Miseducation

New York City is home to the nation’s most segregated school system, a fact that surprises those who think of the Big Apple as a progressive beacon. Deep inequities exist at every level of the NYC school system. We think more people should know about them and push to fix them.

That's why, each semester, we bring together a team of high school interns from across the school system to tell important stories from the perspective of the real experts: students.

Miseducation is a program of The Bell. For more, visit bellvoices.org/podcast and follow us on Instagram @bell.voices.

Ethics Talk: Philosophy, Flourishing and The Good Life

Socrates said that talking about virtue and the good life is one of the most important things a human being can do. That's where "Ethics-Talk" fits in. Housed in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Central Michigan University (CMU), The Center for Professional and Personal Ethics brings you discussions about ethical issues, both pure and applied. For us at EthicsTalk -- "ethics" is broad and encompasses things that affect a human being's flourishing. To that end, students working with the Center discuss ethics-related topics such as academic integrity, intrinsic motivation, procrastination, and cultivating self-regulation and other powerful habits. Additionally, we discuss study and motivational strategies related to intimidating endeavors such as studying for the bar exam. We are also very interested in how technology can either promote or hinder flourishing and discuss "media ecology" issues including the thought of Walter Ong and the concept of "digital virtue". In addition to our student produced show, scholars, authors and practitioners (such as Michael Strong, Anya Kamenetz, Lindsay Hyde, Thomas Farrell and Dr. Jeffrey Wigand) discuss ethics related issues with the Center's Director. To learn more about the Center, visit us at http://ethics.cmich.edu and follow us on twitter at: http://www.twitter.com/ethicstalk.

******************************************IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS FEED comes from BLOGTALKRADIO and does not include our complete archives. So we set up ANOTHER itunes feed which has the complete archives. thereafter. To access the COMPLETE archives, go to itunes, search for "ethics talk" and click on the hedgehog. Oh, and we like the hedgehog for the same reason that Jim Collins does.

Coffee Time with Carlos Machado

Start Your Morning with Coffee, Conversation, and Real-Life Wisdom

Most people never get the chance to do what they love, not because they can't, but because of the stories they believe or the setbacks they've faced. But adversity doesn't have to define you. You can rise above it and go further than you ever imagined.

Join me, Carlos Machado, every Monday through Thursday at 9:00 AM CST for Coffee Time With Carlos, where we blend 50 years of martial arts experience and over three decades in business into conversations that inspire, challenge, and uplift.

If I can share even one insight that helps you grow stronger mentally, physically, or spiritually then every episode is worth it. Because in the end, we are all one… or all none.

So pour a cup, pull up a chair, and let’s share life together.

Teaching While White Podcast

Over 80% of teachers in the U.S. are white. But most don’t know that their whiteness matters. TWW seeks to move the conversation forward on how to be consciously, intentionally, anti-racist in the classroom. Because "white" does not mean a blank slate. It is a set of assumptions that is the baseline from which everything is judged; it is what passes for normal. This means if you are not white or don’t adhere to those assumptions, you are abnormal or less than. TWW wants to have conversations about those assumptions: what they are, how they impact our students, and how we can confront our assumptions to promote racial literacy.
