    3.44 The 3rd Intermediate Period Part 2: The 22nd Dynasty Sep 06, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I cover the 22nd Dynasty’s reign during the 3rd Intermediate Period. This is the period from about 945 to 720 BC. There were sporadic interactions with the Hebrews in Canaan during this period, some of which merited brief mentions in the Old Testament. But, towards the end of the dynasty, the rulers of Lower Egypt would fall to the former vassal state of Kush, aka Nubia. Listen to learn how all of this unfolded. After listening, let me know what you think.

3.43 The Transition from the New Kingdom to the 3rd Intermediate Period Aug 30, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I wrap up the New Kingdom, covering Ramses 10 and 11. And when 11 died, so did the New Kingdom, plunging the declining country into the 3rd Intermediate Period. This period begins with the 21st Dynasty, and I manage to make it through these leaders and into the 22nd. Two of these rulers, one from the 21st and the other from the 22nd, are potentially mentioned in the Old Testament. Listen to find out the roles they played. After listening, let me know what you think.

    3.42 The New Kingdom Part 11: Setnakhte, Ramses 3-9 Aug 23, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I continue working my way through the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, beginning in the 20th Dynasty. And, I make it from Pharaoh Setnakhte then Ramses the 3rd through Ramses the 9th. So, the period of 1189 to 1111 BC. I also cover the apparently self-made Egyptian governor of Canaan, a man known as Irsu. Next week, I’ll finish the 20th Dynasty and begin the 21st. After listening, let me know what you think.

3.41 The New Kingdom Part 10: Merneptah, Seti II, Siptah, Queen Twosret Aug 16, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I continue working my way through the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, the remaining Pharaohs of the 19th Dynasty: Merneptah, Seti II, Amenmesse, Siptah, and Queen Twosret. So, the period of 1213 to 1189 BC. These rulers, while none reigned for any great period, did have a lasting impression of the history of Egypt. I also dive into a foreign leader who would rise to great power in Egypt, only to have a rapid fall leading to his execution. Next week, I’ll press the accelerator as I begin the history of the 20th Dynasty. After listening, let me know what you think.

3.40 The New Kingdom Part 9: Ramesses II Aug 09, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I continue working my way through the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, covering the domestic policy and accomplishments of Ramesses the 2nd. Ramesses the Great ruled between 1279 and 1213 BC. He built many temples, palaces, and other structures, but unfortunately, few have stood the test of time. Listen to learn the surprises his mummy revealed. Next week, I’ll continue the history of Ramesses, including his potential role in the Exodus. After listening, let me know what you think.

3.39 The New Kingdom Part 8: Seti the 1st and Ramesses the 2nd Aug 02, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I continue working my way through the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, covering Pharaohs Seti the 1st and Ramesses the 2nd. This father and son duo ruled between 1290 and 1213 BC. While covering the entire reign of Seti, time permits me to only cover the foreign exploits of Rameses. And this included many legendary military campaigns in Canaan. Next week, I’ll continue the history of Ramesses, including his potential role in the Exodus. After listening, let me know what you think.

    3.38 The New Kingdom Part 7 Jul 26, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, I continue working my way through the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, covering Pharaohs Ay, Horemheb, and Ramesses the 1st, spanning the years 1323 through 1290 BC. Which also marks the transition from the 18th to the 19th Dynasty. Depending on the Exodus date you choose to subscribe to, this was either after the 40 years of wandering, or just before the Exodus. And, the Egyptian Empire controlled much of Canaan at this time, so either way, the Pharaoh influenced the lives of the Israelites. Next week, I’ll continue the history of the New Kingdom. After listening, let me know what you think.

    Show notes

In this episode, I continue working my way through the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, covering Pharaohs Smenkhkare, Neferneferuaten, and one of the most famous Kings, and that is Tut. Which is ironic considering that not long after his death, the Egyptians consciously tried to forget him. They reigned between 1335 and 1323 BC. Depending on the Exodus date you choose to believe, this was either just after the 40 years of wandering, or just before the Exodus. And, the Egyptian Empire controlled much of Canaan at this time, so either way, the Pharaoh influenced the lives of the Israelites. Next week, I’ll continue the history of the New Kingdom.
