    You’re Making It Worse

Although performing stand-up comedy was what initially united Eliot, Brent, and H. Alan over 10 years ago, it’s their openness (and sense of humor) about feeling totally lost and disconnected from the gay community that’s truly bonded them. On YMIW, Eliot, Brent and H. Alan get down and dirty, exploring the good, bad, and ugly tropes of contemporary gay life, often the stuff that no one — especially straight people — discuss for fear of being labeled homophobic. (Don’t worry. They’ll do that for you.) Each episode features a special guest -- comedians, humorists, musicians, influencers, film/TV writers, journalists, politicians, etc. – as well as allies, enemies, and acquaintances from all backgrounds and professions, not just those in the public eye. And as white, urban-dwelling gay dudes in their thirties, Eliot, Brent and H. Alan check their own privilege at the door, eager to instead explore what life looks for those not afforded the same concessions.

    Todd Masterson Dec 19, 2019
    Show notes

Now that Chik Fil-a is, like, "okay" with gays or whatever, is it time to reconsider the fast food chain? Then, comedian Todd Masterson of @gayfatfriend joins Brent, Eliot and H. Alan to talk about his brilliantly funny ability to satirize Instagays by simply inserting himself into their pictures and videos. And finally, the guys discuss straight male crushes -- Jason Biggs FTW -- and the myth of what it's like to hook up with a guy who doesn't identify as being queer.

Students at a California Catholic high school recently staged a walkout in support of a student systematically separated from her girlfriend BY THE FACULTY. What would Jesus do?! Then, Ify Nwadiwe joins the guys to talk about life on Twitch, gaymer culture, and his early days of comparing dick size (but exclusively over the phone). And Brent, Eliot and H. Alan reflect on a new book by Robyn Crawford, the longtime secret girlfriend of Whitney Houston. Incidentally, do YOU know who Meshell Ndegeocello is?

Will Miles and Giulia Rozzi Dec 05, 2019
    Show notes

In a new poll, Americans were asked if they're ready for a gay president, and the answer ...will probably not surprise you. You should still listen, though. Comedians (and husband and wife) Will Miles and Giulia Rozzi of the podcast Hopefully We Don't Break Up talk about their long, winding road to marriage, including weird sex parties, quesadillas, and the dangers of watching HBO's Real Sex. And finally, would you fuck Burt Reynolds? What about Shawn Mendes? JFK in his prime? Nick Nolte then? Bruce Willis now? When it comes to mainstream "heartthrobs," who are the ones that Brent, Eliot and H. Alan consider wildly overrated? And if you agree with H. Alan about Idris Elba, Eliot and Brent think you're crazy. Don't @ us. Actually, DEFINITELY @ us! We want to hear from you!

    Max Emerson Nov 21, 2019
    Show notes

In a Bush-era throwback, VP Mike "Daddy" Pence is celebrating the Trump administration's "faith-based" move to make it harder for LGBTQ people to adopt children. Um, OK BOOMER. Then, in a wildly unlikely booking, this week's guest is professional Instagay Max Emerson, better known as @maxisms. Yes, THAT Max Emerson, the subject of this podcast's ire on more than one occasion. Brent, Eliot and H. Alan try to figure out the economics of thirsty pics, branding, and "activism" according to Max and it's a journey, y'all! And finally, when it comes to kinks, what do the guys find impossible to resist? Gapped teeth? Weird belly buttons? PISS PORN? Let's REALLY get to know each other, shall we?

    Dave Holmes Nov 14, 2019

In a world seemingly filled with "corporate pride," where does Kellogg fall in combining Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Frosted Mini-Wheats and Corn Flakes into one megamix cereal meant to promote inclusivity? The guys are then joined by author, podcaster and iconic MTV VJ Dave Holmes to talk about boyhood crushes, life at the MTV Beach House and the elusive Simon Rex sex tape. And after a Charli XCX fan managed to get her to sign his douche kit, Brent, Eliot and H. Alan have ask a pressing question: WHY?

Emily Faye & Paige Weldon Nov 07, 2019
    Show notes

First, the guys discuss a recent study revealing that drivers for ride sharing apps are way more likely to cancel on a passenger if a rainbow emoji appears in their profile. And don't worry, they're also racist! Then, Paige Weldon and Emily Faye, hosts of the podcast Mall Talk, join Brent, Eliot and H. Alan to talk all things mall-related. And the guys have SO many questions. Why is Lolli & Pops so stingy with their samples? Who decides what to sell at Spencer's Gifts? What the fuck is COTTON ON? And finally, when it comes to the things that make them squirm, find out who passes out during a blood pressure test, an eye exam, or merely at the thought of the word "tissue."

Then, comedian, writer, and crafting kween Joselyn Hughes joins Brent, Eliot and H. Alan to talk about intuition, spirituality, and THE SPOOKIEST RELATIONSHIP STORY YOU'LL EVER HEAR, GUARANTEED! There's even a Chelsea Handler cameo! And finally, when it comes to irrational fears, the guys talk about the things that haunt them most.

So Ellen <3's George W. Bush, but the guys aren't so quick to go in for that group hug. Then, pioneering comedian Ian Harvie talks to Brent, Eliot and H. Alan about what it was like to be openly trans onstage in the early 2000's...versus now, when people literally just grab his junk after shows. And enjoy the new segment LGBTQ&A where the guys answer your burning questions about all things queer. And, luckily, all their answers are 100% correct every single time!

First things first, the guys download the LGBTQ Town Hall, including whether or not Elizabeth Warren's stand-up routine was genuinely splintering (or not). And in keeping with the political vibe, Brent, Eliot and H. Alan welcome libertarian 2018 Ohio gubernatorial candidate (and comedian/pothead) Travis Irvine. Then, Brent asks the age old question "Did I get stood up?"

Just before leaving office, Republican Wisconsin congressman, Real World: Boston alum, and father of NINE Sean Duffy had his drop the mic moment by introducing a bill that would make it illegal to abort a gay fetus. Unpack THAT one. Then, High & Mighty host Jon Gabrus joins Brent, Eliot and H. Alan to talk about deep likes, homoerotic hazing, and why liking movies makes you gay on Long Island, even if you're not gay. And is "coming out" still necessary? Queer Eye's Karamo doesn't think so. And you know who LOVES Karamo? H. Alan Scott.
