I spend so much time sharing other people’s stories that I thought I’d share some of my own. Episode 12 is a solo episode celebrating my 20 years of being born again. I share with you candidly from one of my books “Crumbled A Place for Broken People”. I talk honestly about the skeletons in my closet as I begin to realize that they are actually a valley of dry bones in my heart. I discover that they are the things I thought were not only dead but so far gone that they were beyond God’s ability to revive them. Hang on as I also share about my own personal experience of accepting Christ 20 years ago as a grown woman who prior to that moment thought that church was just a facade, the Bible was fiction, and Jesus wasn’t any more than a historical figure. To be honest, I am a bit nervous about sharing this episode because I share about my own struggles. We don't like to share our icky stuff, our traumas, our perpetual sins, our broken places, so we hide those places in our lives from others and cut ourselves off as we wrestle with God. In this episode, we look at some of my "junk" and what God has to say about it. The good news is that when I am at my worst, God shows up in transformative and beautiful ways. Almost 21 million Americans have at least one addiction, yet only 10% of them receive treatment. Drug overdose deaths have more than tripled since 1990. About 20% of Americans who have depression or an anxiety disorder also have a substance use disorder. More than 90% of people who have an addiction started to drink alcohol or use drugs before they were 18 years old.
