    3.34 When was the Exodus? Part 2 Jun 28, 2018

    In this episode, the second of two, I dive deeper into the theories that attempt to date the Exodus. First, I take a look at the archaeological evidence that researchers have offered in an attempt to place the events in a timeline, focusing on various cities in Canaan.     3.32 The New Kingdom Part 3; Thutmose III Jun 14, 2018

    In this episode, I cover Thutmose the 3rd, whole ruled ancient Egypt in from about 1479 to 1425 BC. According to Rabbinical Judaism, this is the period when the Exodus occurred. Most historians consider him to be a great military leader, having expanded the empire to the largest extent seen up to that period. Next week, I’ll continue the history of the Egyptian New Kingdom.     3.31 The New Kingdom Part 2 Jun 07, 2018

    In this episode, I cover the first next three rulers of the New Kingdom, Thutmose the 1st and 2nd, as well as Queen Hatshepsut. But, Thutmose the 3rd was also on the throne at the time, but he was too young to rule. These are essentially the year 1506 through 1458 BC, so just before the proposed time of the Exodus.     In this episode, I cover the last couple of rulers from both the Hyksos and the Egyptian 17th Dynasties. Knowledge of the life and times of both groups are necessary to understand the New Kingdom. I then get started on the first ruler of the New Kingdom, Amenhotep the 1st, who died around the time that it’s believed Moses was exiled to Midian.     In this episode, I walk through the history of the Middle Kingdom from about 1806 to 1550 BC. This was the most probable period when the Israelites lived in exile in Egypt. I also touch on the several concurrent dynasties of the period, including the Hyksos. These immigrants from Canaan seem extremely familiar. Listen to find out why.     3.27 Egyptian Middle Kingdom Pt. 2 May 10, 2018

    In this episode, I walk through the history of the Middle Kingdom from about 1914 to 1806 BC. It was sometime during this period where Joseph was sold into Egyptian slavery, sent to prison, released, and became the vizier of Egypt. Probably towards the end of the period, his bothers make their multiple trips to the kingdom, and finally his father, Jacob, and the rest of his family arrived there. The beginning of the 400 or so year exile. And, this episode walks through the country he would have experienced. Next week, I’ll continue the history of the Middle Kingdom.
