Plus: Brent looks up weird pornography... and a friend of the podcast returns!

The guys also drop a hint for next week's movie. Check on Facebook or Twitter on Monday for the reveal!

It's time to celebrate podcast heritage and a very Happy Canada Day to you all! On this very special episode, the guys welcome back Patron Ben Wandio to discuss the super Canadian comedy film Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy. This is not QUITE the usual episode as all three hosts very much enjoyed this movie so keep that in mind as you hear them talk about the legacy of the Kids being too-cool-for-the-room comedy, Mark McKinney evoking Lorne Michaels AND Donald Trump, Scott Thompson doing some very subversive, dark material about repressed sexual feelings, Bruce having the best "lady voice" and much more. From Justin to Kelly Jun 24, 2021

Show notes

Listeners Choice Month comes to an end with the final pick as listener Gabe has given them one of Nathan's favourite genres - the musical. Yes, it's the 2003 contractually-obligated smash hit From Justin to Kelly. The guys break it all down and talk about the least memorable musical numbers in human existence, beach-beds, the evolution of text messaging, the massive amount of "filler" (in an 81-minute movie), a needlessly convoluted hoverboard competition, Nathan analyzes the art of "soap opera name-dropping" and much more. Plus: WILL SOMEONE JUST HAVE A REAL CONVERSATION ALREADY!?

Show notes

Listeners Choice Month rolls on with the Vin Diesel-less sequel, xXx: State of the Union starring Ice Cube. Joining the guys is extreme sports expert Jerika, who is a tad dismayed to discover the lack of extreme sports in this particular installment. There is plenty to talk about though like a debate on Ice Cube as a hyper-kinetic action hero, the wildest fiddle band of all-time, TV dinners used to simulate body heat, the World War IV references (did WW3 already happen in the world of this movie?), the haunting and relevant plot surrounding insurrectionists at the US Capitol and much more.

Listeners Choice comes to a close next week with the contractually-obligated musical dud, From Justin to Kelly.

Show notes

It's time for the Small-Screen Shameful of Listeners Choice Month... brace yourselves.

Listeners Choice Month continues with discussion of a Small-Screen Shameful (a film that never made it to the big screen) in the Pureflix film The Encounter starring... yes... Steve "Sting" Borden. The regular guest for wrasslin'-themed episodes, Ryan Gilbert, comes back to help the guys dissect a movie that is essentially a number of conversations in one location. It also stars a very rude and love-starved Jesus and the guys talk about the movie starting like a horror film set-up, inconsistent superpowers, how the ending LITERALLY spells it out for the viewers and much more. Plus: Nathan proves that he's been everywhere.

Listeners Choice continues next week with discussion of the Vin Diesel-less sequel, xXx: State of the Union.

3 Ninjas Jun 03, 2021

Show notes

Ai-yah! Ai-yah! Ai-yah!

Listeners Choice Month begins with a rather digestible slice of 90s cheese as Nathan and Brendan discuss the 1992 hit 3 Ninjas! They discuss this kids movie alarmingly featuring a scene where someone holds a gun to a child's head, the villain of the film employing the most worthless ninjas ever, terribly obvious stunt doubles, the movie setting up toilet humour and not delivering, the stoner bruh kidnappers and more. Plus: Nathan waxes philosophical about a classic movie theme song.

Listeners Choice continues next week with a Small-Screen Shameful in the form of The Encounter starring Steve "Sting" Borden.

The guys break the movie down and talk about how the movie manages to waste Jeffrey Combs and Udo Kier in nothing roles, the BLATANT rip-offs of Ringu/The Ring, the screenwriter seemingly running out of ideas for things that people can fear, the movie's shallow understanding of how computers and the internet work and much more. Plus: WHY OH WHY do people keep going onto this killer website!? And why did the guys talk about Louie Anderson for like 10 minutes?

Next week: Listeners Choice Month begins with the 1992 kiddie action/comedy - 3 Ninjas

Show notes

This week, the guys welcome back Mariah Lirette to talk about a movie she picked for the show after taking the Mraovich Challenge - White Chicks, a film famously described as "up there with Titanic." The gang talk about giant Russians ice cream vendors, topical Winona Ryder jokes, the ease in which the Wayans change in and out of some very complicated 'white chick' suits, Terry Crews taking a very unfortunate turn late in the film and much more. Plus: they figure out that the character stupidity may revolve around eye infections.
