Otaro Alaka Apr 17, 2020

Show notes

On the one year anniversary of the Baltimore Beatdown Podcast, Jake and Spencer are happy to jump into the studio and chop up some football with you guys as normal, no matter what the outside world currently looks like. They open today's show with some discussion on the news that tight end O.J. Howard is on the trading block, and then go on to have some discussion about linebackers that'll feature heavily in next week's draft. Speaking of linebackers, the guys had a chance to interview (20:55) one today. Specifically, Otaro Alaka, Ravens inside linebacker who will be entering his second season in 2020. The guys jump into a ton of stuff with Otaro, including his upbringing in Texas, his lengthy career at Texas A&M, his jump to the NFL, and what he's currently got going on in quarantine (plus much more, of course). We hope you guys enjoy!

Matt Waldman Apr 14, 2020

Show notes

Quarantine continues, and the boys continue to crank out tremendous content for you all. On today's Tuesday show, Jake and Spencer open things up by discussing a very fun Twitter mock draft that they participated in over the weekend. That's of course just an appetizer for the main course which is an interview (30:40) with one of the great friends of the show, Matt Waldman (@MattWaldman). Matt is a film guru, and one of the absolute best in the business at breaking players down - you can find his work at the Rookie Scouting Portfolio and FootballGuys. He hopped on with Jake and Spencer for about an hour of draft talk, including his thoughts on how the top of it will shake out, what he thinks the Ravens will do, and a ton of general thoughts on players all across the board. We really hope you guys enjoy this one and are staying safe throughout these crazy times.

A real non-sequitur Apr 06, 2020

Show notes

Draft season is coming to a head, and the boys have a rambler of an episode for you guys to sink your teeth into. With quarantine being imposed, and their minds set to wander, the guys start things off with some light movie/reality TV/absolutely random, tangential chatter. After that, they hop into an extensive mailbag (16:40) where a lot of great draft questions were addressed, and some great discussion was had. They close things out with an awesome discussion about the wide receiver position in the 2020 draft (1:02:04), in which they hash out some day 2 prospects they like, who they think fits with Greg Roman and Lamar Jackson, their preference of player type, and much, much, more. We really hope you guys enjoy this one, and as always, stay safe and healthy!

Chris Orr interview + Derek Wolfe signs Mar 30, 2020

Show notes

The boys hop in the studio for what's gonna be a fun one for you guys on this Monday. First things first, there's some bad news to discuss in the Michael Brockers situation, who the Ravens ended negotiations with following concerns on results from his physical. They touch on that prior to jumping into a great interview (20:21) with Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Chris Orr (@chris_guwap). Brother of current Ravens coach (and former MLB) Zach, Chris has one of the best resumes you'll see from a standup linebacker this draft, and weirdly isn't getting a ton of buzz to be an early pick. The guys touch on that, what it was like to grow up with Zach and some of the other great athletes from his family, and plenty more. We really hope you guys enjoy the episode, and are continuing to stay safe and healthy in these wild times.

Raven Madness 2020! Mar 27, 2020

Show notes

The boys have a fun one for y'all on this fine Friday! With Spencer preoccupied, Jake rounded up Kyle (@BB_KylePBarber) and Vas (@VasilisBeatdown) for a really fun beginning to multilayered segment: Raven Madness. March Madness has of course been cancelled due to the Coronavirus, so the boys figured they'd hold a tournament of their own, with it being all Ravens related instead. After getting to some news, they jump right into the bracket (24:47) which is organized into four divisions that contain the criteria for the tournament as a whole: significant figures in Ravens history, whether it be players, coaches, or executives of some kind. They got things going today with the round of 64, voting their way through each match up within the four divisions. It was a really fun start to the exercise that we hope you guys enjoy, and we certainly hope to see you next week as we continue it. Feel free to reach out to us with your thoughts, and have an awesome weekend!

Mock Draft, post Free Agency edition Mar 24, 2020

Show notes

The first big wave of free agency has come and gone, and while there are a few big pieces still out on the market, many of the power players in the NFL have gone ahead and made their moves. With that in mind, the boys decided to go ahead and give you guys a fresh mock draft for this fine Tuesday. This time, Vas (@VasilisBeatdown) joins the fray for the first three man weave of the offseason, and he has the honor of getting things going with the first pick. Throughout this edition of things, we have a tackle coming off of the board unexpectedly early, yet another run at the wide receiver position, and a highly regarded quarterback prospect falling exceptionally far compared to his currently proposed draft stock. We hope you guys enjoy this episode, and that you're staying safe in these difficult times!
