    Addict II Athlete Podcast

    The Addict II Athlete podcast is hosted by Coach Blu Robinson, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and substance abuse counselor who has worked in the field since 2001. He is a fantastic public speaker, coach, and therapist who works with many individuals, youth, couples, and families addressing issues like addiction, trauma, communication, parenting, and more. Blu hopes to provide listeners with the skills and game plans for anyone to turn their mess into their message of hope and a bright future. The AIIA podcast is here to inspire anyone. We share recovery stories, education, life tips, address teen and parenting issues, and more. Our topics address all walks of life but also addiction recovery with tips and fundamentals for those seeking recovery as well as the family and friends of someone who is. Addict II Athlete removes the negative stigma of addiction and mental health and creates a foundation of potential and support. Addict to Athlete is a nonprofit team of peers, friends, and family who have a desire to create a new way of life. By knowing an addict, having been affected by addiction, or being in recovery yourselves, Team Addict II Athlete is here to help. We have come together to help one another with the outcome from all angles of addiction using our Erase and Replace Philosophy. Erase negative behaviors by replacing the void left behind with health, service, support system, and recreation. We are here to carry the message of recovery and change the outlook of addiction. Our goal is to spread the message of recovery to the addict and family of the addict who still struggles with addiction and to show that we have discovered a more excellent way to live. Moving from Addict to Athlete, dismisses the old way of thinking that recovery must remain anonymous as you become an Agent of Sobriety and a Champion of recovery.     Today Coach Blu interviews Kathryn Burgum, the first lady of North Dakota. As First Lady, Kathryn's priority is supporting and developing initiatives to eliminate the shame and stigma of the chronic disease of addiction in North Dakota's communities.

    In long-term recovery for 20 years, she shares her personal experience and encourages others to do the same to normalize the conversation around the disease of addiction. She is spreading the word that addiction is a chronic disease and not a character flaw. Kathryn plays an active role in supporting the Office of Recovery Reinvented as the chair of the Advisory Council.     Drug Trafficking to Middleweight Champion with Ian Heinisch Nov 09, 2021

    In this week's episode Coach Blu speaks to Ian "The Hurricane" Heinisch. Listen to this powerful story as the Hurricane nickname not only embodies his fighting style but also symbolizes the whirlwind of a journey this young fighter has faced outside of the cage. Heinisch recalled being deported from Canada back to the U.S. while working there illegally. Instead of finding legal work in the states, he ended up getting into the drug trade.

    Heinisch then left his family and hopped on a Greyhound to Indiana. Shortly after arriving, Heinsch traveled to New York then on to Amsterdam. Drug trafficking from Spain to South America. Getting caught with a kilo of cocaine and imprisoned at Canary Islands. After his release, returning to New York he was ultimately taken into custody to serve his time at Rikers Island.

    Ian worked on himself and after serving his time he fought back and became a middleweight MMA Champion. Ian will show you that you never give up on what you truly want in life.

    For A Clean Cause with Wes Hurt Nov 02, 2021

    This week Coach Blu talks with Wes Hurt, the founder of CLEAN Cause and a recovering addict and alcoholic. Miraculously for Hurt, after six rehabs over 20 years and the realization that something needed to change, he finally got sober and found recovery in 2014.

    Often, people who want to go to treatment cannot afford it, and the same problem is true for sober living – there just isn't enough funding or resources to meet the need. Wes says he wanted to build something sustainable – founded on purpose to make a difference - through healthy drinks and great design. So in addition to creating purified water and organic energy drinks, CLEAN Cause where 50% of all proceeds are donated to develop sober living scholarships for those who are pursuing recovery. To date, Clean Cause has assisted 2,593 people on their path to recovery.

    Dopesick: The Sackler Family Lie Oct 25, 2021

"Dopesick" examines how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. The series takes viewers to the epicenter of America's struggle with opioid addiction, from the boardrooms of Big Pharma to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA.

    If you or a loved one has ever struggled with opiate addiction, chances are, it was because of the Sackler family and their drug OxyContin. Listen as our government failed in many different ways to protect millions of people and kicked off the worst epidemic we have ever seen. Systematically the Sackler family has enriched their lives by killing generations of people who believed their lies. This podcast details some of the events, and will undoubtedly be only one podcast released as the story continues.

    The Pornography Pandemic Oct 20, 2021

    Today Coach Blu talks with Vance Johnson, a former NFL player who played for the Denver Broncos from 1985 to 1995. They discuss life on and off the field. Vance describes his life as a fast-paced whirlwind existence leading down the road of addiction and broken relationships. After a spiritual awakening, Vance faced his addictive opponent and took his life back. Listen as Vance describes drafting himself to team sober, and now assists others by helping them choose what team they're playing for.

    Today Coach Blu interviews Hayley Leishman, a Recreational Therapist, and Addict II Athlete Certified Sober Coach. Coach Leishman has been in recovery from alcohol and drugs for almost 8 years. Her recovery path was different as she struggled to find a program or method that worked. Listen as she describes her time alone and reconnecting with nature sober. She describes, "In my first ninety days, I fished over 30 different bodies of water in an attempt to complete an arbitrary goal of catching 25 trout on a fly from 25 unique bodies of water.
