The Penn State football team learned some devastating news this week after a tough loss to Oregon in the White Out. Blue White Illustrated learned on Wednesday that starting linebacker Tony Rojas suffered a long-term injury and will be out for the foreseeable future. The defense was already paper-thin at linebacker, with only Rojas, Amare Campbell, and veteran Dom DeLuca seeing snaps with the starting unit. Last week against the Ducks, DeLuca only played eight defensive snaps, while Rojas played 70 and Campbell played 75 of the 80 total snaps on defense.

We discuss what the next steps are for the Penn State defense under Jim Knowles and discuss how important Rojas was to the scheme. We'll highlight the next players up and what the team can do from here.

The team will have its final practice on the East Coast tonight, which the media will be able to attend. UCLA parts ways with another coach

We'll start today's show with more breaking news out of UCLA, where the coaching staff has suffered another loss. The LA Times reported last night that offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri has parted ways with the program, and Jerry Neuheisel will take over as playcaller.

How does this affect Penn State's game plan for the Bruins? What could change in such a short order? We'll discuss the impact of such a move on this weekend's game.

Penn State offensive fixes

During Monday's press conference, Penn State head coach James Franklin fielded multiple questions about how his offense has performed and what it might need to do in order to change the narrative around the program. Today, we'll utilize some of that information, along with our own research into the offensive output, and propose some short-term and long-term solutions that can help reignite the Lions' offensive productivity.

We'll look at the run game and how the team can reorganize its ground attack. However, the bulk of our time will be spent examining the Penn State passing attack and how the team can improve its ineffective aerial offense. Despite the anger and concern, there might be some quick fixes that could spell a positive outcome for the program's top quarterback, Drew Allar.

Then, we'll examine some longer-term changes to the offense that may take time but would be worth considering.

Finally, we'll look at the game from a prognostication standpoint and discuss Penn State's over-under in this week's Best Bets segment. We'll end the show discussing UCLA's offense and defense as we've seen it to give fans an expectation of how this weekend should go.

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team fell to Oregon 30-24 on Saturday in front a sold-out Beaver Stadium. Emotions were high in the White Out, and the fallout of another big game loss is fueling the deepening frustration between a growing section of the fanbase and its team. Today on the BWI Live Show, we'll talk about the game, Penn State head coach James Franklin's comments on Monday about the loss, and of course, your questions. Got frustrations you want to vent? Penn State vs Oregon recap

Most of today's show, as it has for the first month of the season, will deal with the Penn State offense. This time, we're recapping the team's loss to Oregon and spending most of the show's first half discussing the three points and 109 yards the team gained before the fourth quarter. What's wrong with that side of the ball? We'll give our thoughts on what happened and where the blame should fall after the loss.

Of course, some fans are unhappy with the 400+yards the defense gave up on Saturday, despite holding Oregon to just three points through halftime and 17 points through regulation. We'll discuss how the defense performed and what they need to do to play a stingier brand of football.

Between the Lines

After we give our reaction to the game, we'll turn our attention to Franklin's comments during his Monday press conference. How does the team bounce back and make adjustments? How hard are those adjustments to make? We'll share Franklin's thoughts with you and then provide an interpretation of his words.

Fitz's recruiting update

Finally, we'll give a quick recap of the recruiting news from this past weekend. Over 100 recruits attended the game and experienced one of the best atmospheres in college football. Penn State vs Oregon Postgame Show Sep 28, 2025

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team lost to the Oregon Ducks in the 2025 White Out game. It was another big game opportunity to make a statement for the program, and the team fell at home, despite an electric atmosphere from the crowd. Join the BWI Live Postgame show to discuss what happened and how the team let the latest regular-season win slip away. We're live at the final whistle of the game on YouTube and will spend an hour with fans discussing their thoughts on the game while breaking down the action from our perspective.

Penn State struggle on offense in another big game

The Penn State offense failed to show up in another big game. The team gained just 69 yards in the first half and scored a field goal early in the game. Unsurprinsgly, the offense was poor on third down again tonight, going only 4-11 (36%) through the third quarter.

The offense woke up late, with a 34-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Drew Allar to receiver Devonte Ross. Penn State had the ball with four minutes left in the game down seven points, but the offense failed to punch the end zone to tie the game up.

Defense plays a warrior's game

With the offense struggling, the Nittnay Lions defense was able to keep the team in the game against an explosive and dangerous Oregon offense. Penn State gave up yards, but kept a lid on Dakorien Moore and Dante Moore, the talented duo at receiver and quarterback for Oregon.

Linebaker Amare Campbell and safety Zakee Wheatley led the team in tackles and plays throughout the game, but wore down late, giving up two touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to give up an insurmountable lead.

The team hosts more than 140 prospects this weekend for the White Out and reporter Ryan Snyder has spent the last month collecting the important names of prospects who are joining the team for the game. We'll highlight the list overall, and break it out into different sections.

Snyder wrote several articles about the players coming to campus this weekend, including the players for whom Penn State is truly a contender and those who are coming but are pretenders in the race for a spot with the Nittany Lions. We'll also highlight the underrated prospects you should pay attention to this weekend for the Class of 2027.

Game Preview: Defensive matchup breakdown

It's a simple show this week with just two topics. We'll end the show by discussing the game and giving our thoughts on the defensive breakdown between the two teams. Penn State recruiting news update

It was a black week for several schools, as Virginia Tech head coach and former Penn State defensive coordiantor Brent Pry and UCLA head coach Deshaun Foster were fired by their schools. With the changes in NCAA rules, the gates are now open for the players on those rosters to enter the transfer portal. What does this mean for Penn State and its roster? Fitz and Snyder will discuss the potential opportunities for adding players and how that process works in the current landscape.

Next, we'll discuss the most important visitor from last weekend's win over Villanova. Five-star running back Kemon Spell was supposed to join the program for the game against FIU the week before but an ankle injury prevented him from making the trip. Instead, Spell made the trip to Happy Valley last weekend. We'll discuss what it means for the team to get its top recruit for 2027 back on campus two weekends in a row.

Nonconference recruiting recap

After that, we'll transition into discussing how the first three games of the season went for the team's recruiting efforts. Snyder has been tracking who is showing up on campus for the team's non-conference games and gives us a broad look at what Penn State accomplished in the last month.

We'll follow that up with a White Out preview and what fans should expect about one week from the biggest home game of the recruiting calendar for this cycle.

Finally, we'll discuss the recruiting plan for the team this weekend. With the extra time to recruit, Penn State's coaches will be out on the road seeing commits and prospects. The Penn State Nittany Lions football team is on its bye week and opened practice to the media on Tuesday evening for our weekly look at the program's progress. Today, we'll recap what we saw during the 15-minute window and what Penn State head coach James Franklin had to say after practice. We'll also take your questions in the BWI Mailbag and do a stock up/stock down report for the first month of the 2025 season.

Penn State practice report

Blue White Illustrated was at practice this week and will give our recount of what we saw, plus show you the team's one-on-one drills for fans watching the YouTube version. The team pitted its young receivers against its young defensive backs to create competition among the players battling to see playing time later in the year. Who stood out, and what else did we learn from practice last night? We'll discuss.

Next, we'll highlight the most interesting things that Franklin said when asked about his team last night after practice concluded. We'll play you his comments about the young players standing out during the bye week and what he expects from his skill players and quarterbacks on offense to help the team make plays.

Stock Report and Best Bets

We're now one month through the college football season, with Penn State resting this week after the conclusion of its nonconference season. We'll discuss the players who have improved their stock through the first three games and those who have seen their stock decline.

From there, we'll transition to our weekly Best Bets segment with Greg Pickel. With Penn State off this week, which teams is he picking? The Nittany Lions have failed to cover in any of the team's three games this year, so is this an opportunity to hit on all three? Join the show to find out!
