Penn State football will host nine wide receivers in June for its official visit slate. While all share similar traits, not every receiver is built the same or plays the same. Today, we're counting down the top five players we like the most out of this group. Join BWI Live at 10 a.m. on YouTube as Sean Fitz and T-Frank count down their favorite wideouts.

Penn State's list of potential commits

For those unfamiliar with Penn State's official visit list, here's the group in no particular order.

    Jeff Exinor

    Matthew Outten

    Lex Cyrus

    Quincy Porter

    Corey Simms

    Philip Bell

    Tazz Williams

    Naeshaun Montgomery

    Samari Reed

As you may have noticed, today's prompt is not to list them for their potential or to list which player is 'best'. Instead, we're going off of personal preference. During that process, we'll hopefully learn more about the players today's hosts select and why they like them.

Which player is your favorite? Put your reply below in the YouTube comments section, or join the conversation on the Lions Den Message forum!

Is Penn State football a college playoff contender? The ESPN PFI is out and has the Nittany Lion as one of the top 12 programs in the country. Today on the BWI Live Show, we're discussing the team's chances of making the college football playoff, and why the metric favors Penn State so much.

    Agree? Disagree?

Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube and discuss your thoughts with the expert panel of football analysts. Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer answer questions from the live chat and the Blue White Illustrated Lions Den Community in the BWI Mailbag. Join the show to hear what's on the mind of Penn State fans this week.

    Fitz's Recruiting Update

We'll start the show with a critical update on the Penn State football recruiting efforts, which dominated the news cycle this past weekend. Penn State hosted 11 key prospects on official visits to kick off this critical recruiting window.

    How did things go?

Fitz discussed that earlier this week on the site and gave listeners and viewers an overview of the feedback he received. Will Penn State land a commit from this group? We'll discuss.

    BWI Mailbag

Finally, we'll discuss your thoughts and questions in the BWI Mailbag. Will Penn State use Abdul Carter effectively? How will the offense and defense be different or more efficient in 2024 than they were last year? We've got that, and more ready on the BWI Live Show!

The final Penn State wrestling show and podcast from Blue-White Illustrated of May is now live. Host Thomas Frank Carr and reporter Greg Pickel have plenty to discuss, including a new position the Nittany Lions aim to fill plus a preview of a major event on the annual freestyle calendar.

The duo starts this week's episode with talk about a job posting tied to head coach Cael Sanderson's program. It is looking for a NIL director. The new position on the leader of the Lions' staff will be tasked with various things. It includes helping with recruiting, providing "administrative support for NIL fundraising and educational efforts," building relationships with potential donors, tracking "all incoming NIL gifts, pledges, and donations from supporters of Penn State wrestling," and ensuring compliance rules are followed. Other responsibilities are sure to be a part of the job.

You can watch this week’s show in video player above and also on YouTube. Or, you can listen at your favorite destinations for audio like SPOTIFY and APPLE.

Why does Penn State wrestling need an NIL director? What does it mean about the evolving college athletics landscape? And how can it push Sanderson's already highly-successful program to higher heights? Carr and Pickel discuss.

From there, the show moves on to the U20 and U23 World Team Trials. Competitors from across the country will be in Geneva, Ohio Friday-Sunday to try and make the U.S. U20 and U23 teams that will compete at the world championships. –Four Penn State Class of 2024 recruits already sit in the U20 best-of-three finals: Luke Lilledahl (57 kilograms), PJ Duke (70 kilograms), Zack Ryder (79 kilograms), and Connor Mirasola (92 kilograms). Each needs to win two of three matches to make the U20 team.

More: Penn State wrestling outlook: Will the Lions have a new starter at 125?

Other Penn State ties in the U20 tournament (note that entries can change up until the action starts Saturday):

57 kilograms: Cael Nasdeo, Luke Lilledahl

    61 kilograms: Kysion Garcia

70 kilograms: Tyler Kasak, PJ Duke

    74 kilograms: Joe Sealey

79 kilograms: Will Henckel, Zack Ryder

    86 kilograms: Josh Barr

    92 kilograms: Connor Mirasola

The Penn State group in the U23 bracket includes reigning NCAA champion Greg Kerkvliet, who will compete at 125 kilograms, and NCAA qualifier Aaron Nagao, who is in the 61-kilogram weight class. Other NLWC entries include:

    65 kilograms: Matt Rodriguez

    79 kilograms: Erik Gibson

    92 kilograms: Lucas Cochran

Penn State Football will host 11 prospects for its first official visit to the June recruiting calendar, starting on Friday. On today's BWI Live Recruiting Show, we'll discuss the importance of these prospects, the outlook for the summer when hosting a prospect for the first weekend of the summer period, and more. Join the show live at 10 a.m. on YouTube to get in on the conversation!

We'll also discuss the next wave of potential Penn State recruits heading to Happy Valley on Saturday and Sunday for the team's first summer prospect camps. Will the team find another Peter Gonzalez, who blew away the team's testing drills at this time last year on the way to an official visit and commitment? We'll discuss the team's process of identifying and recruiting players today.

Now is a perfect time to subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel. The team will get several critical recruiting commitments over the next few months, and the best way to know when that happens is to subscribe and enable notifications so you know when we drop a commitment video.

    Penn State official visit weekend

This weekend's visitors descend on Happy Valley starting on Friday, May 31. The team has gone quiet with commitments since before the Blue-White Game in April with running back Alvin Henderson. So who might be the next player to take the plunge? The defensive roster for the recruiting class of 2025 is sparse so a commitment from edge defender Cedric Works or Max Granville would be a big win for Penn State.

Yet the headliners for this weekend are the receivers. Quincy Porter, Lex Cyrus and Corey Simms will each try Penn State on for size over the next several days. Will any join Lyric Samuel in the receiver room?

We'll also discuss the impact of getting the nation's top linebacker Ty Jackson to campus. Can the Nittany Lions snag the elite Florida recruit?

    Prospect camps start this weekend

On top of the critical visitors coming to campus, the team needs to find the next wave of recruits. Prospect camps start on Saturday and continue on Sunday. Last year, Peter Gonzalez put together an impressive performance that landed him a scholarship offer and a spot in the Class of 2024. Are there any players who might fit that bill this year?

We'll also discuss how important these camps are for the recruiting department for the next cycle in 2026.

    Join us!

Join the show live to ask your questions about the official visit weekend, prospect camp and more!

    RB Questions for 2024: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/news/3-questions-facing-the-penn-state-running-backs-entering-summer/

Penn State football’s first official visit weekend starts this Friday, May 31. But even before his first chance to host his top targets in an official capacity, wide receiver’s coach Marques Hagans is on the hot seat with many fans. The team’s struggles to generate separation and a consistent passing game in 2023 tanked the team’s best chance to defeat Ohio State and led to another low-wattage performance against Michigan.

But this is the first year that Hagans will have a chance to develop relationships with and recruit players that fit his vision and style for the team. But by now, we have a much better idea of what that style of player looks like.

Today on the BWI Live Show, we’re discussing what we’ve learned from Hagan’s first recruiting class prospects and what he’s prioritizing in a player. Join the show at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss the team’s passing attack and whatever else is on your mind! With recruiting news about to get white-hot, now is a great time to subscribe to our YouTube Channel so you don’t miss any breaking news or commitment videos.

Tyseer Denmark and a Big 33 Recap

The Pennsylvania squad dominated the annual Big 33 game this past weekend, winning 31-7, scoring all of their points in the first half. Four-star Penn State led that scoring barrage commit Tyseer Denmark, who had three touchdowns on four targets in the game.

We’ll discuss what we learned from that performance and how Denmark showed some skills at a new position that we hadn’t seen before. We’ll also review the day of Kenny Woseley, who played cornerback for the Pennsylvania team.

Finally, we’ll highlight Greg Pickel’s latest Penn State football column for Blue White Illustrated.

Tracing the evolution of receiver recruiting

Next, we’ll move on to our main topic, Penn State wide receiver recruiting. With three important recruits visiting the program this weekend, it’s important to understand what Hagans is trying to build with the Nittany Lions. We’ll discuss his coaching style, what he emphasizes, and how he likely came to lean on those traits. We'll compare the players on the current roster, previous recruiting classes before Hagans, and the styles of the last coach, Taylor Stubblefield.

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team departs on its next quest for a postseason berth this fall in a new, unexplored 12-team playoff. Many situations, players, and decisions will affect the ultimate outcome, but not all in the way. On today's BWI Live Football Show, we're discussing those things that hold an oversized place in our minds about the upcoming season.

To end the show, we'll also be taking your questions in the BWI Live Mailbag. Join us at 10 a.m. on YouTube or check out the replay embedded in this article.

    Fitz's Recruiting Update

The Big 33 All-Star game between Pennsylvania and Maryland happened last weekend, with three future Penn State football players competing. The star of the event was Nittany Lions commit Tyseer Denmark, who had three touchdowns in the standout performance. What did BWI Publisher Sean Fitz take from the game? He highlights Denmark, run-on Aaron Enterline, and defenisve back commit Kenny Woseley on today's feature.

From there, we discuss the Penn State wide receiver room further and try to properly contextualize the role that Denmark or fellow freshman Peter Gonzalez can have on the 2024 season.

    Penn State news updates

We start this week's news update by reviewing the Penn State Board of Trustees meeting from last Tuesday. The board overwhelmingly voted to fund the renovations to the stadium last week, which we previewed before the event. However, we're reviewing the arguments made during the meeting for the positive and negative votes. We also take a question from the chat about preserving the ambiance of Penn State's home field while providing a modern and luxurious experience.

Next, we review the civil suit by former Penn State team doctor Scott Lynch. Dr. Lynch sued the university for what he alleged was a retaliatory firing by the program. We discuss the prosecution's claims and preview what the defense is likely to counter with.

Most Overrated Storylines for the upcoming season

Today's main topic surrounds the overrated ideas and narratives about the team's performance this fall. Is Abdul Carter's move to the defensive end a major negative impact on the linebackers? Will he be a game-changer as an edge rusher? We debate if those topics are overrated in the conversation about this upcoming season.

Next, we discuss the third rail of the Penn State offense. We all agree that the Lion's passing attack is a key issue for the team this fall. However, we debate the idea that Drew Allar has to be an elite quarterback for the offense to function better than it did last year. Is that true? Or is it overrated?

Finally, we discuss the topics you want to discuss on the BWI Mailbag to close out the show.

It’s been a busy week of Penn State football recruiting. The Elite 11 regional in State College and the Baltimore Under Armour Camp featured some of the region’s top talent at every position this past weekend. The Nittany Lions had top targets at each camp and Blue White Illustrated was at both to see how things played out. We’re diving deep into those performances today on the BWI Live Show. Plus, wide receiver’s coach Marques Hagans secured an official visit from a top target on his board in Quincy Porter Jr.

Penn State gets Official Visit from Porter

Porter is widely regarded as the team’s top wide receiver target in the region, if not overall. So, how and when did Penn State land an official visit for the 6-3 wide receiver? Ryan Snyder broke down the news on the site earlier this week and discussed the situation on today’s show.

Meanwhile, Sean Fitz took a deep dive into the team’s three running back recruits in the 2025 class. What did he find, and what new information did he gather this week? He’ll highlight some of that on today’s show, but for the full details, check out his article.

Messiah Mickens, Kevin Brown, Tyler Merrill, and seven other Pennsylvania players made the On300 update for the Class of 2026 this week. So what else did we learn about the early rankings for the next cycle? We’ll dive into the update with Fitz and Snyder.

UA Baltimore and Elite 11 recaps

We already touched on the Elite 11 during Fitz’s recruiting recap on the Tuesday BWI Live Show. But today we’ll dig deeper on the conversations Fitz had with the team’s top quarterback prospects he spoke with after the event.

Meanwhile, Snyder was in Baltimore to see the bulk of Penn State’s top skill position and trench targets this past weekend. What did he learn, and who did he talk to? Join the show to find out!

The final Elite 11 regional took place in State College for the second year last Sunday. On today’s BWI Live Show, we’re discussing the top Penn State quarterback prospects who attended the event. Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to hear how those players performed and how they stacked up to the competition.

Penn State quarterback targets at Elite 11

For the first time in two years, a Penn State quarterback commit didn’t make the Elite 11 finals. After Jaxon Smolik and Ethan Grunkmeyer secured spots in the elite quarterback camp the previous two cycles, three-star commit Bekkem Kritza didn’t make the cut.

But how did he stack up with the group and how close was he to making the list? We were at the event on Sunday and give you a recap of what he did and how he performed compared to the top group of elite quarterback commits.

Also, Penn State’s top target did make the finals. Spring-Ford quarterback Matt Zollers was one of two passers, including one-time target Ryan Montgomery, who secured the final two spots in the competition after the camp. We’ll discuss what separated them from Kritza and how the upside of Penn State’s committed player compares to the more polished prospects at the camp.

    Redshirt freshman report

Finally, we’ll end the show discussing the notable Penn State redshirt freshmen heading into the 2024 season. While the top young players who contribute and burn their redshirts get all the attention, what about the other players heading into their second year with the organization?

We’ll discuss the progress of players like Anthony Donkoh, Andrew Rappleyea, and more!

    Penn State Board meeting preview

Today, Penn State will formally decide whether or not to move forward with the proposed plans for renovating the team's football stadium. Will this be a formality? Or is there more nuance and intrigue to the proceedings? Bauer joins the show to discuss what he knows and tells fans what to expect from the meeting on Tuesday morning.

Because of the timing of today's events, we're switching things up on the show and heading next to the BWI Mailbag. Bauer and fellow Penn State insider Sean Fitz will discuss the topics that you bring to today's show! Today's featured questions from the message board include a discussion on NIL transparency, the advantage that helmet communication gives the Penn State offense, trap games for the upcoming season and more!

We'll also take questions from the live chat, so if you have something on your mind, drop your thoughts in the show thread, and we'll answer the best ones on air! The best way to make sure you never miss the show is to subscribe to our YouTube channel and enable notifications.

    Fitz's recruiting update

Finally, we'll review the latest news on Penn State recruiting, including Fitz's recruiting update. What went down this weekend at the Elite 11 regional in State College? How about at the Baltimore Under Armour Camp? BWI was at both events, and Fitz will preview what he knows about each camp.

Today, we'll focus on the Elite 11 and Penn State's quarterback commits and targets at the event, including Bekkem Kritza, Dia Bell, Malik Washington, and Matt Zollers.
