16 - Hate Saying No? How to Cure Your Vitamin N Deficiency Dec 15, 2020
    Show notes

After a previous episode about clear communication, it has popped up in so many amazing and inspiring conversations that many of us feel uncomfortable saying no. But I am here to tell you that we have to get better. As women, it is so common for us to say yes when we really want to say no and I have been down that road many times.

Throughout my journey, I have become much better about saying no and being honest. I have always been a direct person, but I have also been a people-pleaser and it has put me in some situations that do not reflect my wants and needs. We all have an inner voice and an inner compass, but are we listening to it?

In today's episode, I am laying out some real examples that you can probably relate to. And as always, I have some actionable steps to take to start using your vulnerability to practice saying no. While uncomfortable at first, this muscle needs strengthening and once you've strengthened it, you can finally be you.

15 - Bad Mutha: Owning and Disowning Mom Guilt Dec 10, 2020
    Show notes

I have always known I would be sharing an episode about mom guilt. Mom guilt is something every mom feels. Some feel it more strongly than others, but we all have these sometimes overwhelming feelings of guilt as parents. Why? Well, it may come as a surprise to you, but we are doing this to ourselves.

Mom guilt is one of the biggest struggles and fears we have as women. This episode is for the average woman who is beating herself up over specific memories and the constant feeling that she isn't doing something right. Let me begin by saying that YOU are a great parent. And let me also say, that as the queen of guilt, I am no stranger to these feelings. You are not alone.

Today, I am laying it all out. How I have felt guilt over specific and haunting memories. How I have chosen to compare myself and my parenting to others. And how I have felt that I wasn't doing it right. I'm sure you can relate. I also offer three actionable steps to take on your healing journey to begin accepting yourself and know that you are a great mom. I promise you are. But this step is so important. Because taking care of you, forgiving you, loving you, accepting you, flaws and all - that's exceptional parenting.

14 - How to Be Clear When You Hate Confrontation Dec 08, 2020
    Show notes

"I hate confrontation" is something I hear so often. But what I notice is the blurred lines between confrontation and clear communication. They aren't the same thing but oftentimes we feel anxious about them both. What can we do to make these seemingly confrontational conversations easier? I think the key will surprise you. In today's episode, we are ditching the line "I hate confrontation," and we are using something else in its place because the real you wants and needs to be clear.

12 - Three Uncomfy Truths About Why We Judge and How to Stop Being a Judgey Mcjudgerson Dec 01, 2020
    Show notes

If Judgey McJudgerson and Judge Judy had a baby, that would have been me. The old me was constantly criticizing others but on this journey, I have found that my judgment was actually a reflection of myself. I still have a long way to go, but I don't find myself judging others nearly as often as before. But when I do, I can catch myself and figure out why I am being judgmental.

This is something we all deal with. For some, this is a huge problem and for others it is something we're already working on. No matter where you are in your journey, today's episode serves as a reminder and a guide to turn your judgments back on yourself. It definitely gets uncomfortable because for many of us, this means we have to face parts of ourselves we don't like. But you are a work in progress on your journey to being you.

    11 - Sadness vs. Suffering Nov 27, 2020
    Show notes

Sadness and suffering are often used synonymously. They're the same thing, right? No, they're not. I am approaching this darker topic today because a recent Instagram poll hit a nerve. We all feel pain and sadness. And yes, we all suffer. But we choose to suffer. Sounds harsh, I know. I've been there often. So often in fact, that suffering became my identity. I share this odd phenomenon with you in today's episode. The strange comfort we find in suffering.

With the uncertain times we are experiencing right now and with the holidays coming up, this topic is so important. We all need to be aware of the distinction between sadness and suffering. You and I get to decide everyday whether or not we will feel and experience pain or if we will sign up to suffer. As we navigate this together today, know that you are not alone and through this journey, you can let go to finally be you.

10 - Kate Bowser: Ditch the Food Rules Nov 24, 2020
    Show notes

Here at the Be You Podcast, we don't shy away from the hot button topics. We've discussed many things that have so much to unpack - money, sex, trauma to name a few. But we haven't talked about a big one yet. Food.

Our relationship with food can be healthy or toxic. What are we eating? Why are we eating it? There's shame, blame, hiding, conforming, rebellion, and so many side effects to our eating that we don't even realize. We're diving deep into self-work here and food is a huge part of it. That's why I am thrilled to have Kate Bowser as a guest on today's episode.

Kate is an Integrated Nutrition Health Coach with a bachelor's degree in Biology. She helps women live their most balanced life and whole-heartedly believes that health shouldn't be an all-or-nothing affair. In today's episode, she teaches us how to listen to our bodies and gives us guidelines instead of rules and labels. Because, truthfully, "who doesn't want an Oreo?" Listen on for your first step into listening to your body to make the best choices for your unique you.

8 - The Three Ingredients for Success Nov 17, 2020
    Show notes

Don't you wish you could just snap your fingers and be successful? Don't you wish you could just magically make everyone win? Success is great, but it's not always easy. We talk about success a lot and truthfully, it is very diluted and misunderstood.

Over the years, I have wondered why some people are successful and others aren't. Through experience, I have found that investing my time and energy into the people who show three key ingredients or attributes results in success not only for them but for myself and the business I was running.

There's a lot of self-reflection involved in this and in this episode, I break down the questions you need to ask yourself. We'll talk about the three ingredients for success and how you need all three to reach your goal. I also want you to know about the five levels of commitment and how you will see them in all of your goals in life, not just in your career.

Remember, your biggest obstacle is yourself and when you look at these success ingredients, it's a choice. You can decide if you have them or if you don't. Are you up to the challenge?
