A blessing and curse in life is that we never really arrive.

We're always in the process of life, but we often miss what's happening in the process because we think we should be somewhere else.

We think we should have more time, more money, different circumstances.

We think we should be doing more, especially compared to the next person.

But the truth is, you're exactly where you should be…in the process.

The process can be beautiful, and it can be messy.

But being present for it takes a tremendous amount of pressure off you for not being somewhere else.

How many times in life have you felt unworthy, worthless, unloved, or broken because of another person's words or actions? Wouldn't it be nice not to feel that ever again?

    It is possible.

It's possible because you can learn that your worth is inherent and has nothing to do with anyone else's thoughts or actions.

Listen to this week's episode and become more aware of what you tell yourself other people are thinking and what you decide that means.

#179 With Love From Other Survivors Feb 25, 2022
    Show notes

What would you think if I asked you to tell me something every day for a month that you loved about yourself?

Well, I asked my members to do just that. In this week's podcast, I want to share some of the things they had to say about learning to love themselves unconditionally.

I have to say that people were a little nervous at first, and some had to process blocks even to say loving things about themselves.

But, when you hear what they have to say, I know you feel inspired by what they've discovered.

As you hear the prompts they were asked to respond to, I hope you also explore those questions for yourself so you can drop more judgments and love yourself unconditionally.

#178 You Get to Grieve so You Can Grow Feb 18, 2022
    Show notes

When I look back over the past 10 years I'm amazed at how much my perspective of cancer has changed.

I thought I had it beat because I was always down for the fight.

But the most important thing I've learned is that the best way to get back to life is to let shit go.

It took many years for me to figure out that grieving was a necessary part of healing.

Even when I did figure out it took working through my own process and supporting many other women in doing the same before I really saw the power of allowing yourself to grieve.

We humans aren't that different from each other.

Our brains process trauma in similar ways and the steps of processing grief are well established.

The problem after breast cancer is we're conditioned to fight how we feel rather than process it and allow ourselves to grieve.

In this episode we'll talk about the importance of that process and how allowing yourself to grieve can give you the ability to grow.

    #177 It's Not Just Hair Feb 11, 2022
    Show notes

If you lost your hair during chemo and had to endure the weird regrowth stages, watched it grow back looking like someone else's hair, or watched it thin due to menopause and hormone treatments then you know…it's not just hair.

But you may have heard that comment from others along the way.

Hair and our identity are closely entwined.

We change our hair to fit our stage of life, reflect our personality, and fit into religious or cultural norms.

We judge people based on what their hair looks like

    We envy thick, lush hair.

It signifies youth, fertility, sexuality and so much more.

A bad hair day can affect your self-confidence and not allowing yourself to experience the emotions that your thoughts around hair loss bring up can create more pain than the loss itself.

In this show, I'll dig into hair, what it means to us, how we can think about it in healthier ways, and what solutions are available to support your healthy locks while you love yourself along the way.

#176 Creating Space For a Better Way Feb 04, 2022
    Show notes

When your closet is full, it's a challenge to find anything and overwhelming to think about clearing it out.

When your mind is full with an idea or belief it's hard to see any other way to be or any other path that can be taken.

That's a painful place to be and a place we often put ourselves in when we believe there's only one way for an experience to go.

It's where we get stuck when we believe life isn't happening in the right way or the fairway.

And it's why you need to stop yourself sometimes and create enough space to stop creating more suffering than you need to endure.

#175 How to Love Your Body Unconditionally Jan 28, 2022
    Show notes

When you think about the relationships in your life, what are the conditions you put on them?

Do people have to earn your love or do specific things to deserve your love?

For most of us, the answer is yes.

But have you thought about how that applies to yourself and your body?

What are the conditions your body has to meet to deserve your love?

If it doesn't meet those conditions, what do you do, and how does that impact your life?

Most of us decide to complain about our body, ignore it, act as if we have no control over it, or turn to abusing it.

In this show, I'll talk to you about why that happens and how you can shift your mindset and learn to choose unconditional love for your body.

Imagine how amazing that would feel.

If you didn't know that choice was available to you, learn everything you need to know about it now.

#174 When You Don't Know How to Love Yourself Jan 21, 2022
    Show notes

This week I had an eye-opening experience when I came across a journaling exercise that I did in 2013, the year after I finished treatment for my first breast cancer diagnosis.

It was eye-opening to see the destructive and abusive way I thought of and spoke about myself at that time.

I had a mindset then that was so full of pain and judgment that it's hard to believe I ever found my way here.

Sadly, I know that many survivors have that same mindset now, which is why I decided to share what I wrote about myself all those years ago.

I hope that what my thoughts were then will help you see that there is hope for a brighter future wherever you are now.

You are worth love, you are deserving of happiness and joy, and you can take small steps to get there until you look back one day and, like me, you're living a life that truly is better than before breast cancer.

    #173 I Don't Want to Think This Way Anymore Jan 15, 2022
    Show notes

Sometimes our biggest barrier to change is the belief that we shouldn't have negative thoughts.

After working so hard to stay positive, think healthier thoughts, and adopt a good mindset, negative thoughts should go away, right?

    Not so fast…

Your brain is wired to avoid pain and keep you safe.

So, it is always going to offer thoughts to steer you away from expending too much energy, creating change…even if it's positive, or letting go of what has caused pain in the past.

Because if you let go you might do it again.

At least from your brain's perspective.

Let me save you a lot of energy and struggle with this one simple tip:

Let your brain think all the negative thoughts it wants to.

    Yep, stop fighting it.

Confused? Check out this episode and let me clear it up for you.
