LOKI: "For All Time. Always" Jul 16, 2021
    Show notes

Want to hear us talk about Black Widow? Subscribe at the $5 or above level at www.patreon.com/CinemaSangha and listen to us talk about it for two hours and forty minutes!
Here it is: the season finale of Loki, an episode that brings in a character who is at once very unexpected and also very expected. But is this the beginning of a new era for the MCU or the embodiment of all the complaints people have about MCU storytelling?
The main discussion kicks in after 18:40, so if you don't want to hear news, trivia and a lengthy discussion about why the upcoming Snake Eyes movie upsets us, jump to right there.
We'll be back next week with a wrap up discussion of the season as a whole, and then we'll move on to What If...? the first animated MCU show! Should be fun.
Thank you for listening, and if you enjoy this show consider joining the Patreon - at the $1 level you get our weekly Star Wars TV show podcast, The Bad Batch, plus you get the joy of supporting this program!

LOKI: "Journey Into Mystery" Jul 10, 2021
    Show notes

This one is a day late, but with good reason: Derek was literally in the dark! A blackout took him out of commission for a couple of days. Sorry about the delay.
But better late than never? And even late we have a lot to talk about with this episode of Loki, including a laundry list of Easter Eggs, why the Void is so Loki-centric and whether or not other Marvel characters should have cameo'd, arguments for and against Kang the Conqueror being the Big Bad at the end of the show (or Immortus or some other variation on Kang) and, in response to a Twitter question, just what it is that we like about this show anyway.
There is also news and there is trivia, but be aware: one piece of news we cover is slightly slightly slightly spoilery for Black Widow, but we announce the arrival of the slight, slight, slight spoiler and you can feel free to jump to 19:12 to avoid it altogether.
Speaking of Black Widow: next week's Watch Men will be the Black Widow episode, so subscribe now at the $5 and above level to make sure you can listen when it's fresh! Click here to subscribe!
See you next week for the big finale of Loki, and to find out how wrong all of our guesses about the Big Bad ended up being.
EDIT: This week we give bad Throg info, and it's all my fault. I have not read the Simonson stories we reference in DECADES and so I get details wrong. My apologies.

LOKI: "The Nexus Event" Jul 01, 2021
    Show notes

Listen to The Bad Batch, our weekly Star Wars TV show podcast! Subscribe at $1 a month!
For $5 a month you get Watch Men, our monthly superhero deep dive podcast. The latest episode is about Darkman, and in a couple of weeks we'll be talking Black Widow.

Just when you think you have a handle on Loki the show goes and switches it up on you. This episode made us yell out loud at least twice, gave us that Wizard of Oz goodness, and left us stunned with the mid-credits scene.
On the show this week we do some Marvel news, and we talk about Kevin Feige confirming that was the Abomination in the Shang-Chi trailer, we have run out of Marvel jokes so we do a little trivia, and we throw around our theories about just what is the real story with the TVA. Skip to about 19 minutes if you don't care about news, jokes and discussions of the climate crisis!

    LOKI: "Lamentis" Jun 24, 2021
    Show notes

So here we are, recording this episode when suddenly a Shang-Chi trailer drops! We talk about that in the news segment up front, along with some other less than stellar Marvel news. Skip to about 25:00 if you don't want to hear that!
Then it's on to the show! This episode of Loki is character-centric, and it may also be a Borderlands mission, depending on how you look at it. But whatever it is, it's the impetus for Devin and Derek to have a big argument over whether or not Loki and Sylvie are living in a deterministic timeline - which is what you have to expect from a show about time travel and keeping the timelines clean.
Is Loki being canonically bi a big deal or not? Is that guy in the Shang-Chi trailer Abomination or Ch'od? Is this episode good, bad or good and bad? All of this and more on Marvelvision!
By the way - the latest episode of our superhero movie podcast, Watch Men, is out now! We cover Darkman and it's available to $5 and above subscribers at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha. Check it out!

LOKI: "The Variant" Jun 18, 2021
    Show notes

Do you need a hero? Because we got one on Loki this week.
On this latest episode of Marvelvision we talk about some Marvel news, including the way that Anthony Mackie put his foot right in his mouth when asked about a possible romantic relationship between The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. There's a reason he's an actor and not a writer of these shows.
If you don't care about news or jokes just skip ahead to about 18:30 where we get into the meat of the episode. We talk about Ravonna Renslayer, sort of girlfriend of Kang the Conqueror! We talk about Sylvie, who in the comics may have been created by Loki. We talk about just where the TVA is, and a theory about who Mobius could actually be. Plus.... we love the episode! Two episodes in and Loki is strong as hell... can it maintain? One way to find out.
Next week: Watch Men will be doing Darkman. Subscribe now at the $5 level on the Patreon (www.patreon.com/cinemasangha) so you don't miss it!

LOKI: "Glorious Purpose" Jun 11, 2021
    Show notes

It's a new show! Loki has debuted and... it rules? Owen Wilson rules, Eugene Cordero rules, the premise rules, Tom Hiddleston rules.
Wait, this does not mean you need to skip this episode of Marvelvision! In fact this is why you should listen, so you can hear us pick apart everything that makes this the best episode of a Marvel TV show so far, from the relatively small Easter Eggs (is this Peggy Carter?) to the question of just how much Owen Wilson improvs to our theories about what the future of the TVA will be, and how it fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But before we get there: Devin talks about a fight he got into this week, we discuss Jameela Jamil's weird history of being chased by bees, and Derek recounts a wholesome visit from our father this week... as well as Marvel news and Marvel jokebook Yo Mama jokes. If you don't want to hear all that greatness, skip right to 17:30!
In other podcast news, the latest Watch Men poll is up at Cinema Sangha! Subscribers at the $5 and above level can choose between Darkman, Sky High and Chronicle as the next superhero movie we cover. Click here to subscribe and vote!
Thank you for listening and strap in... Loki seems like it'll be a wild ride!

    MODOK Episodes 6-10 Jun 04, 2021
    Show notes

It's a wrap on season one of MODOK!
This week there's some news, including photos of Mark Ruffalo in his Hulk costume on the set of She-Hulk (RIP the career of the lady who shared them to her Facebook). Click here if you want to see those pics yourself. We also leave the MCU briefly to talk about the failure of Jupiter's Legacy and about the weird metrics of streaming TV.
Then it's on to MODOK, and whether or not the back half is as good as the first half, Wonder Man's hatred of the homeless, and the shockingly dark turn the show takes in the finale.
Next week it's back to the MCU with Loki, so get ready for that.
Meanwhile check out The Bad Batch, our Star Wars TV show podcast available only to $1 and above subscribers at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha.
If you need even more Faraci brothers podcasting, join at the $5 level and get the monthly Watch Men show where we deep dive into a superhero movie. The latest episode is Kick -Ass!
Also, if you want to read the review of A Quiet Place Part II mentioned here, it's on the Patreon (for free!).
Thanks for listening and we'll see you next week!

    MODOK Episodes 1-5 May 28, 2021
    Show notes

Surprise, we're back! After a couple of weeks away Marvelvision has returned. But no, it's not because Loki is debuting earlier than expected, it's because we're covering the first season of the stop motion comedy series MODOK, which is not set in the MCU but is full of deep, deep nerd cuts.
The first 22:26 minutes of this episode are all about the news, including The Eternals trailer and the confirmation that yes, Oscar Isaac is playing Moon Knight. That means we have to talk about how weird it will be if Moon Knight, an eternal D- list character, ends up becoming very popular.
Then it's on to MODOK! We certainly don't go into every Easter Egg - this is a show that need Pop Up Video - but we do try to talk about some of the better deep cuts in the show - especially in Episode 4, If Saturday Be... For the Boys! (this show has the best episode titles).
This episode only covers episodes 1-5, and there are no spoilers for episodes beyond that. We will be back next week with the remainder of the season and then it's on to Loki!
By the way, if you enjoy this show you might like our other shows. The Bad Batch is a Star Wars TV show podcast, and we're currently covering the new show, The Bad Batch. That's subscriber only - but you can get it for as little as $1 a month at www.patreon.com/CinemaSangha.
Then there's our show Watch Men, where we deep dive into a superhero movie every month! This month it's Kick-Ass; we've also done episodes on Batman Returns and Zack Snyder's Justice League. When there are no new superhero movies in theaters we cover listener-chosen old films, but when a new movie comes out - like Black Widow in two months! - we'll be covering that. You can get Watch Men and The Bad Batch if you subscribe at the $5 or above level at www.patreon.com/CinemaSangha!

    Phase Four Announcements & TFATWS Wrap-up May 03, 2021
    Show notes

With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier all done we do a wrap-up of the series, as well as talk about the Assembled making-of doc that dropped on Disney+ last week. COVID, earthquakes and cut storylines make up the meat of that discussion.
But before that: Marvel dropped a Phase Four trailer that included some intriguing new info. Black Panther 2 is officially called Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Captain Marvel II is not even a Captain Marvel movie anymore... it's The Marvels! The first Eternals footage!
Plus we go back to talk about the trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, we talk about Green Lantern casting and we discuss the sad and untimely passing of comic great John Paul Leon. If you want to give to the memorial fund we discuss in this episode, click here.
Marvelvision will be dark next week but we'll be back soon as MODOK debuts on Hulu and as Loki comes to Disney+. If you miss our voices consider joining the Cinema Sangha Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/cinemasangha) and start listening to our Star Wars TV show podcast, The Bad Batch. This week we will begin covering the new Star Wars show, which just happens to be called The Bad Batch! Set right after the Prequels it follows a group of clone troopers gone rogue and on the run from the Empire.

TFATWS: "One World, One People" Apr 25, 2021
    Show notes

It's the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and it's an action extravaganza. Everything is getting wrapped up, the Power Broker is revealed and a new Captain America arrives on the scene.
So of course the episode begins with Devin sharing a macaroni and cheese recipe he really likes, and then there's a lot of Marvel Studios news - including the announcement of Captain America 4 - so that means the show discussion doesn't even get underway until around the 28 minute mark, but if you skip to that you'll miss a couple of jokes are that maybe even good!
In the episode itself Devin and Derek talk about whether the whole government is run out of one room, who Julia Louis-Dreyfuss works for anyway, why John Walker is a great character even if he's not a great dude, the great speech at the end and whether or not all that action actually worked.
We'll be back again next week with a wrap up looking at the series as a whole! In the meantime join the Patreon at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha to get more podcasts like this, including a Star Wars TV podcast and a monthly superhero movie deep dive!
