Week 7 Sunday Night Freestyle: Lamar & Jacoby ball out, Wentz and Trubisky fall flat Oct 21, 2019
    Show notes

While Aaron Rodgers looks as good as he ever was, Sunday resulted in some star-making performances from some of the league's up-and-coming passers ready to establish themselves in that upper echelon of elite QBs.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson recap every game from the Week 7 slate, starting with the Dallas Cowboys' statement victory over the rival Philadelphia Eagles and what that means for both teams (and their coaches) going forward. They also hit Lamar Jackson's incredible performance in Seattle, how Jacoby Brissett's awesome play has the Colts 5-2 and why the Chicago Bears offense is in a free-fall.

Rams swap Peters for Ramsey and the MNF officiating nightmare Oct 16, 2019
    Show notes

If a controversial Monday night game between the Packers and Lions wasn't enough mid-week action for you, on Tuesday the Los Angeles Rams said, "hold my beer" and made a number of splashes in the form of two trades that massively reshaped their secondary and sent a key piece to an AFC contender.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson kick off this mid-week podcast with the trades that sent Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the LA Rams and Marcus Peters from the Rams to the Baltimore Ravens (1:00). What does this mean for the Rams, Ravens and Jaguars, who all got something different out of this defensive reshuffling.

Even though it feels like it happened a decade ago, the Detroit Lions fell to the Green Bay Packers on Monday night with the help of a last-second Mason Crosby field goal and a handful of controversial calls. Terez & Charles dissect the growing discontent with NFL officiating and give some love to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers who played quite well in the face of controversy (19:00)

In Dallas, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made some comments that head coach Jason Garrett, "would be very sought after if he was on the open market." Our experts dive into that statement and recall some conversations they've had with Cowboys sources who say that Garrett provides more value to Dallas than meets the eye (26:20).

Elsewhere in in the NFC, Drew Brees posted an Instagram video that showed him throwing a football and rumors have the Saints QB trying to return to action ahead of schedule following a thumb injury in September. The guys take a trip to Charles' Conspiracy Corner to dive into why Brees may be trying to get back onto the field earlier than expected (35:10).

Wrapping up the show, the guys talk about the intriguing storylines to watch out for in Saints/Bears (41:40) and have a very spirited argument about the toothless barbs being thrown between Doug Pederson and Jason Garrett ahead of Cowboys/Eagles this weekend (44:30).

Week 6 Sunday Night Freestyle: Seahawks and 49ers have that Super Bowl look Oct 14, 2019
    Show notes

Six weeks into the 2019 NFL season and the contenders are beginning to separate themselves from the rest of the league, especially in the ultra-competitive NFC West, where the 49ers remain undefeated and pulled off an impressive win in Los Angeles and the Seattle Seahawks also looked complete in Cleveland.

Terez Paylor and Charles Robinson recap all of the games from Week 6, including the Dallas Cowboys' embarrassing road loss to the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs' second home loss in a row, not to mention the pair of losses suffered by 2015 first and second overall picks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, who looked all but done done with the teams that drafted them.

Browns, 49ers beef on Monday night and exploring the Redskins' coaching options Oct 09, 2019
    Show notes

The most explosive part of the San Francisco 49ers 31-3 Monday night win over the Cleveland Browns wasn't the lopsided score, but the serious shade thrown between the two teams not typically considered rivals. San Francisco CB Richard Sherman called out Cleveland QB Baker Mayfield for not shaking his hand during the coin toss, which video evidence later rebuked. Nick Bosa also premiered a disrespectful sack celebration two years in the making, aimed at Mayfield and the 2017 meeting between Bosa's Ohio State Buckeyes and Mayfield's Oklahoma Sooners.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson start off the podcast breaking down the crazy game with major on- and off-the-field storylines that go beyond the 28-point beat-down (0:50).

The weekend's biggest story continues to be the Washington Redskins' firing of head coach Jay Gruden. Terez & Charles break down how owner Dan Snyder and GM Bruce Allen still remain unfit to operate a successful football team and some potential candidates for the job including a certain college coach from Alabama (16:30).

    For the final portion of the episode, our experts preview the matchups they're looking forward to most in Week 6 including Panthers/Buccaneers (37:30), Texans/Chiefs (40:00), Seahawks/Browns (43:45), Eagles/Vikings (45:30), Lions/Packers (48:10) and 49ers/Rams (51:40).

    Show notes

Week 5 was characterized by a number of games which featured absolutely dominant rushing performances. Bengals & Broncos in full panic mode, Bears without Trubisky and Week 5 preview Oct 02, 2019
    Show notes

Monday night's 27-3 walloping at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed what we were all thinking this offseason: the Cincinnati Bengals are bad.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open the mid-week podcast on the Bungles, A.J. Green's extended injury and the likelihood that Green and quarterback Andy Dalton could be on new teams as soon as the trade deadline, in Green's case (2:20). A certain six-time NFL champion in the Boston area is surely looking for a fresh body in the receiver room.

From one failing franchise to another, the guys transition to the 0-4 Denver Broncos (8:00). A what point is John Elway to blame for the constant, unsuccessful carousel of bad coaches and bad quarterbacks and when will he be held accountable?

The brewing quarterback drama in D.C. is still top of mind for Terez, who analyzed Washington's loss to the Giants and has some thoughts on why Dwayne Haskins failed in his first showing (17:45).

The Chicago Bears play the Oakland Raiders in London this weekend and the game is not without major storylines on both sides of the ball (24:10). How will the Bears do without QB Mitchell Trubisky? How many sacks will Khalil Mack get in his revenge game vs. his former Raiders? When will it be the last straw between the NFL and Vontaze Burfict?

Wrapping up the show, our experts discuss a trio of key Week 5 games: Rams/Seahawks (33:15), Buccaneers/Saints (38:15) and Packers/Cowboys (45:00). Can the Rams bounce back after their shootout loss to the Bucs? Could this be the opportunity for Jameis Winston to finally prove himself and secure a long-term deal in Tampa? Will Dallas or Green Bay prove themselves as the team to beat in the NFC?

Week 4 Sunday Night Freestyle: Browns bounce back, respectable losses for Detroit & Buffalo Sep 30, 2019
    Show notes

Last week on this podcast, Freddie Kitchens was in the crosshairs as the Browns struggled to put up points in a home loss to the Rams. This week was a different story.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson recap Week 4 of the NFL slate that saw the Browns put up an offensive showcase against the division rival Ravens and the Saints eke out their second straight win without Drew Brees against the previously unbeaten Dallas Cowboys.

Elsewhere in the NFL, the Lions and Bills were handed honorable losses against Kansas City and New England, respectively. Were these losses proof that Detroit and Buffalo were frauds all along, or a sign they should be taken seriously.

Listen as Terez & Charles break down every Week 4 game.

Cam out long-term, TB12 tweets and when will Dwayne Haskins get the start? Sep 25, 2019
    Show notes

Week 3 in the NFL saw a pair of exciting starts from young, unproven quarterbacks in Giants rookie Daniel Jones and Panthers second-year passer Kyle Allen. The Chicago Bears prime-time drubbing of the Washington Redskins on Monday has many asking when we'll see a third name on that list: Dwayne Haskins.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open the show on that Monday night blowout and when they expect to see the former Buckeye passer get the start in Jay Gruden's offense (0:35).

Back to Kyle Allen, news of Cam Newton's Lisfranc injury means he could be out significantly longer than initially predicted, meaning the Panthers will get a significant look at the young passer. Could Allen save head coach Ron Rivera's job? If a coaching change is made, would new owner David Tepper stick with GM Marty Hurney? Terez & Charles dive into the Carolina Panther's palace intrigue from multiple angles (13:45).

Last Thursday night's unremarkable game between the Jaguars and Titans had one interesting footnote: a tweet from Tom Brady complaining about "too many penalties." Our experts note how the league responded...fast (25:00).

After a borderline-NSFW conversation about naming rights and a certain online porn company putting in a bid for the Heat's stadium in Miami (29:20), Terez & Charles preview their most anticipated Week 4 games in Cowboys/Saints, Packers/Eagles, Bills/Patriots and Browns/Ravens (33:30).

Week 3 Sunday Night Freestyle: Rough home loss puts Kitchens' play-calling in question Sep 23, 2019
    Show notes

Sunday night's marquee matchup between the NFC champion Los Angeles Rams and upstart AFC North Cleveland Browns was a disappointing prime-time outing for head coach Freddie Kitchens. Terez Paylor and Charles Robinson open the show scrutinizing some of the head-scratching plays called in the latter half of the game as many in north Ohio have to be wondering if they made the right decision hiring the first-time head coach. It doesn't get any easier for the Browns, their next two games are agains the Ravens and 49ers.

Terez and Charles also run through the remainder if the Week 3 NFL slate including the Giants' come-back win in Tampa behind rookie QB Daniel Jones, the Lamar Jackson/Patrick Mahomes duel in Kansas City, the Saints' impressive road win in Seattle and a few desperate teams like the Jets, Broncos, Dolphins and Raiders continuing their downward trends.

Moving forward in an NFL without Ben, Brees, Eli and Cam Sep 18, 2019
    Show notes

Week 3 of the 2019 NFL season will continue without four of the major quarterback pillars of the last decade. As a result of either benching or injury, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Cam Newton will all be sitting out at least this week and in Big Ben's case, the entire season.

Starting with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson try to piece together the picture of a radically different NFL without these quarterbacks (0:45). The Steelers at least are showing some confidence in backup Mason Rudolph as they also traded their 2020 first round pick to the Miami Dolphins for CB Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Speaking of star corners, Jacksonville cornerback Jalen Ramsey requested a trade from the Jaguars. Terez & Charles discuss a few of the teams who could be in the market for the young and outspoken defensive back (4:55).

In New York, the Giants officially passed the torch from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones and our experts assert that this is a very good sign about Jones' development (16:50).

Moving to New Orleans, Charles & Terez wonder if Drew Brees' extended absense is the perfect opportunity for the Saints to try out Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill at quarterback. Is Brees' heir apparent one of these two young passers or someone else (22:15).

Staying in the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers are now without Cam Newton for an extended period of time, which could be a very bad sign for the team, its coaching staff and personnel staff (27:35).

Wrapping up the podcast, Terez & Charles discuss how new coaches have been struggling (32:45), investigate which teams are having the worst season so far (37:00) and check in on presumptive top 5 picks in next year's draft, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert (45:20).
