Nicole joins the guys to talk about this spoof movie from the early 80's starring Michael Keaton and Marilu Henner. We've been hesitant to talk about another spoof since the Spy Hard debacle, but we're diving back in!

#45 American Ninja (1985) Mar 11, 2022

Show notes

Sometimes also known as American Warrior - this movie features one of the worst performances by a leading man in BMR history. This is the first of five movies in the series and after sitting through this one we are at the same time excited and terrified to watch the other four. One thing we are confident in, is that no ninjas were injured in the making this movie, because it was clear that no actual ninjas appeared.

#44 The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) Mar 04, 2022

Show notes

Buckaroo Bonzai, a rockstar, a surgeon, and all around nice guy leads the Hong Kong Cavaliers into battle. Is this a weird movie? I don't know - Christopher Lloyd fights rasta-aliens who arrive in a giant space coconut while Robocop actor (Peter Weller) and a cowboy-clad Jeff Goldblum run around trying to heal an inter-dimensional rift. Does that help?

This episode features James Hauser, Curt Mummer, Ryan Farrell and Charles Huyett.

#43 Waterworld (1995) Feb 25, 2022

Show notes

For a long time this movie has been the punching bag of Hollywood and held up as an example of a big budget flop. The BMR crew takes a look back at Waterworld to see if it truly deserves to still be a punchline, or with time and age has the movie actually become something much more - is it actually good? Water Costner fights a greasy Dennis Hopper in this post-apocalyptic film set 500 years in the future, which also still has totally still functioning jet-skis.

This episode features James Hauser, Bob Hauser, Ryan Mueller.

#42 A Low Down Dirty Shame (1994) Feb 18, 2022

Show notes

This is one of those movies that was always on back in the day, but still fuzzy in our memories. Was it actually funny, or were we just up late and in the mood to laugh at anything? We revisit this movie that was buried in a year packed with classic releases to see if it's deserving of more recognition. Perhaps this movie should have been nominated instead of Pulp Fiction or Shawshank Redemption?

Joining James on today's episode are Clint, Mel and Joe.

#41 Winners Take All (1987) Feb 11, 2022

Show notes

Never before has a movie surprised us as much as Winners Take All. A seemingly throw away 80s movies about a bunch of bros riding dirt bikes actually turned out to be surprising engrossing. The only returning cast member from a previous Bad Movies Rule episode is Deborah Richter who was in Cyborg. Don Michael Paul (the future director) and Kathleen York star in this admittedly cheesy but awesome bike flick.

The guests that join James Hauser for this episode are Clint and Joe (who also covered RAD, the other bike movie BMR covered), and joining them is Ryan M. Did the guys like it as much as James?

#40 Mr. No Legs (1978) Feb 04, 2022

Show notes

BMR Podcast Episode #40. James, Joe, Curt and Bob talk about this gem from 1978 starring a Korean war veteran as Mr. No Legs the mob enforcer. It's crazy that this movie even exists, but since it does, we're going to break it down.
