    Show notes

Peppermint steps Behind The Rope. Miss Peppermint. A fixture on the New York City Drag / Queer Nightlife Scene, Peppermint’s star continued to rise when she was cast on Season Nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race where she finished as runner-up in one of the most talked about seasons in Drag Race HERstory. Peppermint takes us behind the scenes of Drag Race - what the casting and filming process was like, just how “hard” it was to make a great TV show, the other queens and what RuPaul is really like. Peppermint takes us on her journey of how her professional life sky rocketed after Drag Race. Part of that included a starring role on Broadway as Pythio in the epic Head Over Heels, a brilliant musical set to Go Go’s Music. Speaking of music, Peppermint just released her new album “A Girl Like Me: Letters To My Lovers”, the first in a Trilogy of new music, which includes the hit song “Best Sex”. Let us not forget Peppermint’s stellar acting resume as well which includes parts in hit TV shows such as Ryan Murphy’s Pose. Finally, Peppermint discusses what it is like to have been the first out trans contestant to be cast on RuPaul’s Drag Race, what it was like to have been the first out trans woman to originate a principal musical role on Broadway, the current state of the trans community and how she believes 2020 may forever go down as the “year of change”.

Peggy Tanous - The Real Housewives of Orange County Oct 27, 2020
    Show notes

The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Peggy Tanous steps Behind The Rope. The original Peggy from the OC. Speaking of Peggys, Peggy Tanous know the other Peggy, Bravo’s 100th Housewife Peggy Sulahian. Is the OC really that small a place? We discuss Peggy’s friends and past Orange Holders Gretchen Rossi, Heather Dubrow, Lydia McLaughlin, Lynn Curtin, Lauri Peterson and Lizzie Rovsek. What a trip down memory lane and yes Peggy knows them all. How fun. Peggy also recounts her friendship with Alexis (“Jesus Jugs”) Bellino before they were on RHOC together, how Alexis and Jim Bellino were involved in her being cast, the issues she had filming with her during their season, how the show changed their friendship and the status of their relationship today. We reminisce on how RHOC has changed throughout the years and how it is no where near the show it was way back in the day. Is that a good or bad thing? Peggy opens up about the best and worst part of being a Real Housewife of Orange County and whether she would go back again. Finally we the discuss the evolution of Vicki (Don, Brooks, Steve) and Tamra (Simon, Eddie), the aftermath of their absence and how the franchise will fair without these two staples going forward.

This Is Paris (Director Alexandra Dean talks all things Paris) - Part II Oct 26, 2020
    Show notes

"This is Paris” Director Alexandra Dean steps back Behind The Rope. We continue our conversation right where we left off (Part I of our sit down aired October 13th, 2020) discussing all things Paris. Alexandra lets us know the challenges of making a behind the scenes film while following Paris around the world to mass chaos and mayhem from Paris’ “Little Hiltons”. We discuss whether the psychological abuse and trauma that Paris endured from the Provo Canyon School was originally intended to be a part of the film. Alexandra explains how she got Paris to open up regarding this abuse, an issue which she has never publicly discussed prior to “This is Paris”. Alexandra discusses the involvement of both Kathy and Nicky Hilton Rothschild in the film and the noted absence of Rick Hilton. We also discuss the cameos from Kim Kardashian and Kyle Richards and why both of those women were necessary for this film. Alexandra fills us in on “secret” lost footage scenes that never made the film. On a more serious note, we discuss how this film was probably the best therapy Paris could have received for her childhood trauma and how Alexandra noticed a completely changed Paris by the end of their time working together. Finally, Paris and Alexandra are dedicated to the “Breaking Code Silence” cause which they are both actively involved in today. Tune in as our chat with “This is Paris” director Alexandra Dean concludes.

    Show notes

Rachel Bradshaw, from the new E show "The Bradshaw Brunch", steps Behind The Rope. Let’s start at the beginning. Rachel talks about what it was like to grow up with an NFL Legend as a father and how boys would react when they found out Terry Bradshaw was her Dad. She also explains the first time she realized her Dad was a public figure and how, although there were many perks that came along with that, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. Being a huge Reality TV fan, Rachel and David dissect some of their favorites - Laguna Beach, The Hills, The Simple Life and last, but certainly not least, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Speaking of Reality TV, Rachel discusses where the idea for The Bradshaw Bunch came from, the road to the E Network, what filming was like, and what it is like to now watch herself and her family on TV each week. She also discusses how her Dad reacts when viewers actually now want her picture as well as his. We also deep dive into Rachel’s booming music career and her newly released single, “Wild Horse”. Jason Wahler (The Hills / Laguna Beach) - An Interview Oct 22, 2020
    Show notes

Jason Wahler Steps Behind the Rope. Yes, that Jason Wahler from the hit TV shows Laguna Beach, The Hills and The Hills: New Beginnings. Mic Drop. Need we say anything more? Ok, Jason stopped by to discuss the amazing advocacy work he uses his platform for in order to help those who are struggling with substance abuse, addiction, and feelings of inadequacy. Jason’s work serves as a resource to help those who don't know where to begin, or turn, to get the help they need in order to realize recovery is possible and life is absolutely worth living. Of course, we also discuss those three aforementioned hot MTV “reality” shows. Jason takes us back to the beginning when he was just a high school student whose friends - Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, and Lo Bosworth - were cast on a TV show about their high school, otherwise known as Laguna Beach High. We discuss how Jason got involved in the show, how that show, Laguna Beach, spun off into The Hills and how, overnight, he could no longer go to the gas station or mall or mailbox without being recognized. With fame, the issues he was already struggling with became exacerabted, and he quickly spiralled out of control. There were public arrests and intoxication which eventually lead to rock bottom. Jason shares what that was like and how he eventually sought the help he needed through Dr Drew and other available resources to eventually make this his “life’s work”. Jason answers all of our questions, once and for all, about what specific scenes, events and happenings in The Hills were real and which were not real. We also discuss his involvement in LC forever being known as the girl who didn't go to Paris. Of course, we needed to know all about The Hills: New Beginnings - his wife Ashley's involvement, Speidi, Brody Jenner and of course last, but certainly not least, Queen Mischa Barton. Finally, Jason shares the status of filming for Season Two (RIP Mischa) and when we can expect this classic reality king to appear back on our beloved TV sets. An episode not to be missed.

Kathryn Edwards (on Denise / Teddi Exits & this past season of RHOBH) - Part II Oct 19, 2020
    Show notes

Kathryn Edwards continues our chat regarding this past season of RHOBH and the Denise / Teddi exits. (Part I aired October 1st, 2020). Kathryn wastes no time in bringing up the fallout of a true many decade long friendship between Lisa Rinna and Denise Richards. We discuss what happens when making a great TV show is more important to a Housewife than a real life friendship and is it worth it? This leads to a discussion of which of the RHOBH cast are real life friends versus working colleagues. Speaking of Denise, we bring up her “hook up” with Brandi Glanville and discuss whether Kathryn thinks that really happened, why Brandi - considering her past track record of being a “tell all", the involvement of Producers to tell that “story”, the aftermath of what we saw unfold all season on RHOBH, and whether Brandi deserves a diamond. We dive into deeper issues such as the continued pressure by Producers to always bring the drama and storyline in fear of losing your job and corresponding big paycheck. Kathryn also discusses how nothing is off limits if you sign up for a reality show and how all the skeletons will ultimately come out of the closet. Kathryn discusses several actresses who she personally knows as potential diamond holders for next season - Nicolette Sheridan, Vivica A. Fox, Heather Locklear, Jennie Garth LaToya Jackson - as well as the rumored favored Kathy Hilton, and predicts the likelihood of each of those happening and how successful each would be in the “role”. Kathryn also discusses how she feels Garcelle will fare in her sophomore season sans Denise and discusses Denise's decision to walk away after just two seasons. Finally, we get into the Reunion, the good, the bad, the other bad and discuss how each of the women handled themselves during it. Tune in as our sit down with Kathryn Edwards concludes.

Diana Espir (on Real Life Experiences with Vanderpump Rules and RHOBH Casts) Oct 16, 2020
    Show notes

Diana Espir steps Behind The Rope. Diana is host of the wildly popular Espirational (formerly You Can't Sit With Me) Podcast. In true BTVR fashion, Diana is here to share her real life experiences with some of our favorite Bravolebrities. Living in Los Angeles, Diana has had runs in with the likes of Kyle Richards at Soul Cycle and has interviewed Teddy Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave on the red carpet. A self admitted huge Kyle fan, Diana gives us all the reasons she doesn’t like her doppelgänger, according to David, Dorit Kemsley. We can agree to disagree. Discuss amongst yourselves. Diana met Summer House's Kyle Cooke at Scheana Shay's birthday party and is convinced he doesn’t like her very much just because she called him an “F” boy. Aww, that ain't so bad. There was also that time Scheana Shay thanked her profusely for helping her get to the bottom on what was going on with her ex boy toy Adam Spott. Then there is her ongoing budding FaceTime friendship with Lindsay Hubbard. Diana sure does get around. Friends with Dayna Katham way before she was cast on this past season’s Vanderpump Rules, Diana shares what Dayna is like IRL. She also shares what it is like to hang out with VPR OG’s such as Tom Sandoval, James Kennedy, Jax Taylor and so on. Diana also shares her thoughts on Danica Dow’s on again off again public relationship with bartender Brett Willis. Finally, Diana discuss her thoughts on this past season of VPR and what she thinks needs to happen to improve the show going forward.

    Show notes

On the heels of the The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Season Premiere, Lydia McLaughlin and her Mom, Judy Stirling, step Behind The Rope. Lydia and Judy are here to talk about their new Bravo Web Show, Glitter Town. Lydia and Judy explain that Glitter Town is a new digital series of them spreading “positive vibes” while making normal everyday tasks fun, happy and, well, glittery. They even went to New York City to pitch the show in person at 30 Rock, Glitter Bombs and all. Of course, we couldn’t help but chat with Lydia about all her cast mates past: Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, Kelly Dodd, Heather Dubrow, Alexis “Jesus Jugs” Bellino, Gretchen Rossi, Peggy Sulahian and Lizzie Rovsek. We discuss what it was like to film the show with these women - the good, the bad, the highs, the challenges, her role as the “friendship whisperer” during her RHOC Seasons Eight and Twelve, and what the status of her relationships with each of them is like today. We also talk about the current RHOC and hear Lydia’s thoughts on Braunwyn, Gina, Emily, and newbie Elizabeth Vargas. We chat about why a Web Series was the right platform for this show, check in on Lydia’s family - Doug and the boys, and hear all the details from the Glitter Town Premiere Party such as which RHOC were in attendance. If you are wondering if Lydia and Judy are really really that happy and upbeat and positive alllll the time, well, listen in here!
