Week 12 Sunday Night Freestyle: Is this the beginning of the end for Jason Garrett? Nov 25, 2019
    Show notes

Nine points. A number of special teams miscues. A failure to get a statement win on a national stage. Terez Paylor and Charles Robinson open the Week 12 Sunday night freestyle with the Dallas Cowboys' 13-9 loss to the New England Patriots, Jerry Jones' ominous quotes following the game and a question we always seem to ask about Dallas multiple times per year: could this be Jason Garrett's final season as the Cowboys head coach? Charles explains why it could be different this time. (0:20)

Next, the guys dive into the San Francisco 49ers' blowout win over the Green Bay Packers, marvel at the 49ers defense and the Packers' 3rd down ineptitude. (9:30)

Later, our experts recap the Carolina Panthers' heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints (13:25), the Eagles' troubling loss to the Seahawks (16:25) and another classic Jameis Winston game full of crazy ups and ridiculous lows (22:20).

They spend the rest of the podcast recapping the rest of the action from Sunday (and Thursday) of Week 12.

The NFL's "trojan horse" against Kaepernick, AB apologizes & is this the end for Philip Rivers? Nov 20, 2019
    Show notes

Last week's strangely-timed Colin Kaepernick news did not end with his workout on Saturday. Hidden legal revelations from the NFL's workout of the embattled former quarterback are the main story on this episode, but first Terez Paylor and Charles Robinson react to the Los Angeles Chargers' 17-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Mexico City on Monday night.

Was Philip Rivers' awful 4 INT game a sign that his career is drawing to a close sooner, rather than later? How about those field conditions on a turf that was deemed too unsafe to play on only a year ago? Did this win prove that the Chiefs have solved their defensive woes? The guys look at the game from all those angles. (0:30)

Next, Charles dives into some surprising details he learned from the league's workout of Colin Kaepernick over the weekend in Atlanta. After reading through the NFL's liability waiver that Kaepernick's team took issue with, he reveals the sly legal moves the league was trying to pull over the former 49er. (11:15)

From one unemployed league star to another, Antonio Brown apologized to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft on Instagram on Tuesday. Our experts discuss where AB stands in his grievance against New England and the chance that he could return to the Pats later this season (24:55).

Finally, Chares & Terez wrap up the show previewing three of they key matchups of Week 12: Indianapolis @ Houston (31:30), Dallas @ New England (34:35), and Green Bay @ San Francisco (39:10).

Week 11 Sunday Night Freestyle: Ugly Trubisky-Goff matchup has L.A. and Chicago wondering what's next Nov 18, 2019
    Show notes

An ugly Sunday night matchup between the Bears and Rams had America searching for the remote control and their Chicago and Los Angeles fanbases pulling their hair out.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open the Sunday night freestyle edition of the podcast with the unsightly but illuminating matchup between two of last year's NFC division winners and the last two coach of the year winners (0:15). While the Bears likely have an opportunity to move on from Mitchell Trubisky in the next couple years, the Rams owe Jared Goff $110m guaranteed over the next four years.

Later in the show, the guys address the rest of the games from Week 11 including the Baltimore Ravens blowout win over the Houston Texans (9:10), how the Arizona Cardinals have something special in Kyler Murray (16:00), if Dak Prescott should be in the MVP conversation (25:20) and what would happen if the Atlanta Falcons put together a respectable second-half (33:00).

Of course, they close out the show with the Thursday night matchup between the Steelers and Browns which resulted in the now-infamous fight between Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph (42:05).

    NFL's no-lose Kaepernick situation, Seahawks-49ers & Week 11 preview Nov 13, 2019
    Show notes

Breaking news waits for no man, particularly the two men who host the Yahoo Sports NFL Podcast.

Minutes before they began taping the podcast, news broke that the league would be conducting a workout for former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick this Saturday for all 32 teams to attend. Charles Robinson & Terez Paylor report on how this came together, if it's legit and why it's a "no-lose" scenario for the NFL who has been looking to put this story to bed for three years (0:50).

Sticking with the 49ers, how about that Monday night game between San Francisco and Seattle? The guys recap the fallout from the blockbuster game of the season, if the 49ers have been figured out and Jadeveon Clowney is poised to go on a run that might make him the highest paid defensive lineman ever (10:30).

Later in the show, Charles brings up an image that had been going around Twitter on Tuesday of all 32 teams' remaining strength of schedule. They run through the 5 teams with the easiest and hardest slates and handicap how that might affect the playoffs, coach firings and draft order with seven weeks to go (27:50).

Finally, the guys preview the three games they're most looking forward to this weekend in Texans/Ravens, Saints/Buccaneers and Patriots/Eagles (44:10).

Week 10 Sunday Night Freestyle: Previews of playoff doom for the Chiefs and Cowboys Nov 11, 2019
    Show notes

Now that we're in November, it's time for much of the league to start looking towards the draft (lookin' at you, Cincinnati) and time for the cream of the crop to start thinking about January.

On this weekend's Sunday Night Freestyle edition of the podcast, Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open the show with two perennial playoff teams, the Dallas Cowboys & Kansas City Chiefs who lost in fashions likely to portend their doom this January. Fans of these teams may be panicking at the present moment, and maybe they should as yet again, the Chiefs & Cowboys are showing signs that they're talented, but don't necessarily have what it takes to succeed beyond a game or two in January.

After discussing those two losses, Terez & Charles recap the rest of the Week 10 games including the Miami Dolphins' surprising second win, a dominant Green Bay team and Oakland's Thursday night win and very favorable second-half schedule.

Black cats, Cam on ice and the Chargers' 'f**king bulls**t' London rumors Nov 06, 2019
    Show notes

Halloween lasted a few days into November and gifted us an iconic Monday Night Football moment just in time for the 100th episode of the Yahoo Sports NFL Podcast.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open this mid-week podcast with the Dallas Cowboys 37-18 win over the New York Giants that many will attribute to a black cat causing a stoppage in play in the 2nd quarter (2:15).

Next, the guys react to the news that Cam Newton has been placed on the IR for the rest of the season (6:00). Now that the Carolina Panthers have the opportunity to get an extended look at Kyle Allen, will they move Cam in the offseason and who are the leading candidates?

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that Nick Foles would return to this week as the starting quarterback (15:00). Are the Jags about to mess up the chemistry they've established between Gardner Minshew, Leonard Fournette and D.J. Chark?

On Monday night, The Athletic published a story that the NFL & the Los Angeles Chargers were discussing possibly moving the franchise to London, which owner Dean Spanos vehemently denied in a curse-laden statement on Tuesday morning. Charles takes us into his Conspiracy Corner to explain how rival owners Stan Kroenke and Jerry Jones are upset at Spanos and may have constructed the London narrative to fire a shot across the bough of the underperforming Chargers (18:40).

Later, the guys talk about where the league is after 9 weeks and award some half-way coach of the year, rookie of the year and MVP trophies (27:50)

To wrap up the show, Charles & Terez answer a boatload of listener questions on the occasion of the 100th episode and share some stories about their early days as reporters (40:25).

Week 9 Sunday Night Freestyle: Lamar Jackson is making every team regret not drafting him Nov 04, 2019
    Show notes

After the Baltimore Ravens' 37-20 victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots, there are no more doubts that Lamar Jackson is one of the league's elite young QBs. So much for the scouts that thought he should play WR. Jackson paired 163 yards and 1 TD passing with another 61 yards and 2 TDs on the ground in a multi-faceted performance that vaulted him into the MVP conversation. Remember that only 18 months ago, Jackson was selected with the 32nd overall pick in the draft, meaning that every team in the league passed over him once. How many of them are regretting that now?

Terez Paylor and Charles Robinson break down every game from the Week 9 slate, starting with Baltimore's impressive win over New England, the Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes-less win over a potentially playoff-bound Minnesota Vikings team and Seattle's shootout win in OT over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    Show notes

The 2019 NFL trade deadline came and went without much actual fanfare. The biggest storyline coming out of the day was the trade a team didn't make.

Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson open the show with the New York Jets and their highly publicised refusal to trade safety Jamal Adams to the Dallas Cowboys. They also touch on the previous day's decision to trade defensive tackle Leonard Williams across the building to the New York Giants (2:00).

They also hit on the Los Angeles Rams salary-dump trade of Aqib Talib to the Miami Dolphins (12:10), how the Cleveland Browns are irate at the Washington Redskins for not trading Trent Williams (16:00) and how Cowboys, Chiefs and Eagles fans should feel after their teams declined to make major moves (24:35).

Later in the show, Terez & Charles touch on the NCAA's decision to allow players to profit off of their likeness and how it will affect their favorite video game franchise, EA's NCAA Football (38:30).

Sanu and Sanders on the move as trade season heats up Oct 23, 2019
    Show notes

With less than a week to go before the NFL trade deadline, Tuesday saw a pair of wide receivers from struggling teams land with contenders.

Before hitting the news of the Mohamed Sanu and Emmanuel Sanders trades, Terez Paylor & Charles Robinson briefly touch on the New York Jets' loss to the New England Patriots and the media controversy in the Big Apple after ESPN aired sideline footage of a mic'd up Sam Darnold confiding that he "[saw] ghosts" in the Pats' D (0:35).

Sticking with the Pats, Terez & Charles analyze the Sanu trade and why it's beneficial for both sides (9:00) before hitting the Denver Broncos trading Sanders to the San Francisco 49ers (13:00). After discussing those trades in more detail, they take a look at the overall trade landscape and discuss some of the teams that could be buyers or sellers in the final week including the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts (17:00).

One team that would like to get better but doesn't have the draft assets is the Chicago Bears. The guys revisit their thoughts on Mitchell Trubisky from Sunday night's episode and after Charles checked in with some sources and Terez watched the all-22 of the Bears' loss to the Saints (28:10).

    Finally, Charles & Terez wrap up the show previewing: Cardinals/Saints (33:10), Eagles/Bills (37:50), Panthers/49ers (41:50), Browns/Patriots (45:30) and Packers/Chiefs (49:30).
