Ol' Babyhead is pulling a Nick Fury and is bringing together characters we met all season (and also one we didn't meet yet, and Derek explains why that is) to fight the powered up Ultron from last episode. Was all the build up worth it? Does it pay off? Why don't the live action movies have action scenes like the ones on this show?
It's the season finale of What If...? and we discuss the journey so far and also the action-packed episode in front of us. Plus: lots of news, including a vital Black Widow deleted scene and an Agatha Harkness TV show. Plus we discover the intriguing connection between the Pet Shop Boys and Marvel. This one's a little late because Devin had the temerity to take a vacation. Sorry about that! But we're back, and we're talking about such Marvel topics as Malignant and James Gunn's DC projects... but also stuff like The Eternals, Venom 2's opening weekend and the pundits who declared theaters and superhero films dead, and how the Spider-Verse and the MCU might come together.

"WHAT IF... T'Challa Became A Star-Lord?" Aug 20, 2021

So what do you even want out of a show called What If...? ? This is a driving element of this episode of Marvelvision as we debate what a show with this name and comic book legacy should be delivering.
The latest episode of What If...? delivers a T'Challa focused story that also ends up being Chadwick Boseman's final (maybe? Could he be in more episodes?) performance as the Wakandan king. It's a very bittersweet thing, as the whole focus of the episode is on how good and noble the character - and by the entertainment transitive property - the actor is.
Before that we got a huge news dump, including early reactions to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, a new Eternals trailer, no new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer and more. It's a long intro, so if you're one of those "no intro please, we're British" households skip right to 38:00.

Marvelvision: "WHAT IF... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" Aug 13, 2021

Behold the multiverse!
The latest Marvel TV show goes in very unexpected directions, both in terms of plot and style. It's the first animated show from Marvel Studios, and it's a show based on the wonderful comic book What If...?, which looked at important points in Marvel history and wondered what would happen if they went a little bit differently.
But does it work? While Uatu the Watcher asks "What if?" we ask whether it's any good. The premiere episode gets some mixed marks from us. Before we get there we discuss Marvel news, including COVID impacts on release dates. And we talk about the secret truth behind movie junkets and the way reactions to movies come in waves.
