Cults to Consciousness

Stories of claiming independence after leaving high-control groups.

Hi!  I’m Shelise Ann Sola— former devout Mormon.  On C2C, my husband Jonathan and I dive deep into the nuance of culty organizations.  From Extreme Christian Fundamentalism, FLDS Polygamy, Amish, Mennonite, Mormonism, Scientology, Ultra Orthodox, and Jehovah's Witnesses, to cults featured in popular docu-series, we interview cult experts, survivors, advocates, therapists, way-showers, authors, and more, to uncover how they find independence and healing through awareness and true individual sovereignty.

Backstage at the Vinyl Cafe

Backstage at the Vinyl Cafe welcomes listeners into the warm and comforting world of the Vinyl Cafe. Each episode features stories about Canada’s favourite fictional family: Dave, Morley and the kids, narrated by the late Stuart McLean and recorded live in concert. For the first time ever, long-time producer Jess Milton shares rare, behind-the-scenes stories from her 15 years touring, travelling, laughing, and recording with her close friend Stuart.

This is a world that is rooted in kindness, connection, and the laughter of recognition. A world that brings people together to rejoice in our ridiculousness. A world where we celebrate the small triumphs over the adversities of the everyday: like trying to find the perfect gift for someone you love, or the first Christmas without your sister; like trying to stage manage the school Christmas pageant, or trying to defrost a turkey with a hairdryer (we’ve all done that, right?).

Join us. New episodes every Friday.

Digital Diary with Hannah Elise

These conversations usually only happen in my head. (...and specifically in the middle of the night, because that’s when I come upon every inspired thought I’ve ever had. for some reason.) This podcast is my Digital Diary. In each episode, I will brain-dump, talk through, and share my perspective on a new topic relevant to my journey of navigating life in my 20s. And I’m Hannah, a 24-year-old just trying to figure out what any of us are *actually* supposed to be doing. Spoiler alert: I don’t know how to crack this code, but then again… none of us do. So we might as well be in it together. There will be a little bit of everything here - highs and lows, experiences and lessons, self-care and self-improvement, and everything in between. Welcome to Digital Diary with Hannah Elise - hanging out every Tuesday. More from me: Instagram - @hannahelisemaute // @digitaldiarypod YouTube - @HannahElise Read More

With my last move I have finally started to build that group of girlfriends and I’ve come to realize so many of us are searching for this connection. Maybe you already have a girl group - here’s an opportunity to expand it! But if you don’t, I hope you find that friendship here, through this girls night podcast every other Monday, with me, your host Brittinie. Read More

When You’re Invisible

WHEN YOU’RE INVISIBLE is my love letter to the working class and people who are othered in society. We in western, especially American, capitalist culture often focus on stories of people who have achieved positions of influence, wealth and power; this podcast won’t be doing that. I want to shed light on the experiences of folks who feel invisible in some way in our world; blue collar workers, people who deal with a physical difference, immigrants, and many more. Each voice you hear is another layer of our national or international community. Each conversation offers insight into a perhaps previously unexplored way of living, allowing us to expand our view into what is possible, what is truly valuable to us, and how that can be the opposite of what we thought. As host of this show, I can relate to my guests’ experiences because I come from a bifurcated background; there are times when I’ve felt invisible; there are other times I’ve felt privileged. I’m passionate about exposing and breaking down barriers between people to make the world a better place. Many of my guests are being interviewed for the first time in their lives and it is an honor to host them. At times, listeners will hear unbelievable, yet true stories. What do everyday people have to say about their lives, their country, the world they grew up in, their hopes and dreams? When a person comes from any sort of privilege (and there are many kinds) there are a number of biases and assumptions we hold. On this show, I’ll unpack some of my own. When You’re Invisible hopes to inspire generous and honest conversations with others who are different from us, conversations that might help us see life in an entirely different way.
