    TFATWS: "Truth" Apr 18, 2021
    Show notes

Should Ed Brubaker make money from The Winter Soldier? Is Avi Arad off the Spider-Man movies? Why does Derek believe the US government owns Captain America's shield? And just what was up with Julia Louise-Dreyfuss in this episode?
This week Marvelvision tackles The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's "Truth," the episode that opens with a guy getting his arm snapped but goes on to take a breather, gives us lots of time with the characters and allows Isaiah Bradley to finally share his Truth. It's the penultimate episode and TFATWS is spending it getting everybody in position for the finale, which promises to be explosive.
If you like this show check out our Star Wars TV podcast, The Bad Batch, exclusively for $1 and above patrons at www.patreon.com/CinemaSangha.
And if you really like this podcast check out our new monthly show, Watch Men, available to $5 and above subscribers. Coming this week: a Batman Returns episode!

TFATWS: "The Whole World Is Watching" Apr 11, 2021
    Show notes

This week's episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier leaves little doubt about who is not worthy of the shield, It also convinces us who is the Evil Batman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that's none other than Zemo.
This week Derek watches The New Mutants (it's bad!), there's discussion about Ms. Marvel casting, we talk about how Steve Rogers is what America wants to be and John Walker is what America actually is, and we spin wild fantasies about a Thunderbolts TV show featuring Zemo and Walker (and don't worry, we eventually explain what Thunderbolts is to those who don't know).
The actual episode discussion starts at 17:05, but if you skip to that you will miss the worst knock knock joke perhaps ever told.
If you enjoy this show, we do one just like it for Star Wars TV and that's available to $1 and above subscribers at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha.
We also do a deep dive superhero podcast, with the next episode being about Batman Returns. That's hitting next week and is for $5 and above subscribers.

TFATWS: "Power Broker" Apr 04, 2021
    Show notes

Your flight to Madripoor leaves now!
This week was light on Marvel news, so Devin and Derek take a detour to talk about Godzilla vs Kong (but just for a minute) before jumping in to the main episode at 16:58.
With Power Broker TFATWS bring in the first element of the X-Men universe to the MCU. This episode also brings back Sharon Carter - and does her backstory prove Steve Rogers was a jerk? Zemo puts on a mask, Sam is distractingly bad at undercover work and we ponder whether this episode has the worst bit of dialogue in the whole MCU so far.
If you enjoy this podcast check out our Star Wars TV podcast, The Bad Batch, available to $1 and above subscribers at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha.
If you want more superhero talk, we have a monthly show where we go deep on superhero movies. That's for $5 and above subscribers, and right now subscribers are voting on the next movie we'll talk about. Will it be Ang Lee's Hulk, Batman Returns or The Shadow? Join here and vote!

TFATWS: "Star Spangled Man" Mar 28, 2021
    Show notes

If last week was a zero issue, this week's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is definitely a #1. This week we get a characters in place, relationships established and situations outlined. We get more detail about the post-Blip world, we learn that John Walker might be kind of an okay guy after all and we get a better idea of just what the Flag-Smashers are all about.
And there's more! This week on the podcast we have some real nitpicky arguments, Devin advances an Operation Paperclip theory he had previously retracted, and Derek sings the praises of Dwayne McDuffie, who helped change the destiny of the character known as Battlestar.
If you just want to get to the show recap/discussion you can jump to 37 minutes, but that means you'll miss talk about a spin-off about the character Echo, some pretty bad jokebook jokes and Devin's vaccine experience.
Did you like this show? We do a weekly Star Wars TV podcast at Cinema Sangha, available to subscribers at the $1 and above level. And now we also do a monthly superhero movie podcast for subscribers at the $5 and above level, starting with The Snyder Cut, aka Zack Snyder's Justice League. That episode is available now!
Thanks for listening, see you again next week!

THE FALCON & THE WINTER SOLDIER: New World Order Mar 21, 2021
    Show notes

Sam Wilson and James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes get to finally be leads in the latest Disney+ show which features more exploration of a post-Blip world and a look at the question of just who gets to wield Captain America's mighty shield.
This episode we start out with some minor Marvel news - is Andrew Garfield in the new Spider-Man after all? - before moving into the meat of this new series. But this first episode, New World Order, feels less like the first issue of a comic and more like the zero issue - a lot of prologue.
That prologue sets up some intriguing stuff, and this week we talk about the finances of the Avengers, whether Falcon even was an Avenger after Civil War, what is appropriate first date conversation, the story of Isaiah Bradley (the first Captain America) and much, much more.
If you like this you might want to hear us talk about Zack Snyder's Justice League, aka the Snyder Cut, which we do in a special two hour podcast available to subscribers at the $5 and up level at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha.
If that's more than you want to pay, you can still get another podcast from us where we talk about Star Wars TV shows for just $1 a month. We're right in the middle of watching Star Wars Rebels right now and we have 52 episodes in the archive for you to catch up with! That's also at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha.
    Thanks for listening!

    WANDAVISION Wrap Up/ASSEMBLED Mar 15, 2021
    Show notes

Wandavision has ended! This episode we take a look at the whole series through the lens of Assembled, the making-of doc released on Disney+ this week.
Before that we cover some Marvel news as well as the agita of buying a new couch, but if you don't want the latest news - which includes an investigation into whether or not Bucky Barnes would have read The Hobbit in 1937 - skip straight to 25 minutes.
There you'll find discussion about Wandavision taping in front of a live studio audience, whether Elizabeth Olsen was throwing shade at Joss Whedon or the Russo Brothers in this doc, Paul Bettany's fake butt, and the history of the Marvel Comics character Nomad, who was a Bucky but was not the Bucky.
Next week it's season two of this show, and we will begin tackling The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so get ready for that! In the meantime, if you like what you hear here, we also have a Star Wars TV show podcast that is subscriber only. For as little as $1 a month you can get in on the action of The Bad Batch. Go to www.patreon.com/cinemasangha to sign up and listen!

WANDAVISION: Series Finale Mar 07, 2021
    Show notes

And so it ends! The ninth and final (?) episode of Wandavision wraps up mysteries, finishes up Westview, and possibly opens the door to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. But is it any good?

We go deep on the episode, digging into what works, what didn't and what really didn't. And then we have a big argument about the nature of consequences in the MCU (and comics in general).

If you skip the intros, great news: it's short this week! Jump to about 9:38 to miss us talking about set photos that appeared online and about whether or not Black Widow is really opening in theaters in May.

Next week we'll wrap up Wandavision with an episode about the Making Of that Disney+ will be airing, and then we'll come back for Falcon and the Winter Soldier!

WANDAVISION: Previously On Feb 27, 2021
    Show notes

It's the episode that gives us some big time magic and it's coming to you a little bit early!
If you don't want the intro skip all the way to 30 minutes, because we got a doozy tonight! We talk about some news, including this tweet that seems to give us our first non-spoiler look at The Eternals.

But most of this time is taken up talking about that beloved MCU franchise: Superman. Yes, we detour to the DC Universe to weigh in on the latest reboot of the Man of Steel, this one with an intriguing writing pedigree, if nothing else.

As for Wandavision: this is an episode that gives us a lot of answers we have been hoping to get, and we're pretty happy with them. But don't worry, we still have lots to argue about... including whether or not Agatha is a villain.
If you like this show, listen to us talk about Star Wars TV every week at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha - subscriptions as low as $1 a month get access to The Bad Batch, our Star Wars TV show podcast!

WANDAVISION: Breaking The Fourth Wall Feb 22, 2021
    Show notes

A quick note: our podcast host has been under a DDOS attack the last two days, which is why this is late. They may go down again, so if you see this in your feed... download it immediately!
We won't lie: this is another long one. If you want to skip the news and the banter and the Marvel joke book stuff, head right to 18:06. We won't blame you if you do. If you stick it out, though, you'll get some talk about Thor 2 and Ms Marvel and Doctor Strange 2.

In the main episode itself you'll get Devin and Derek arguing about which scenes this week go where (somebody's viewing notes are messy), but you'll also get theories about Agnes and what her deal really is. You didn't think this episode really gave the game away, did you? We don't!

Plus: speculation about Richard E Grant, Derek manages to bring The Flash into it and we argue about whether or not The Vision should go back to being dead when it's all said and done.

Thank you for listening! If you like this show, check out our Star Wars TV podcast, The Bad Batch, available only to subscribers at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha

    WANDAVISION: All-New Halloween Spooktacular Feb 14, 2021
    Show notes

So Quicksilver is back: what does it mean? This week's Wandavision spends a lot of time grappling with questions about what is happening inside the Hex and why. The very fact that the show is asking the same questions we are is, Devin and Derek think, good news.
Also this episode: discussion of Marvel's Behind the Mask, a new documentary that debuted on Disney+ this week about Marvel's history of inclusion and diversity. That's in the intro, along with some Captain Marvel 2 news.
If you don't care about that stuff, jump to 31:20 and begin the episode recap and review! This week there are a lot of theories thrown around about just what's up with Pietro, whether or not Vision makes his own clothes and just who the mysterious person Monica is going to meet could be. Derek has one theory, Devin has another and they're probably both wrong.
Thanks for listening, and if you want more podcasting like this, except centered around Star Wars TV shows, go to Cinema Sangha, become a patron and start listening to The Bad Batch!
