    Truly Anything

“Truly Anything” goes deep into the mind (via Magic School Bus) of Mandy Moore fanatic and “Jennifer’s Body” historian, Donny Hadfield-Smith. In each episode, he’ll speak on whatever he wants: the newest Netflix shows, Wendy’s seasonal items, his never-ending quest for the truth about Jon Benet Ramsey, whether or not Trishelle was the end of “The Real World” as we knew it, or a Sarah Michelle Gellar retrospective. In other words, he’ll talk about… truly anything.

'Ginny & Georgia" w/ Taria S. Faison of "What Else is Going On?" Mar 29, 2021
    Show notes

After taking a week off for his birthday (and because he couldn't find a celebrity guest because everyone is giving birth, Donny is BACK and ready to jump in head first.
Before bringing out Taria S. Faison (@weigopodcast), he catches up on all of the programming he's watched while on hiatus: Netflix's "A Week Away," which is basically just "Camp Rock" with Jesus and without the Jonas Brothers, Caitlyn Jenner's abysmal performance on "The Masked Singer," and the Tina Turner documentary on HBO - it was incredible, and Donny won't rest until his walls are plastered in old Tina Turner photoshoots.
Then, Donny and Taria discuss Netflix's current #1 streamed show, "Ginny & Georgia," and it's NOT the Gilmore Girls replica Donny expected it to be. It's fresh, it's relevant, and it dives deep into topics such as race, sexuality, abuse, self-harm, among so much more. Taria brings up the Taylor Swift controversy surrounding the show, and the two weigh in.
If you haven't, make sure you check out "Ginny & Georgia" on Netflix so Donny and Taria can get a season two!

REALITY RETROSPECTIVE - The Real World: San Francisco, Ep. 1 (w/ Diana Gebbia) Mar 25, 2021
    Show notes

TGIF! Donny decided it's been a long time since Fridays meant quality programming, so he chose to bring you bonus episodes every Friday.
That's right - starting today, he's releasing a "Reality Retrospective" where he'll dive into an old season of reality TV past. In honor of Paramount+ releasing (most) of the seasons of "The Real World," he's starting with season 3 of the story of seven strangers picked to live in a house... you know the rest.
To break down the season premiere of "The Real World: San Francisco," he's joined by entertainment host and voiceover artist, Diana Gebbia (@dianagebbia). Together, they experience this old school season for the first time and fall in love with Pedro (and Mohammed! And the bed-wetting liberal, Judd! And Pam! Maybe Cory - the jury is still out.) They also discuss whose hairstyle stands the test of time and why they would never stay at this Real World house (spoiler alert: it's a piece of sh*t.)

Anthony Alabi (and "Save the Last Dance" with Brianna Eckhardt) Mar 15, 2021
    Show notes

"The Masked Singer" has returned, and Donny is ON STRIKE after this week's unmasking. If you're looking for a place to get your Masked Singer recaps, go somewhere else because it WON'T be happening here.
After sharing his PTSD about the unmasking, Donny is joined by friend of the pod and pop culture connoisseur, Brianna Eckhardt (@brieckhardt) to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of "Save the Last Dance." They share their history with the movie which, for Donny, includes being banished to the basement on New Year's Eve, and dissect THAT DANCE.
Then, Anthony Alabi, star of Netflix's "Family Reunion," pops in to discuss his time in the NFL, what it was like working with historical television icons, and what we can expect from the new season.

CJ Perry (and "The First Wives Club" with Mandy Slutsker of "Is This Real Life?") Mar 08, 2021
    Show notes

Between excitement and fear, Donny will never sleep again after this episode! He starts with recapping the news that took over Tik Tok: Samantha Hartsoe and her mirror. If you haven't seen her story, it's a wild one that includes a secret apartment and has garnered 18 million views on Tik Tok.
Then, he and Mandy Slutsker (@mandyslutsker) of "Is This Real Life?" discuss the perfection that is "The First Wives Club." Is there a movie more iconic than this? Donny and Mandy say no. With Bette, Goldie and Diane, the gang is truly all here (and featuring cameos that we didn't even understand upon our first watch)!
Last, CJ Perry (WWE's Lana) chats with Donny about her new movie, "Cosmic Sin," starring Bruce Willis. They dive into some incredible career highlights that include (besides being a WWE superstar) teaching the cast of "Pitch Perfect" wCJ hat it's like to tailgate and being animated alongside Scooby Doo.

Taylor Louderman (and "Scream Queens" with Amanda Page of "It's All Happening with Amanda") Mar 03, 2021
    Show notes

It's an action packed episode full of Scream Queens and the Queen Bee of Broadway!
First, Donny chats with Amanda Page (@itsallhappeningx) of "It's All Happening with Amanda" about the two-season horror comedy, "Scream Queens." They touch on the issue with Ryan Murphy's writing, the hits and misses of "Glee," needing a break from Lea Michele, and Amanda teaches Donny some little known cultural references from the show. They also touch on... a lot of other stuff: "Pretty Little Liars," Taylor Lautner, being afraid of the dark, and which iconic demonic landmark Amanda's grandmother lived near.
Then, Donny is joined by Taylor Louderman, star of Broadway's "Mean Girls" and NBC's "Kenan." The two discuss how she prepared for her role on the sitcom, what she's most excited for this season, and the fact that being overly-driven isn't a bad thing (someone tell Donny's husband!) They also talk about her time as Regina George - how she made sure to make her portrayal of the character fresh, her favorite "Mean Girls" memory, and if she'd ever return to Broadway. Taylor also stresses the importance of using her platform to inspire and empower young artists with her "Write Out Loud" contest.

Nikki Blonsky (and "Billboard Dad" with @ohnobravo) Feb 22, 2021
    Show notes

Good morning, Baltimore! Welcome to the 60's... and a wild journey... as Donny crams THREE guests into one episode!
First, Donny's sister Callie (@callie_rushelle) calls in to the "Truly Anything" studio from inside of a cave to discuss the two hour finale of "The Masked Dancer," but they end up talking about so much more - their weekly dance class, their favorite season of "Dancing with the Stars," not having a need to see "Dear Evan Hansen" more than once, the best Leighton Meester songs, and memories of family vacations where Donny used a 6-year-old Callie to catcall hot strangers.
Then, Donny is joined by his favorite trench coat twin, Chelsea (@ohnobravo), to break down - what else? - a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen film. Up first for the duo is "Billboard Dad," the parental rom-com as seen through a tween lens. A cameo from Troian Bellisario of "Pretty Little Liars" fame is the true highlight of this movie, but that doesn't stop the pair from spending a full half hour talking about it. #justicefornigel
Next, Donny chats with the always wonderful Nikki Blonsky about her busy schedule and her iconic career. She opens up about so much - from what it was like playing characters whose weights were such an issue to coming out to how she deals with the frustrations of people expecting her to be Tracy Turnblad.
This episode is a WILD ride, but it's one you don't want to miss!

"Valentine" with Quinten Lamar featuring Amanda Bertoncini from Bravo's "Princesses: Long Island" Feb 15, 2021
    Show notes

Roses are red, violets are blue, throw some rose petals on the bed, big boy, because it's a Valentine's Day special, and if you miss this one, everyone will talk about you!
Donny starts by recapping the Valentine's Semi-Finals special of "The Masked Dancer", and breaks down why athletes should not be allowed on celebrity dancing shows. He also shares his grievances about the last installment of "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" and makes a case as to why it was unnecessary because of its similarities to another piece of cinematic history.
Then, Donny's Valentine, Quinten Lamar (@quintenlamar), is in the house to discuss the 2001 slasher, "Valentine." It's not long before Donny realizes Quinten has nothing good to say about the movie, but that doesn't stop them from dissecting the movie scene-by-scene.
The episode ends with "Princesses: Long Island" star Amanda Bertoncini (@therealamandab_), who brings along her boyfriend Steve, the other half of this power couple. Amanda gives the inside scoop of her time on the show, Steve dishes on his celebrity feud, and together, they offer ideas for fun dates and ways that couples can stay sane during quarantine.

    Kapil Talwalkar Feb 10, 2021
    Show notes

Donny is joined by Kapil Talwalkar, who can be found as Tobin on "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist." He discusses what drew him towards the show, how wild the audition process was, and what some of his favorite performances have been on the show. Then, they discuss the importance of episode 2x06, "Zoey's Extraordinary Reckoning" and how the writers made sure the episode was as authentic as possible and how Kapil prepared for it. The interview ends with Kapil sharing his favorite pop culture moment, and it's one that warms Donny's heart and leaves him in awe.

“The List: Who Killed Jon Benet?” with Killer Society Podcast featuring Kosoko Jackson Feb 08, 2021
    Show notes

Donny wastes your time yet again with a recap of this week's episode of "The Masked Dancer." Is anyone watching this besides him and his sister? He's not sure, but how is he supposed to breathe with no air now that the Exotic Bird went home? He shares his connection to the dancer behind the mask - is he her #1 fan? Quite possibly.
He's then joined by Carlee Paris and Callie Pillow, hosts of Killer Society Podcast (@killersocietypodcast) to break down the 20/20 special "The List: Who Killed Jon Benet?" They share their theories going into the special (spoiler alert: it's Burke) and if the special taught them anything (it didn't) and if they changed their thinking about the case (surprisingly, yes). They also discuss which celebrities look like they're made for solving infamous cold cases.
The episode wraps up with an interview with author Kosoko Jackson (@kosokojackson), whose debut novel "Yesterday is History" is out now. They discuss Kosoko's inspiration, his writing process and which childhood books led him down a path as a writer. Donny shares some insights on the first novel he ever wrote ("Camp Doolb," which is just blood spelled backwards, and in hindsight was just "Goosebumps" fan fiction).

Hot Topics with @bravobravoduckingbravo featuring Karissa Lee Staples Feb 01, 2021
    Show notes

Donny wastes no time in his premiere on delivering the chaos he's promised. He begins by summing up the first five episodes of "The Masked Dancer," and if you wanted chaos - THIS is chaos. Ashley Tisdale, a medical doctor and Paula Abdul on the same panel guessing which pop culture "icons" are dressed as cotton candy and doing the Pasodoble? Pure chaos. He then digs into current events with one of the deepest divers of social media there is, @bravobravoduckingbravo. Together they give their opinions on Armie Hammer and Erika Jayne as neighbors, the Laguna Beach/Southern Charm/sports crossover that nobody asked for, and the Disney love triangle that has our radios (and Tik Tok) buzzing. He ends this episode interviewing Karissa Lee Staples of Hulu's "Everyone is Doing Great," who shares her weirdest audition story and what she'd like to see for her character, Sarah Dinsey, if there's a second season.
