Snickers before lunch? Cupcakes before dinner? Fast food after breakfast?

Episode 71: Learn How to Trade Your Old Thought Loops for New Ones May 09, 2017
    Show notes

    Thought loops podcast 71

If you’re like me and most of the people I work with privately and in my groups, you have certain thoughts that are your favorites.

These thoughts go around and around in your mind, playing as often as the Top 10 songs on your local radio station.

The problem is, that many of these thought loops don’t help you. In fact, many of them keep you stuck and repeating old harmful patterns over and over.

Today in your coaching session we’re going to take a close look at your thought loops.

We’ll talk about what a thought loop actually is, how to know whether it helps or it hurts you, and why these loops are SO hard to break out of.

Of course, we will also talk about the way out: how to wake up to your own thought loops and decide what stays and what gets ditched, and why.

Episode 70: Why Do I Keep Saying “Screw It!”? May 02, 2017
    Show notes

    Screw it podcast 70

Welcome back! I hope you are enjoying these coaching sessions as much as I am.

Have you ever reached the point in your eating and weight loss journey, where things aren’t going well, and you say: “The heck with it!”

Or, “I just can’t do this!” Or, “I’ll just start tomorrow.” Or, “Something must be wrong with me.”

All these thoughts have one big thing in common: they stop you from moving forward and take you totally off track. They keep you stuck in a pattern of failure.

All are versions of screw it!

These are habitual negative ways of thinking when things don’t go as planned. And they all prevent you from achieving what you want most: peaceful eating and, for many of you, weight loss as well.

So today, I’m going to coach you about this common thought of screw it. We’ll talk about when it comes up, what it might sound like in your own mind, why you think it at all, and, finally, how to stop saying, “Who cares!” and what to think instead.

I will help you stop what constantly derails you: your seemingly innocent thoughts.

I will see you in the session!

    Show notes

    Start podcast 69

Do you love these coaching sessions but don’t exactly know where to start?

Here is your answer: You start right here. You start with getting really clear on what your problem is. Define it.

Episode 1: The Difference Between Emotional Eating, Binge Eating and Compulsive Overeating

You’d be amazed at how many clients over-exaggerate and generalize their problems. I want the facts, just the facts.

Once you’ve done that, I want you to get crystal clear on what’s gone wrong for you in the past. If you’re not sure, you’ll be doomed to repeating your mistakes over and over again. And we both know how useful that is!

Episode 2: Clearing Your Path to Weight Loss Success!

Click here to get a downloadable copy of my book, Clearing Your Path to Permanent Weight Loss, so you can begin to figure this out. It’s free for my listeners.

And then, create your project. Project YOU.

Episode 68: Why You Need to Take a Leap of Faith Apr 18, 2017
    Show notes

    Leap of faith podcast 68

Whether you want to lose weight or stop bingeing, you need to do something differently than what you’ve always done.

And when you try to do something differently, you come up against your thinking.

What if this doesn’t work? What if I just can’t do it? What if I’m different?

What do you do now that you’ve come up against these roadblocks?

There is no proof that something you’ve never done before will work. Yet if you don’t take different actions, you’ll keep doing what you’ve always done. And you know what result that gives you, right?

So the answer is to do what you’ve never done.

    How?

By taking a leap of faith. By making an educated choice to do something that is different and uncomfortable and has the potential to take you to the results you dream of.

How do you create a new practice of taking a leap of faith to help you in your journey to lose weight and stop bingeing?

Episode 67: Your Weight and Your Relationship Apr 11, 2017
    Show notes

    Relationship podcast 67

If you’ve ever been romantically involved with someone, and you struggle with your eating and your weight, this coaching session is for you.

What effect does your weight have on your relationship? And what effect does your relationship have on your eating and your weight?

The two seem so related, don’t they? You may eat when you fight with your partner, or when you feel angry with them, as if to say: this will show you!

And yet at the end of the day, when you eat too much food, the only one who suffers is you.

It’s time to learn to take care of yourself no matter how your intimate relationships are going.

Take responsibility for eating well no matter what. Learn to take charge of your own happiness, and you’ll find that no matter what your partner does, it shouldn’t and won’t affect your weight.

Does this sound like something you might need to hear? Relationships are SO important. But it all starts with your relationship with yourself.

Join me as we explore the connection between your relationship and your weight.

Episode 66: Why Taking a Pause in Your Weight Loss is Good, But Why It’s Not Good to Stop Apr 04, 2017
    Show notes

    Pause podcast 66

Have you ever made a plan to eat differently, and then failed? Failure in my eyes may be different from how you see failure in yourself.

To me, making a mistake is not a failure. But making a mistake and falling down and not getting back up is the true definition of failure.

What I’d like to coach you about today is learning how to create a pause instead of a stop.

A pause where you evaluate what’s going on and what you might need to adjust to move on.

And moving on is definitely part of the picture.

I think one of the most common mistakes my clients make is falling down and staying down.

Do you do this? It sure takes a big toll on you and how you see yourself. And it doesn’t have to be this way.

Episode 65: Did You Just Overeat? How to Compensate Without Punishing Yourself Mar 28, 2017
    Show notes

    Overeat podcast 65

We all overeat sometimes, especially on our way toward learning how to eat naturally.

The important thing to look at when you DO overeat is what you do immediately after.

Do you punish yourself? Do you restrict your eating to ‘make up’ for what you just overate?

You may very well be sabotaging yourself without realizing it!

Restricting your eating following an overeating episode messes with your survival instincts.

It reinforces a habit that is exactly what you want to stop doing!

Episode 64: How to Stop Making the Same Mistakes Mar 21, 2017
    Show notes

    Mistakes podcast 64

Do you keep making the same eating mistakes? Over and over again?

You know how bad it feels. You see what you’re doing. You see it happening. It’s almost like watching a movie, starring you.

And you feel helpless to step in and make a change.

Here’s how to do it. Here is the process you’ll take once you understand how change unfolds.

    From unaware.

    To aware but without responsibility.

From taking responsibility yet still doing what you don’t want to be doing.

    And then to, voila, change!

When you see things differently, you will act differently.

Click here for a copy of the poem I love that so beautifully illustrates this concept.

Which chapter do you see yourself in? Does it help to know what’s next?

Episode 63: Why You Don’t Look in a Full-Length Mirror – and Why You Should Mar 14, 2017
    Show notes

    Full-Length Mirror podcast 63

Do you own a full-length mirror? If you do, do you actually use it?

If you have extra weight you wish you didn’t have, I’ll bet you avoid seeing the reality of how your body looks right now.

When your vision of yourself is a bit fuzzy, you know that you’re not where you want to be, but you may avoid seeing exactly how off track you’ve gotten.

Then one day, you may be shopping for clothes, and may be unable to avoid a mirror. Full-length.

And that is when your reality meets your vision in your head and everything busts loose. Figuratively speaking, of course.

I want you to be able to see yourself no matter what you weigh.

Seeing and even accepting your body today is the key to a different body in the future. I promise.

Let me coach you and show you how to deal with how you look. All of you.
