in-depth news coverage provided by Canadian television stations. In this era of technological change and evolving business models, it is important not lose sight of the fundamental value of news and information that enable Canadians to participate in their democracy. Join CRTC Chairman Jean-Pierre Blais as he shares his thoughts on television news and the changes that will soon be coming to Canadian television.
