Why Lindsay Clancy's Lawsuit Blames Her Own Doctors Aug 15, 2026
    Show notes

Patrick Clancy's wrongful death lawsuit, filed in January 2026, doesn't just grieve his children. It builds a medical case against the providers who treated Lindsay in the weeks before Cora, Dawson, and Callan died. Tony Brueski opens the filing and lays out exactly what it alleges.
According to the complaint, providers misprescribed a stack of powerful psychiatric medications and kept adding new ones without a coordinated plan behind the decisions. The civil filings count nine medications in Lindsay's final months, eight of them inside the last three weeks, while her own criminal defense counts thirteen. Her final psychiatric appointment fell on January 23, 2023, the day before her children died, and a simple lab test that would have shown whether her body was processing those medications was never ordered. The complaint states that with adequate care, it's more likely than not the children would still be alive, directly at odds with what prosecutors are arguing in Plymouth Superior Court, where Lindsay is accused of planning the killings.
The episode also folds in eight days of criminal trial testimony, where prosecution witnesses, including friends, the family's nanny, and even Patrick's own relatives, keep describing Lindsay as a devoted mother. Tony covers the takeout order and errand splitting the audience, the pill bottles prosecutors emptied out to argue she skipped her medication, the psychiatric hospital that discharged her nineteen days before her children died, and whether a not-criminally-responsible verdict could ever mean Lindsay walks free.
Two counties, two juries, and a lawsuit that reads like the missing half of the story.

Murdaugh Witness Ryan Kelly Got Fired For WHAT?! Aug 15, 2026
    Show notes

Ryan Kelly told Alex Murdaugh's jury that nothing tied alternate suspect Eddie Smith to the murders of Maggie and Paul. In June 2026, he was fired from a Charleston County internal affairs job. The records don't describe the allegations, and nothing currently links the firing to his SLED work or the Murdaugh case. Tony Brueski lays out exactly what's known and what isn't.
The timing matters because of what else surfaced the same week. On August 5, 2026, Murdaugh's defense filed a Brady motion demanding prosecutors search every file, agency, and personnel record connected to the case and swear in writing that nothing favorable to Murdaugh is being withheld. It leans heavily on lead investigator David Owen's record: a 2015 murder case where a judge later quashed the indictment because the state sat on favorable evidence for nearly a decade, including a mother's account that Owen denied under oath.
Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins to weigh whether the defense's demand is a fishing expedition or something this investigation has earned. She also addresses the white shirt Murdaugh wore the night of the murders, which tested negative for human blood before a chemical used in SLED's own testing left it permanently unusable for any further analysis.
The same day the motion was filed, a federal judge dismissed Murdaugh's $600,000 lawsuit against former clerk Becky Hill, whose jury tampering overturned his original convictions. Hill has pleaded guilty to obstruction, perjury, and misconduct and received no prison time. Judge Debra McCaslin hears arguments on the Brady motion August 14, 2026. Murdaugh is presumed innocent ahead of his 2027 retrial.

Why Patrick Clancy Never Faced A Single Charge Aug 15, 2026
    Show notes

The Plymouth County District Attorney charged one person in the deaths of the three Clancy children. State Police investigated and landed on that same name. It wasn't Patrick Clancy. So why does a growing slice of the internet keep insisting otherwise? Tony Brueski runs the theory down.
The claims circulating on Instagram and TikTok form a full list: Patrick drugged his wife for months, he held the restraints, he staged the bedroom window, the locked door was his doing, and his 2026 remarriage is proof he had a motive all along. Tony checks each one against actual courtroom testimony β€” NMS Laboratories toxicologist Justin Brower's findings on four medications in Lindsay Clancy's blood, the direction an interior bedroom lock actually turns, and a fingerprint claim that turns out to misread what a state trooper said on the stand.
Retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke joins to explain why online crowds gravitate toward the husband as a suspect almost by reflex, no matter what the paper trail shows, and what it would genuinely take to change that. His answer isn't the easy one.
Patrick's alibi is backed by CVS surveillance and phone records down to the minute. The remarriage detail came out in open court β€” Lindsay's own attorney disclosed it and told the judge Patrick had lived through one of the worst tragedies a person can survive. Three providers who treated Lindsay have since testified, and civil filings name all three as defendants in the case some are calling a cover story. Hear the full breakdown and decide where the evidence actually points.

Why Nancy Guthrie's Sheriff Changed His Story Overnight Aug 15, 2026
    Show notes

One day, Pima County's sheriff said there was no ransom note in the Nancy Guthrie case. The next day, his department released two. Tony Brueski and retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke take listener questions on that reversal and everything else this case has surfaced in the six months since Nancy was taken from her Tucson home.
The first note opens with 'Hello Savannah,' demands four million dollars in Bitcoin, and knows details only someone inside the house would know: a white smart watch on the floor by the bed, a destroyed flood light out back. The second asks for nothing at all. It claims Nancy died shortly after she was taken, that she's buried in nature, and that the writer hopes her children find peace. Listeners want to know who abandons four million dollars, how the writer knew the inside of that house, and whether a sheriff who reversed himself overnight can be trusted with the rest of this case.
The financial trail raises its own questions. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer's trace shows the only money that ever moved into the alleged kidnapper's wallet came from the FBI itself, roughly three hundred dollars, and it's still sitting there untouched. No ransom was ever paid, despite Savannah Guthrie's public statement that the family did their part. Messages written directly to that wallet echo Savannah's exact on-camera words, and that line has never been answered.
Search teams have gone back to the brush behind Nancy's own home since the monsoons. Dreeke and Coffindaffer weigh what all of it adds up to.

Fernandez Wrote Two Words on a Check and Prosecutors Found Them Aug 15, 2026
    Show notes

Before Mario Fernandez's murder trial begins in the Jared Bridegan case, his defense has already reshaped the field. The alleged triggerman withdrew his confession. A judge blocked testimony about a private conversation between Fernandez and his estranged wife. Prosecutors dropped two of four charges without explanation.

But the state kept the financial records. Fernandez's property company issued three checks to the man prosecutors say shot Bridegan, totaling roughly $10,000 after the killing. One was a $5,000 payment dated April 4, 2022, allegedly carrying the words "Kickstarter" and "Good luck!" on the memo line. The defense argues these covered legitimate property maintenance and that no money went to the alleged gunman before the crime occurred.

Phone records document 35 calls between Fernandez and the alleged shooter in February 2022, the month of the killing, with 30 more the following month. A prosecutor told the court in late July that a second individual left the scene in a pickup truck and has not been publicly identified. An inmate who spent nearly a year near Fernandez in the Duval County jail told the state that Fernandez spoke openly about the conspiracy, assigned roles to the participants, and allegedly proposed a plan to shift blame onto Jared's widow Kirsten after the inmate's release.

Prosecutors say they offered the inmate no deals on his own pending case. The defense contends the state's cooperating witness was coerced into his original confession and that jailhouse informants are inherently unreliable.

Fernandez denies all charges. Trial runs August 17 through 28 in Duval County. Gardner's trial is scheduled for the end of August. Tenon goes to trial in spring 2027.

The Lindsay Clancy Prosecution Lost Ground It Can't Get Back Aug 15, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution in the Lindsay Clancy trial is three weeks into presenting its case, and the ground it has lost may not be recoverable. The state's own witnesses have consistently painted a picture that helps the defense β€” a devoted mother, a Seroquel spiral, thirteen medications, a psychiatrist who treated her by video call and never met her face to face.

Lindsay Clancy's defense conceded she killed her children and is arguing she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis. Kevin Reddington told the jury she heard voices. He's read her journal entries about intrusive thoughts and desperation. He's dismantled the prosecution's medical witnesses on cross-examination. No clinician diagnosed psychosis before the killings.

While the trial plays out in Plymouth Superior Court, TikTok creators are accusing Patrick Clancy of being the real killer. They're comparing him to Chris Watts and scrutinizing his remarriage. Lindsay's own defense team has told the jury she did it.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis examines the prosecution's position, the defense's strategy, and the legal landscape for a father facing murder accusations from social media creators while his ex-wife's trial determines whether she was too sick to be held responsible for their children's deaths.

Nick Reiner's Case Just Skipped the Step His Defense Needed Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

Nick Reiner was supposed to face a preliminary hearing this fall. Instead, the DA went to a grand jury behind closed doors and came back with an indictment that changes the case. The new charges allege lying in wait β€” a second special circumstance that says the killings of Rob and Michele Reiner were premeditated and concealed, not impulsive. A grand jury indictment in California replaces the original charges and eliminates the preliminary hearing entirely. The defense loses its opportunity to cross-examine prosecution witnesses before trial. The proceedings are one-sided, sealed, and operate on probable cause rather than proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The indictment was returned July 20, sat sealed for three weeks, and was unsealed August 12. Nick Reiner denied the charges in court the same morning. California's lying-in-wait special circumstance requires a jury to find that the defendant hid what he planned, waited for his opportunity, and attacked by surprise β€” with the specific intent to kill. Nick was diagnosed with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. He spent a year under a conservatorship for grave disability. His parents paid for his treatment, kept him on their Brentwood property, and brought him to Hollywood premieres. His medication was reportedly switched weeks before the killings. Tony explains the strategic calculation behind the grand jury move, what the prosecution just committed to proving, and what two special circumstances mean for a death penalty decision that still hasn't been made. Nick Reiner remains held on no bond. The pretrial hearing is September 15.

What Patrick Clancy Was Called While His Ex-Wife Stands Trial Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

While Lindsay Clancy stands trial for killing her three children, TikTok creators are accusing her ex-husband Patrick of being the real killer. They're comparing him to Chris Watts. They're claiming Lindsay didn't jump from the second-floor window β€” he pushed her. Lindsay's own defense attorney has admitted in open court that she killed the children and is arguing she was not criminally responsible.

The conspiracy theories have escalated during the trial. Creators are analyzing Patrick's remarriage to Dr. Rachel Danis, scrutinizing his courtroom demeanor, and constructing narratives that directly contradict the evidence presented before the jury. Patrick is a Microsoft employee living in New York. He testified as the prosecution's first witness and described finding his children after returning from running errands.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis examines the legal question at the center of the social media circus: can Patrick do anything about creators accusing him of murder to audiences of millions? Where the line between opinion and defamation falls. What it means that Patrick likely isn't a traditional public figure. Whether the Alex Jones and Sandy Hook precedent applies. And the practical challenge of filing defamation lawsuits against anonymous creators across multiple jurisdictions with no guarantee of collecting damages.

Was Lindsay Clancy's Jury Shown Everything On Her Phone? Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

Text messages from Lindsay Clancy's phone were read to the jury at Plymouth Superior Court on Day 13 of her murder trial. On the morning of January 24, 2023, she sent Patrick a snowman photo at 8:19 a.m. He responded: "You're a good mama." She asked about takeout from a restaurant. That afternoon β€” Miralax, CVS, Callan's nap schedule, Pedialax. Parenting logistics until the final hours.

The prosecution led the day's digital forensics testimony with one Google search from January 20: "Can you treat a sociopath?" Kevin Reddington spent his cross reading the rest of the browser history aloud. Searches spanning December 29 through January 23 covered every psychiatric medication Lindsay had been prescribed and symptoms including schizophrenia, psychosis, intrusive thoughts, and hallucinations.

Messages between Lindsay and her mother showed a slow-motion check-in across January. Anxious about meeting the psychiatry team on January 3. Feeling a little better on January 10. Starting a new medication on January 18. On January 14: "Hanging in there, waiting for the day I feel like me."

A forensic examiner testified that a second trooper had performed a separate extraction of the phone's data using a different method, and the two results didn't match. The case officer's walkthrough video showed blood pooled on the bedroom floor and a chef's knife on the nightstand. A medical examiner told the case officer that strangulation takes several additional minutes after loss of consciousness to cause death. Lindsay Clancy has pleaded not guilty and argues postpartum psychosis made her unable to appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions. Prosecutors allege deliberate planning.

Lindsay Clancy Says She Heard Voices β€” Her Doctors Diagnosed Anxiety Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy's defense says she heard voices on the day her children died. Every clinician who saw her before that day wrote down anxiety and depression. The postpartum psychosis diagnosis came after January 24, 2023, from a forensic psychiatrist working for the defense.

In the months before the killings, Lindsay was prescribed thirteen psychiatric medications. She messaged her nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta almost daily asking to change them. She wrote about intrusive thoughts she had never experienced, about brain fog, about wanting help. Patrick Clancy told her doctors they were turning her into a zombie.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington isn't asking the jury to believe Lindsay didn't do it. He admitted that in his opening statement. He's arguing she wasn't criminally responsible β€” that postpartum psychosis, combined with a medication cascade no provider controlled, made her incapable of knowing what she was doing. He has spent three weeks dismantling the prosecution's medical witnesses on cross-examination and fighting to add new witnesses the judge initially barred.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down the defense's strategy, its strongest testimony so far, and the fundamental challenge at the center of this case: convincing twelve people that a woman who killed her three children was too sick to be held accountable for it.
