Wilderness Mentality #10 Oct 14, 2024

Show notes

Welcome back to the Blessed and Bossed Up podcast presented by Anchored Media! In today’s episode, we are wrapping up Joyce Meyer’s Battlefield of the Mind, diving into the final chapter: Wilderness Mentality #10: "I'm going to do it my way or not at all." Join Tatum as she reflects on the lessons learned throughout this book and the importance of obedience to God’s Word, especially when it goes against our natural tendencies or desires.

Key Points:

Obedience Over Sacrifice: Drawing from 1 Samuel 15:22-23, Tatum emphasizes that obedience to God is more important than any sacrifice we can make. God is looking for us to follow His will, not just do things that look good or feel right in our own eyes.
End of the Wilderness Mentality: This final mentality is all about surrendering our will to God’s. Tatum shares personal reflections on how this mentality has shown up in her own life, especially when things seem to be going well. It’s easy to drift away from obedience when we aren’t in desperate situations.
Self-Reflection: Tatum challenges listeners to ask themselves, “Has my prayer life and obedience to God remained consistent, or have I become lax because my circumstances have improved?”
Personal Story: Tatum opens up about how she’s had to confront her own strong-willed personality in her walk with God and how being obedient to His commands, even in small matters, has transformed her faith journey.
Legacy of Obedience: Tatum encourages parents and leaders to consider the long-term impact of their obedience or disobedience on those they influence. Using examples from her own life and Joyce Meyer’s, she illustrates how our actions can influence future generations.

Scriptures Referenced:

Psalm 78:7-8 – Highlighting the stubbornness of the Israelites and the consequences of disobedience.
1 Samuel 15:22-23 – Saul’s disobedience and the importance of obedience over sacrifice.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 – The conclusion of King Solomon’s wisdom, emphasizing obedience as the ultimate duty of man.

Takeaways:

Obedience is a Daily Choice: It’s not just about the big decisions, but the small, everyday instructions that God gives us. How are you following through on the daily habits He’s asked you to implement?
A Life Rooted in Obedience: True reverence for God comes from a life that is rooted in obedience. This is our ultimate duty as believers.
Influence of Obedience: Your obedience impacts more than just your life—it affects your children, your family, and others in your sphere of influence.

Welcome to another episode of the Blessed and Bossed Up podcast, presented by Anchored Media! This week, we dive into a topic that is essential for every entrepreneur, especially faith-based business owners: endurance. In this episode, Tatum reflects on the importance of persevering through challenges and not allowing analytics, numbers, or external measures of success to mislead you during seasons of change. The Lord is shifting the landscape, promoting some and demoting others, but the key is to stay the course.

Key Points:

Endurance is Essential: God is doing a restructuring in the body of Christ and in the media space. Now is not the time to rely on numbers, analytics, or visible success measures. What matters most is staying faithful to the assignments He has given you.
Biblical Foundation: Drawing from the story of Noah in Genesis 6, Tatum illustrates how Noah’s unwavering faith and obedience, even when it seemed ridiculous to others, brought about God's promises. Just like Noah, we must be willing to endure despite the ridicule or delayed gratification.
Endurance Builds Character: Tatum shares her personal story of how she and her aunt opened Anchored Media Studios. While the process seemed smooth at first, it led to a season of intense suffering, stress, and challenges. But through it all, God’s plan unfolded, and endurance produced financial freedom, fulfillment, and a deepened faith.
Practical Tips for Endurance:

Have faith in the unseen – Just like Noah, trust in God's instructions even when there are no visible signs of change.
Persevere through challenges – Learn from Job, who was blessed for his unwavering faith in times of suffering.
Endure through delayed gratification – Abraham's long wait for God's promise to be fulfilled is a reminder to stay patient.
Trust God's timing – Like Joseph, who endured years of hardship before rising to power, trust that God’s timing is perfect.
Your endurance encourages others – Jesus' endurance on the cross led to salvation for the world. Your perseverance will inspire and uplift others.

Scriptures Referenced:

Genesis 6:5, Genesis 6:11, Genesis 6:9-22
Romans 4:20-21
James 5:11
Philippians 4:8

Practical Takeaways:

Reflect on areas in your business where you're feeling discouraged or weary. How can you invite God into that space and trust Him with the outcome?
When tempted to give up, focus on the bigger picture of God’s purpose for your business.
Surrender your struggles, stress, and doubts to the Lord, trusting that He will provide the strength to endure.

Final Thoughts:

Stay encouraged, stay focused, and stay under the load. God sees your faithfulness and will reward your endurance. Keep pressing forward, and trust that He is working behind the scenes, even when you can’t see it.

How to Deal with Comparison Oct 07, 2024

Show notes

This chapter addresses the "wilderness mentality" related to jealousy and envy, particularly for entrepreneurs who are walking with God in their business journeys. Tatum shares her personal story of experiencing jealousy during her wilderness season and offers practical advice for overcoming it.

Embrace honesty in your relationship with God. He can handle your real feelings, and surrendering these emotions allows Him to transform your perspective.

Tatum reflects on the long journey of this book study, emphasizing the importance of critically evaluating the content we consume and always checking its alignment with the Word of God.

Tatum shares her candid thoughts on how shame often keeps believers from experiencing the fullness of God's blessings and freedom. Drawing from personal reflections and biblical examples, she takes a deep dive into the emotional and spiritual weight of shame, offering a powerful perspective on how to break free from its grip.

Key Topics Discussed:

Wilderness Mentality #8: "I don't deserve God's blessings because I am not worthy." Tatum explains how this mentality keeps us from receiving God's promises and reflects on Joshua 5:9 and the rolling away of shame from the people of Israel.
The Influence of Shame on Behavior: Learn about how shame manifests in different behaviors—avoidance, people-pleasing, defensiveness, negative self-talk, fear of intimacy, and even addiction—and how these patterns can hinder our spiritual growth.
Biblical Stories of Overcoming Shame: Tatum highlights powerful stories of people in the Bible who overcame shame after encountering Jesus:
The Samaritan Woman at the Well (John 4)
The Woman Caught in Adultery (John 8)

Mary Magdalene's Transformation (Luke 8)
Zacchaeus’ Repentance (Luke 19)

Wildness Mentality #6 Sep 14, 2024

Show notes

In this episode of Blessed and Bossed Up, Tatum dives deep into the sixth wilderness mentality from Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer: “My behavior may be wrong, but it is not my fault.” This discussion touches on personal responsibility, confronting uncomfortable truths, and avoiding blame-shifting. Tatum shares practical insights on how this mentality impacts relationships, spiritual growth, and even entrepreneurship. She encourages listeners to ask God for self-revelation, even when it’s difficult.

Key Points Covered:

Wilderness Mentality #6: The core topic of this episode is the mindset of blaming others for personal behavior. Tatum and Joyce Meyer’s teachings point to examples from Genesis, like Adam and Eve, and how blaming others can keep you stuck in a wilderness season.
Marriage and Personal Responsibility: Tatum shares a personal story about how seeking the Lord’s help in marriage often leads to self-reflection and accountability, rather than always focusing on your partner’s faults.
Avoiding Excuses: Drawing from Joyce Meyer's experience, Tatum emphasizes that while past hurts may explain bad behavior, they cannot justify staying in it. True freedom comes from confronting personal shortcomings and taking responsibility for one’s actions.
Facing the Truth: The importance of facing hard truths about ourselves and confronting areas of avoidance is discussed. Tatum encourages listeners to stop making excuses, face uncomfortable realities, and lean into God's guidance for personal transformation.

Scriptures Mentioned:

Genesis 3:12-13 – Adam and Eve’s blame game in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 16:1-6 – Abram, Sarai, and Hagar: Impatience and blame-shifting.

Psalm 51:1-6 – King David’s repentance after his sin with Bathsheba.
John 16:12-13 – The Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth.

Be Accountable: Take ownership of personal behavior without excuses, and practice repentance when necessary.
Marriage Advice: If you're married, take your concerns about your spouse to God first before addressing them with your partner.

John the Baptist as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Sep 09, 2024

Show notes

In this episode of Blessed and Bossed Up, Tatum dives deep into the life and ministry of John the Baptist, a prophetic figure whose role in preparing the way for Jesus offers vital lessons in repentance, righteousness, and fulfilling God's call. Tatum also connects John’s mission to the journey of faith-based entrepreneurs, especially those called to be subject matter experts in their fields.

John the Baptist’s ministry in the wilderness was marked by boldness and a deep sense of purpose. His message of repentance drew large crowds, and he baptized Jesus, witnessing the Holy Spirit descending upon Him. Yet, even John faced moments of doubt, reminding us that we all need reassurance as we walk in our calling. Tatum highlights how John's life underscores the importance of staying mission-focused and aligning our work with God’s plan, much like entrepreneurs who serve as subject matter experts in their industries.

Key Points:

John’s Role in Prophecy and Ministry: John the Baptist fulfilled Old Testament prophecies as the voice crying out in the wilderness, preparing the way for Jesus. His life of boldness and righteousness is a powerful example for believers today.
Baptism of Jesus: John’s baptism of Jesus marked a significant moment in biblical history, as the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus and His public ministry began.
Doubts and Reassurance: John, despite his vital role, faced doubts about Jesus’ identity while in prison. Jesus affirmed John’s mission, emphasizing that even those with a great calling need moments of reassurance.
Entrepreneurs as Subject Matter Experts: Tatum draws parallels between John’s focused ministry and the work of entrepreneurs who are called to be subject matter experts. Just as John’s ministry was distinct and focused on preparing the way, faith-based entrepreneurs are called to stay mission-driven, offering expertise that serves a higher purpose. Tatum encourages entrepreneurs to focus on their God-given skills, using them to serve others while allowing God to multiply their efforts.

Subject Matter Expert Entrepreneurs:

Mission-Driven Focus: Entrepreneurs should view themselves as modern-day “preparers” for their audience, providing valuable expertise while staying aligned with their faith.
Multiplication through God: Like John’s faithfulness to his mission, entrepreneurs can trust that as they focus on their unique expertise and service, God will bring the increase and multiply their efforts.
Facing Doubts in Entrepreneurship: Even those who are experts in their field can experience doubt and uncertainty. Tatum discusses how to handle these moments by seeking reassurance from God and staying rooted in your purpose.

Scriptures Referenced:

Isaiah 40:3 – "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.'"
Matthew 3:11 – John’s statement about baptizing with water and the coming of someone more powerful (Jesus) who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.
John 1:29-34 – John’s testimony of Jesus as the Lamb of God.
Luke 7:20-23 – John’s disciples ask Jesus if He is the Messiah, and Jesus reassures them through His works.
