PEACEMAKER: "Ignorance Is Chris" Sep 28, 2025

Show notes

This week reveals the big twist we all saw coming, and it features a cameo by a major DC character. The wheels have stopped spinning and the story is really underway. It's the best episode of the season so far! Plus a lengthy detour into DC Comics' many Crises.

Before that: capers on pizza, Fortnite figures out what the Peacemaker dance actually is, Dappion returns and more! If you don't care about that skip to 47:09.

Thanks for listening!

PEACEMAKER: "Back to the Suture" Sep 21, 2025

Show notes

The wheel on the show keeps on spinnin', but at least the spin is entertaining. Peacemaker goes head to fist with Flag, Leota may have a new career and there are astonishing revelations about Eagley. Also: is it too simple for the alternate Earth to be a white supremacist world, or does that actually offer Peacemaker a chance at the redemption he's long wanted?

Before that: Tom Holland gets injured on the set of the new Spider-Man, we congratulate my girlfriend on her new Emmy and Doomsday finishes shooting. Plus: should Fantastic Four: First Steps have come out at Thanksgiving? And why you should always agree to be on any panel that invites you. If you don't care about this, skip to 48:51.

This weekend we released the latest Watch Men, talking about Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. Now's the time to make sure you're subscribed at the $5 or above level at our Patreon so you can hear us go deep on the overhated film!

Thanks for listening, see you next week.

PEACEMAKER: "Need I Say Door" Sep 15, 2025

Show notes

Last week's Peacemaker left us with quite a cliffhanger as ARGUS showed up at Peacemaker's house while he was totally unprepared. Clearly this episode is an all-out war, right? Right? Okay, well not so much. But does the episode work or is it wheel spinning? Does this show need more Vigilante? And were my eyes playing tricks on me or did that alien have a twig and berries?

Before that: Doctor Doom is seen! We discuss what we would turn into a shared universe. And is the Marvel method particularly bad or is it sort of similar to how other big tentpole movies get made? All of this and more in this week's episode! If, for some reason, you don't care about all that, simply skip to 54:39.

Thanks for listening and see you next week!

PEACEMAKER: "Another Rick Up My Sleeve" Sep 07, 2025

Show notes

This week Peacemaker finds himself loving the alternate dimension more than ever, but what's the catch? Your stalwart hosts know there must be one, but we disagree what it might be. And could Alt Peacemaker be a member of the Sons of Liberty?

Before that: we saw The Conjuring: Last Rites, we talk about having the very R-rated Peacemaker be the prologue to the likely family friendly Man of Tomorrow, and what's the deal with vibranium anyway? All of that and more in the opening, but if you don't care about this skip straight to 40:11.

Thanks for listening!

PEACEMAKER: "A Man Is Only As Good As His Bird" Sep 01, 2025

Show notes

Just when we thought this show might be getting a bit morose, Tim Meadows shows up like a ray of comedy sunlight and brings Peacemaker season two to the kind of hilarious place we want it to be. Hallelujah! Also: Eagley really kicks ass, and we wonder if James Gunn would ever kill Peacemaker's avian sidekick (who is maybe a duck? Or a parrot?).

Before that: you know how the news is these days. It's coming in slow and steady, but we also have your questions for the answering. And yeah, as an Xboxer I'm late to the game but I've started playing Helldivers II and lemme tell you, Derek could not care less. Do you also not care? Do you not care about us, our hopes, our dreams, our lives? Then skip right to 41:42 to get right at the recap/review.

Next week: more peace is made! See you then.

PEACEMAKER: "The Ties That Grind" Aug 25, 2025

Show notes

God bless James Gunn, who decided to follow up the success of Superman with a massive orgy in the first episode of Peacemaker season 2, released just weeks later. The idea of parents sitting down with their kids to enjoy the next chapter of the DCU and getting a whole lot of sausage is simply too funny to me.

Before we discuss the episode (and the DC Comics easter eggs within) we cover a little bit of news, including the latest casting on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and just what the heck the next chapter in the "Superman saga" could be. If you don't care about that, skip to 27:03.

By the way, the latest episode of our podcast Watch Men sees us talking about 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now is a great time to join us at the Patreon and listen to this one!

The First Appearance of Guy Gardner! Aug 15, 2025

Show notes

We loved him in Superman and we're excited to see him in Peacemaker season 2, but where does the Green Lantern Guy Gardner come from? This week we read his first appearance in Green Lantern #59 and... it's not quite what we expected. And he's not the Guy Gardner we know and love. But he does fight giant robots.

Before that: there's a whole bunch of news, including a look at the Punisher's Battle Van in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Zach Cregger's spec script DC Universe movie and why Superman is on PVOD as you listen to this episode. To skip this go to 35:47.

Next week: It's the first episode of Peacemaker season 2. We'll see you there!

EYES OF WAKANDA Aug 07, 2025

Show notes

Take a magical history tour with the War Dogs of Wakanda as they leave their homeland to retrieve vibranium and tech that has escaped their borders. These four episodes span thousands of years and have gorgeous animation... but are they actually any good? Your hosts may disagree on this subject.

In the intro: wow, that new Spider-Man suit looks great! There's a Fantastic Four sequel coming even though the film's second weekend was a bust? And just why does everybody care so much about Mephisto anyway? If you don't care about that skip right to 49:07.

Want your question read on the show? Email us at ask.cinema.sangha@gmail.com and put the name of the show on which you want your question answered in the subject line. One question per email, but as many emails as you like!

Thanks for listening! Next week: Green Lantern vol 2 #59: the first appearance of Guy Gardner! After that we're diving into Peacemaker season 2. See you then!

The First Appearance of Lex Luthor! Jul 31, 2025

Show notes

He's Superman's greatest foe, and Action Comics #23 is where he first appears. You can tell there was no grand plan for this guy, since they kill him at the end of the story. But still, the key elements of Lex are there, even if he does have a head of hair and wears a weird robe. Also: does this story feature proto-Kryptonite?

Before that we have some news including Fantastic Four: First Steps box office, Marvel cutting costs, the full reveal of the history of metahumans mural from Superman and more. Plus: your questions! This week we discuss what we want to have happen to our stuff when we die.

Next week: all four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda. See you then!

The First Appearances of Galactus And The Silver Surfer! Jul 24, 2025

Show notes

With Fantastic Four: First Steps opening tomorrow we decided to go back and look at the stories that inspired the latest MCU film - Fantastic Four #48, 49 and 50. These stories see the debuts of the Silver Surfer and Galactus, as well as... Johnny Storm going to college? Let me tell you, the structure of these comics is pretty odd. But they're one of the pinnacles of the legendary Jack Kirby/Stan Lee run.

Before that we have a ton of news, and as of this recording there isn't even anything big coming out of San Diego Comic-Con! Kevin Feige spills the beans about an MCU reset, a Booster Gold pilot is being written, there's a new Wonder Woman movie and more. If you don't care about this skip to 47:22.

This weekend we will have Fantastic Four: First Steps on Watch Men, so make sure you're subscribed to our Patreon at the $5 level to get it! You'll also gain access to our Superman episode and an incredible back catalog of episodes.

Thanks for listening. See you next week!
