Susan L. Combs is the founder of Pancakes for Roger, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving those who have served our nation. The non-profit emerged from a humble request by Susan's father, the late Major General Roger E Combs, during his Hospice care. His simple wish for pancakes sparked a movement, which became a book and a keynote address. When Susan's not running her business or mentoring others, you can find her at her beloved CrossFit gym.

    Pancakes For Roger:

Empowering Veterans. Strengthening Communities. Our mission is clear…to create pathways to improve the lives of veterans and their communities. Through partnerships with 501(c)(3) organizations and initiatives tailored to Veterans' needs, we strive to make a meaningful difference in their lives. Pancakes for Roger, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving those who have served our nation.

We believe in forging connections and providing opportunities to address the unique challenges facing Veterans during and after their service.

    About Roger…

Pancakes For Roger, the book, the movement, and the organization, were all born out of Major General Roger E. Combs's request for pancakes while he was coming to the end of his life with Agent Orange-related throat cancer.

    Ashton August:

Hi there! My name is Ashton. Thanks for stopping by. I am a writer and author, entrepreneur and consultant in the wellness space, yoga and meditation guide. I am obsessed with animals (dogs and donkeys especially) and can't wait to one day own a farm where all my rescues can live happily ever after. Being badly bullied in school led to self-worthiness issues, and I attached accomplishment with worth. The more I did, the more worthy I would become. (Spoiler alert: we don't 'achieve' worthiness – we simply are – it's innate). So, I earned my MFA in Creative NonFiction Writing and have since published three books. Dedicated to sharing mind-body-life wellness, I created YouAligned.com and app YouAligned Classes. Yet as I was building my career of helping others, I was inwardly self-sabotaging. I started playing small in life, afraid of failure and rejection. This experience both cost and taught me a lot. And I wouldn't be where I am today, able to teach and speak on what I do, if it wasn't for all that I've gone through. I am candid with my success, my mistakes, and all that I have learned along the way. Most importantly, I have distilled all of these experiences, lessons and insights, into my current work as an author, consultant, teacher and leader.

    About Annie & Miranda:

Annie Weaver and Miranda Spencer first crossed paths on the field, playing for Altitude Sickness, a competitive women's flag football team in Denver. In addition to their roles as teammates, they forged a business partnership driven by a shared mission: to empower women and increase the visibility of women's athletics.

Their motivation grew from the shared experience of navigating a sports landscape where opportunities for women were scarce. Both had grown up having to play on boys' teams due to the limited avenues available for girls in sports. The concept of women being professional athletes seemed distant until they witnessed the historic 1999 Women's World Cup game. Yet, even in 2024, it is nearly impossible to find a bar airing women's sports.

The 99ers Bar seeks to change this reality. As Denver's first sports bar catering primarily toward women's athletics, it is part of a growing movement of women's sports bars across the country. Here, women's games are not merely broadcasted; they are celebrated. The space is dedicated to empowering all people who may not feel welcome at a traditional sports bar, including the LGBTQ community.

No matter who you are or who you're cheering for, at the 99ers Sports Bar everyone is a part of the winning team.
