Embracing the Suck: Threshold Mar 19, 2020

Show notes

Last week we looked at one of Star Trek: Voyager's best episodes and now the pendulum must swing the other direction.

It's probably one of the most maligned Voyager episodes of all time, and this week, we're going to look at it a little differently.

Join us as we kick off a new series which looks at some episodes that aren't as popular and finds a reason to love them! It's "Embracing the Suck," and in this episode we'll examine Voyager's "Threshold" in our first installment.

Even Brannon Braga calls it terrible, but we'll look at the reasons why you should love it and why it might not be as bad as nearly everyone thinks.

Show notes

Our year-long celebration of Star Trek: Voyager's 25th Anniversary continues and, this week, we look at one of Voyager's best.

"Blink of an Eye" from Season 6 puts the crew in a situation we've never seen: stuck in the orbit of a planet where time passes much faster. They witness centuries of development of this planet and shape much of the society's progress.

We'll discuss what makes this such an amazing episode of Star Trek, along with standout performances and the questions it makes us ask.

The Romulans Mar 04, 2020

Show notes

They're one of the most feared and most deceitful adversaries we've ever seen.

From their first appearance in Balance of Terror, the Romulans have been a constant threat to Starfleet and the security of the United Federation of Planets.

They've been featured pretty heavily in Star Trek: Picard, so we decided this would be a great time to look at this race. We'll examine the Romulan society and the history of the Romulans, plus we'll take a look at some of our standout episodes and some of our favorite Romulans ever.

Paradise Feb 19, 2020

Show notes

Trapped on a planet where electronics and devices are rendered inoperable, Sisko and O'Brien are taken in by a group of human colonists in the Gamma Quadrant--but what are they doing there?

All is not as it appears as we look at Deep Space Nine's "Paradise" from Season 2.

We'll examine the things that work (or don't) in this episode and how it might be even more relevant today than it was in 1994.

Plus, when we tell you that there's a lot of news from FanSets, that's almost not doing it justice. We have a lot to announce and, well...let's just say you're going to save some quatloos in the process.

It's all in this week's episode of The Flagship, so join us, won't you?
