Episode #172: Jay Allen | Strategies to Sustainably Grow Your Business Jun 05, 2020
    Show notes

Have you reached your highest potential? Ever felt the need to remain on at the top of your game? In this episode of Enlightened Entrepreneur Podcast, award-winning business strategy coach reveals what it takes to sustainably grow your business in today’s market.

    Key Questions Asked:

How did Jay Allen transition himself to becoming a business strategist? What are the mistakes that stop business startups grow? Based on the statistics of 80% of businesses which had a wrong business approach, what are Jay Allen’s thoughts on this? What approach or business strategy he can give to business owners who would like to get to 40% success ratio group? What other mistakes that long-time running businesses do that made them failed? What should be the mindset of business owners if they want to succeed?

    Highlights of the Lessons Learned:

The major mistakes identified that business owners do which caused them to fail are:

    1. Being driven by the local competition

This speaks about: a) idealism; b) your clear vision of what do you want to achieve and c) your courage to walk where you want to be.

Meaning, business owners should stop looking and comparing to your competitors. They only need to “Simply Look Into Somebody” instead.

Replicating this “Somebody” with his/her extraordinary qualities, somebody may look up to you as well – which gives you credits of elevation.

    2. NOT Focusing on the big goals

While being consummated by day-to-day thoughts, business owners tend to forget the big goals which you envisioned – making not to touch base on how to grow or sustain the growth of the business. This is equally true for long-term running businesses.

How to avoid this scenario of failing? Business owners need to hire someone who will do and focus on smaller tasks – so that they can focus on formulating and implementing strategies to reach their big goals. To cite, outsourcing services serves perfectly in this picture.

    4. Wrong circle and influence of people

Business owners should engage in constant learning. They need to be progressing through the people who can give better inputs and ideas and bring them up.

The attained success will ultimately determine the quality of questions asked within yourself. This refers to your clear vision and how much courage you take in this pursuit.

Episode #171: Al-Ameen Raif | 3 Start-up Mistakes You May Not Know You Are Doing Jun 03, 2020
    Show notes

How do you minimize risks when you’re starting up? In this episode of Enlightened Entrepreneur Podcast, innovative business owner, Al-Ameen Raif talks about his journey towards success and what every business owner must know when choosing an industry and how to set up a steady cash flow.

    Key Questions Asked:

How does Al-Ameen go about getting an idea out into the marketplace? What are the common mistakes that business owners commit in their early years of development? How best can they best avoid these mistakes? If he were to start all over again knowing what he knows today, what would Al-Ameen do differently?

    Highlights of Lessons Learned

    Marketing an Idea

Al-Ameen believes that the business is like a solution maker for any problem. As long as there is a need that people can’t fill themselves, they will look for a solution from ready-made brands.

Startup business owners look for a problem then they survey how they can solve it but then they have to introduce it to the market in an interesting way.

    2 kinds of Business

People would do what they love and what they are passionate about, People would get into a business because it guarantees income and will create resources for them

Most business owners are strong enough to do both of them, but for a startup, sometimes they have to choose between the two.

One tip from Al-ameen to add a touch of the modern world into your business is to have something exciting because people are getting less energized, less willing to do things, they all like spending half of their life on social media and they need something to be excited about.

    Common Mistakes

Business owners often think it’s all about resources, but the fact is that it’s not about funding. The real problem lies in people not knowing exactly what they need and what they already have.

Another problem is that business owners sometimes think that they are the only people in this industry but you have to understand that many people are already doing what you want to start.

Al-ameen believes that instead of using up all their money on starting up a business, if business owners have the opportunity to invest their start up money on something that will help them create a steady cash flow, for example buying shares that will generate granted income for them, they should do it. The huge benefit of that is that they have the ability to try and fail and try and fail and the same budget it will not dry up.

    How to Avoid the Mistakes

By knowledge, awareness and by sharing. Al-ameen believes that business owners always need to gather information for basic knowledge, and if there’s a challenge blocking their way, they have to share it.

If he were to start all over again, knowing what he knows now, Al-Ameen would save more money and work harder.

When you are planning to go into a business and you don’t have qualification yet, look for an industry that does not require credibility for you to sell.

Episode #170: Doug Kisgen | The Fastest Path of Success As a Consultant Jun 01, 2020
    Show notes

“It’s much easier to be in front of people in a speaker standpoint than to go one on one and tell them how great you are. The key is..bring value in that speaking session in such a way that you can get sort of this one on one feel.”

Are you faced with a decision to move forward with an idea that’s been ceaselessly running in your mind? How exactly are you going to do that?

In this episode of Enlightened Entrepreneur Podcast, serial entrepreneur, and organizational consultant, Doug Kisgen talks about how to turn an idea into a smashing success, including some strategies to implement and mistakes to avoid along the way. Doug also talks about his book, RETHINK HAPPY: An Entrepreneur’s Journey Toward Authentic Joy.

    Key Questions Asked:

How did Doug get started on the path of entrepreneurship? What criteria does he use in deciding what business to go into? What advice would he give to a business owner who is thinking about what areas they can go into? What roadblocks did Doug face early on which can be avoided or handled differently, had someone told him about it beforehand? How did he get his first client? What is his book all about? What stops people from succeeding when it comes to consulting? If he were to start all over again, knowing what he knows now, what would he do differently?

    Highlights of Lessons Learned:

Criteria For What Business To Go Into

For his next business venture, Doug decides to do something that changes lives but in a more positive atmosphere. One of his mentors, Dan Miller, author of 48 Days to the Work You Love, taught him that if you want to make money doing something different look at your passions and think if you can develop a skill or any way to put you in a position that makes you different from anything else that’s out there.

    Strategies

In his very first entry into the business, Doug went in with blinders on. Although he tried to learn everything he can by reading, the learning curve was still relatively high. The best methodology Doug has used in his consulting business from then all the way til now is public speaking. Find whatever market it is that would buy your service or your consulting. The best and number one way for Doug to build his consulting business is speaking to people who are potential prospects. The fastest path to success is learning from others, a mentor, who had done it before you.

If he were to start completely over

First, he would secure plenty of capital and plenty of cash so that he has that fail-safe, which he didn’t have before. Second, he would invest more heavily in talent, meaning he’d rather spend a little bit more on the right talent because it produces a higher quality product. Third, he would be much more stringent when it comes to hiring people.

    Consulting

What stops most business owners dead on their tracks is not knowing who they really are and lacking the understanding that there are people who have different talents so you have to make sure that you position them in the proper place. Simply exposing yourself to people who have very similar issues that you are dealing with can be validating and will give you some peace, knowing that you’re not alone.

    Contributing to the Community

Doug believes that the most important thing is providing good jobs for good people who enjoy coming to work every day.

Episode #169: Elliot Carlyle | Key Secrets to Personal Branding May 29, 2020
    Show notes

Great brands have personality. They have attitude, they have value, and they have belief, and I think that if you can define what your personality is, what your attitude is, why people value you, and why people should believe in you, I think that’s a recipe for success right there.”

In this episode of Yeukai Business Show, a renowned business owner, fashion expert and successful mentor, talks about the importance of personal branding and how to establish authenticity and unique reputation in your chosen niche.

    Key Questions Asked:

What is Elliot’s background and how did he get to where he is today? How did he establish his personal brand? How did he get his very first client? How does Elliot market his business? What is his personal motivation that keeps him going when things are not going so well? What advice would Elliot give to business owners who want to establish their own brand? What is the first thing they need to consider? Why is it necessary that they do this as a first priority? What is the second thing that business owners need to have? Where does Elliot see the maximum effect of doing what he’s doing? What is one thing he wished he knew when he was just getting started? If he were to start all over again after knowing what he knows now, what would he do differently?

    Highlights of Lessons Learned:

    Getting Started

If you have a goal that you set out to achieve, it doesn’t matter how you get started. Because of social media, Elliot was able to get a picture of what he could do and what opportunities were available that weren’t necessarily mainstream at the time he was getting started.

    Marketing

Elliot believes that if you know what your brand is and you’re sure of who you are, then you’ll be able to dictate everything that you make and it will actually send out as your marketing message because it’s what you own, it’s a part of what makes you unique. Elliot’s motivation is the people he works with and those he works for. He finds value in being entrusted with peoples’ business ideas and dreams and to know that he has the ability to have dreams happen, which, for him, is very powerful.

    Things to Consider

Define your personality and your attitude. You have to have influence. Belief and value are where inference arrives from.

    Maximum effect

The effect of what Elliot does extends to both online and in person. The biggest thing is to be authentic. Authenticity is powerful and so essential to business. The best thing to do is to find your place of authenticity and then maximize on being authentic, maximize on your difference in that way you’ll be able to know that what you have is actually something that you built off of you and not what someone else is doing. If there is one thing that Elliot wishes he had known earlier on, it would be to set his price and charge what he’s actually worth.

Episode #168: Barbara Luliano | Main Steps to Boost Confidence May 27, 2020
    Show notes

Are you preoccupied with doubts and worries? Got stuck and can’t seem to move forward? Certified Business Confidence Coach and business expert, Barbara Iuliano, talks about how to win over our wavering thoughts and negative mentality.

    Key Questions Asked:

What would Barbara say to somebody who has not discovered that they are a strong gift with them? What were the difficulties she faced when transitioning from training programs to an actual business? What was her perception on getting a proper training for business before officially getting into it? How did she get her first client? What steps can she recommend business owners take in order to boost their confidence? How to do visualization effectively? Why should confidence go before anything else? Are there any pitfall that business owners must watch out for in boosting their confidence? What things could she have done more or less in the past? What is the perfect mindset for every business owners to succeed?

    Highlights of the Lessons Learned:

Self-confidence is the most significant trait to succeed. The “Inner belief of I can do it” is the key to realize whatever has been planned ahead. In order to win over the wavering thoughts, business owner needs to have a perspective that anything along the way can be very tough but he/she can surely successfully do it no matter what it takes. The main steps to boost self-confidence may vary depending on whatever aligns to an individual or a business owner, however the basics are: Be Present – this means that business owners need to affirm on what he has right now, in order to actually imagine the success that he/she wanted. With that, they will be able to affirm that “I was there, and now I am here”, which implies a success indeed. Gratefulness – always be thankful and recognize or appreciate so you will be able to concentrate on the positive feelings rather negative ones. Meditate and Visualize – business owner must develop clear goals and he must fill his/her imagination of the best or phenomenal results of the set goals. Stepping Out of Comfort Zone – means you will never know what you can do – if you never give a try. This will eliminate your fear and will make you eventually realize that everything is possible as long as there is perseverance and courage to do it. In coaching, coaches should visualize positive or extraordinary results and take these as a“mission” for them to be accountable to achieve the expected results. Self-confidence must be paired with courage. This means avoid perfectionism as this will hamper one’s thoughts.

    Business Success :

Internet marketing has been attested as one of the most effective ways to reach your target market. Barbara successfully marketed her services through:

Social media, e.g. Facebook Low-cost trainings, imparting knowledge Organic and paid marketing

The basic practices that every business owner should consider are:

Do MORE of your PMS (Promotion, Selling, and Marketing) Do LESS of perfectionism. Do not worry, clear doubts, and never get stuck in what you want.

Episode #163: Tatiana Becker | Tips Every Business Owner Should Know About May 15, 2020
    Show notes

How should you go about hiring or firing people? In this episode of Enlightened Entrepreneur Podcast, US-based recruiting expert, Tatiana Becker reveals a few insightful tips and advice on how to effectively find the right candidate to join your team.

    Key Questions Asked:

What challenges did Tatiana have had to overcome while making the transition from being an employee to running her own agency? What sort of mindset did you have to adopt when you’re transitioning? What advice would she give business owners who are in their first year of operations and are having slight difficulties? What is the actual process of recruitment? How do Tatiana and her team go about coming up with the ideal person to join the team? What advice would Tatiana give to business owners regarding compensation plan? What are some of the dangers of being very slow in responding inquiries especially when you’re doing it for the very first time? What mistakes does she see business owners are making when it comes to the hiring process? What criteria should they use? How does Tatiana market her business? If she were to start all over again, what would Tatiana do differently? What is her approach to letting people go? What tools does she use to run your virtual staff?

    Highlights of Lessons Learned:

    Tatiana’s Journey

Tatiana has always been an entrepreneurial person, but as far as running the staffing agency is concerned, the biggest change in her mindset revolves around becoming more aware of the landscape on the whole. Tatiana believes that having your own metric for success is crucial for every business owner.

    Expert’s Advice

Keep your head up because every business has difficulties in the first year, and if you don’t then you’ve just picked a business that is actually probably not very interesting. You need to start from day one knowing that you’re going to have to face trials and tribulations. When you hit bumps in the road you need to be able to re-steer your staff and they need to see that you have a really calculated way of going about it so that they totally get on-board.

    Process

Tatiana and her team find that they have the most success with clients that have a really clear picture of the type of person that they want to hire and the responsibilities that person is going to have, and also have the bandwidth to be able to respond to that person in a quick manner. Business owners and recruitment agencies need to know how to evaluate each candidate against themselves so that they can quickly make a decision. The most important thing is to understand what the person is going to be doing so that you can figure out the skill set that you will need in order to support that. Great fan of the site glassdoor.com which is an accurate place for a small company to find out what market rate is for a certain type of position in their area.

    Mistake

Some companies are a little too inflexible as far as that picture of the perfect person that they’re looking for.

    Criteria

The number one thing business owners should look at is metrics, ask the agency about what they see as success.

    Marketing

The most business that Tatiana and her recruitment team are getting come from clients recommending them to other potential clients, they also have a marketing expert that works with them. It’s also very important to show gratitude and to take care of the people that take care of you, that way you will easily get referrals without spending too much or anything at all.

    Suggestions

Tatiana recommends business owners to go into the thing that they really love and in the area where they really feel like they’re an expert. Another thing is that’s also important to consider is having the right people.

    On Letting Go

The most important thing is letting people know where they stand all the time and...
