84: The Walking Dead #147; Sex Criminals #13 Oct 16, 2015

Show notes

The Walking Dead and Sex Criminals... two great books, two very different sensibilities. This week Under the Comic Covers blends the two for a delicious pairing of stress and wtf?. We also talk about Skottie Young's new book, I Hate Fairyland... a fun murderous romp through a magical and adorable, yet incredibly maddening, land of make believe.

83: Copperhead #10; Nailbiter #16 Oct 09, 2015

Show notes

Serial killers, space westerns, and 80's nostalgia mixed with a tinge of sci-fi... all of this and more in this weeks episode of Under the Comic Covers.

We start the show with the final issue of the second arc of Copperhead, leaving us dangling by our toes in this classic cliffhanger of an ending. From there we go with an early Halloween delight, Nailbiter #16; starting off a new arc with some surprising turns. And finally, we offer a Top of the Stack that managed to become an upcoming regular book for us to cover in the middle of the show... Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang's Paper Girls.

80: Manifest Destiny #17; Rat Queens #12; Sex Criminals #12 Sep 18, 2015

Show notes

This week, Under the Comic Covers dips its toes into a little bit of horror, a smidgen of mystical smidgens, and a whole lots of weird sexy stuff. First we discuss Manifest Destiny #17, possibly the most intense and visceral issue of the series thus far. Then we join Rat Queens #12 as they contiune on their quest (we think it's to see Hannah's father, but we kinda get confused a bit). Finally, Sex Criminals #12 picks up where we left off... and I can't really say much more than that regarding this particularly odd and sexually adventurous issue of our favorite odd and sexually adventurous book.

Mr. Blahg chooses the new Rick Remender and Sean Murphy book from Image Comics, Tokyo Ghost as his Top of the Stack selection; and as always, we answer your emails.

76: The Walking Dead #145 Aug 12, 2015

Show notes

This week, Under the Comic Covers streamlines this episode in discussing The Walking Dead #145: Blood For Blood. Due to Mr. B's vacation plans, we don't answer any letters, don't cover any news, don't offer up any new titles in Top of the Stack, and we don't even deliver our usual top 3 for the issue... instead, we announce the winner of our latest contest to win a signed copy of the variant cover of CHEW #50 and have a simple discussion of what is a very somber, yet spectacular, issue of one of our favorite titles.

We hope you enjoy, and we will return to our regular ol' routine next week. Aloha!

75: Nailbiter #15 Aug 07, 2015

Show notes

This week, Under the Comic Covers delves into the mysteries and the mayhem of Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson's Nailbiter #15 from Image Comics. We get an answer to a long awaited question, as well as a fine helping of new questions and intrigue.

As always, we answer your letters... sadly, we have no new books to discuss in Top of the Stack, but we will always be keeping our eyes open for new material to share with all of you.
