    Box Office Overview:

    • Barbie, still in first place, brought in $53M domestically, bringing the domestic total to $460M, and has passed the $1B mark after 17 days of release.
    • Meg 2: The Trench made just over $30M domestically with its opening weekend, with $112M internationally from 76 markets for a worldwide total of $142M.
    • Oppenheimer grossed an additional $29.1M domestically, bringing its domestic total not to $229M.
    • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem made $28M domestically over the the 3-day weekend, though its total since opening on Tuesday sits at $43M domestically, and 8.5M internationally from 24 markets, for a worldwide total of $51.5M.

    New releases Haunted Mansion and Talk To Me hit the big screen this weekend, while Barbie and Oppenheimer continued with fantastic holds. We pause to look back at July’s month in review, and to see how 2023’s year-to-date compares with past years’ box office.     Box Office Overview:

    • Barbie in its second week added $93M domestically for a domestic total of $351.4M. Internationally it grossed a further $122.2M, a decline of only 32.2% for a total internationally of $423.1M, and $775M worldwide.
    • Oppenheimer domestically added $46.2M for a domestic total of $174.1M, and $72.4M internationally for $226.3M as the international total.
    • Haunted Mansion made $24.2M domestically and $9.1M internationally for a worldwide total of $33.3M — though notably is not yet out in major territories including the UK, Australia, and Japan.
    • Sound of Freedom continued to made money domestically with another $12.8M, leading to $149.4M in domestic total now.
    • Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One added $10.6M domestically bringing its domestic total to $139.1M. Internationally it has reached $308M, for a worldwide total of $447.2M.

    • Barbie opened to $162M domestically, the highest domestic opening of all time for a female-directed film, and grossed an additional $194M internationally for a worldwide total of $356.3M.
    • Oppenheimer opened to $82.4M domestically and $98M internationally for a worldwide total of $180M.
    • This weekend made for the biggest total domestic opening weekend of 2023, and the 4th-highest domestic opening weekend of all time, only behind Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Avengers: Endgame.
    • Sound of Freedom made an additional $19.8M this past weekend.
    • Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One grossed $19.5M domestically, bringing its worldwide total to $370M.
    • Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny came in at number 5 with $7M domestically, bringing its worldwide total to $355M.

    Tom Cruise sprinted onto the big screen again this past weekend with Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, which had the biggest global opening of the Mission: Impossible franchise to date.     • Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One opened to a 5-day weekend total of $80M domestically and $155M internationally, for a worldwide total of $235M — the biggest global opening for the Mission: Impossible franchise.
    • Sound of Freedom earned $27M, up 37% from the previous weekend’s box office for a domestic cumulative total of $85M.
    • Insidious: The Red Door took an additional $13M domestically, a drop of 66%, for a domestic total of $58M and world-wide total of $122M.
    • Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny passed the $300M mark globally this weekend.
    • Elemental, in its fifth week of release only dropped 13% to $8.7M, bringing its worldwide cumulative total to $312M.

    • Insidious: The Red Door opened at number 1 in the domestic box office with $33M for the opening weekend. Internationally it brought a further $31.4M, for a global total of $64.4M.
    • Sound of Freedom released on July 4th to $14M, and had a weekend result of $19.7M for a current total of $40M.
    • Joy Ride grossed $5.8M from 2,800 screens.
    • Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny opened last weekend to $60.4M domestically. It grossed an additional $27.4M domestically and $32M from 52 international markets this past weekend, for a worldwide cumulative total now of $248M.
    • Elemental in its 4th week grossed $10M domestically, and another $30M internationally from 48 markets. Its worldwide total now sits at $252M.
    • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse took 5th position with another $8M domestically. It now sits at a global total of $642M.

    • No Hard Feelings made $15M domestically from 3208 screens, and $9.5M internationally for a total of $24.6M.
    • Asteroid City in its wide release made a further $9M domestically and $6.5M internationally, for a global total of $16.7M.
    • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse reached no. 1 in the domestic market again, adding $19M. It now sits $183M ahead of the previous title’s lifetime gross, and has crossed the half-billion dollar mark at $560M globally.
    • Elemental made a further $18.4M domestically for a total of $65.5M.
    • The Flash dropped 72.5% from its opening weekend, adding $15.1M for a domestic total of $87.5M, international total of #123.3M, and global total of $210.8M.
    • Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in its 5th week added $11.8M, bringing the domestic total to $123.1M, with $218M internationally making a global total of $341.4M.
    • Lost in the Stars, a Chinese title, added $70.4M over the 3-day weekend solely from China. Its total now is $97.6M.

    • Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 $7M domestically, bringing it to $335.4M so far. Internationally, it made $6.7M for a total of $470.5M.
