Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft made the stunning move on Sunday, Oct 12 to fire long-time head coach James Franklin from his position. On Monday, Kraft spoke to the media about the decision, outlining his reasons, what comes next, and how Penn State can recover from its current state. After that, interim head coach Terry Smith spoke to reporters for about 25 minutes about the team's state. Today on the BWI Live show, we'll discuss the critical moments from yesterday's events. We'll also recap the game that led to the decision, Penn State's 22-21 loss to Northwestern on Homecoming.

Pat Kraft outlines decision and reasons for firing Franklin
We'll start the show with the most important news from yesterday: Kraft's reasoning for making the move after the team's 0-3 skid in Big Ten play. We'll play quotes from his press conference, which you can hear on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel to provide context to the conversation.
Next, we'll discuss what Smith had to say about the state of the team and what he thinks led to the collapse after the White Out loss to Oregon.
Head coaching search and Drew Allar injury
Next, we'll discuss the coaching search and what we know at this time about the team's plans for the next Penn State football leader. Sean Fitz has his initial hot board of candidates on the site, which you can read for just $1 to get a week's worth of access.
In any normal season, if a senior quarterback left a game with a season-ending injury, it would call for a video unto itself. Yet with the ground-breaking news on Sunday, Drew Allar's season, and Penn State career-ending injury has gone on as a side conversation. We'll discuss the fallout and impact of his injury for the rest of the year.
Penn State vs Northwestern
It's a jam-packed show, so our attention to the loss that ignited the change may get underrepresented on the show. However, we'll still discuss the loss to Northwestern this week and what led to the collapse of Penn State's defense.
