His companies have won numerous high profile business accolades and he has been featured in multiple media outlets. Judge hosts the Scale and Exit podcast and is an acclaimed author and speaker. Judge talks to your host Travis Chappell about how to scale your business, how to build a sellable company, and why you should be building a personal brand. Episode Highlights: Judge grew up in an average middle-class family with hardworking parents. He grew up appreciating what things would cost. Surrounding yourself with the right people makes a huge difference. You have to have a heightened sense of urgency to win. You can’t build a real company unless you have people. Judge majored in business at TCU in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Judge started a web design and development company in college. Judge went personally bankrupt in his first business. Recurring revenue is powerful and necessary to business. A lot of people want to be entrepreneurs but they aren’t willing to sacrifice. Judge’s second business was a digital marketing company and then he started growing and flipping companies. What Judge’s next step will be. Why personal branding is important. Many current CEO’s are missing the personal branding element. When you have a personal brand you’re more accessible and people are more interested in you. If you have a true personal brand it’s easier to start doing the next thing. You have to be authentic and you have to choose a side. Believe in growth culture but try not to copy anyone. Who you know is more important - you have to know your stuff but without the network it doesn’t matter. On the internet, you can get access to almost anybody - reach out and be thoughtful. Super successful people like to give. The Random Round: What profession other than your own do you think it would be fun to attempt? Professional football If you could sit on a park bench with anyone past or present and talk with them for an hour, who would it be and why? Jesus How do you like to consume content? Audiobooks Podcasts Judge’s favorite audiobooks: Mastering the Rockefeller Habits Rework Judge’s morning routine: Wake up and pray/meditate Work out Attack what he needs to accomplish Be very mindful of his time What is your go-to pump up song? Show notes

Learn three tangible ways you can grow a good size audience and become a sought after connection. Episode Highlights: There’s a big difference between trying to connect with other people and being the person people want to connect with. Constantly be working on yourself to be sure you’re the type of person people want to connect with. Three ways to become a person people want to connect with: 1) Become a person of influence. 2) Become a person of interest. 3) Become a person of value. You might not understand how you can add value to someone when you’re getting started. The value that you provide can change over time. If you implement the three ways people will want to connect with you and you’ll use less energy. 3 Key Points: When you have the stage and the influence you become the person people want to connect with. Become a person of interest - being interesting and recognizable are two different things. Figure out a way that you can add value to people. Marshall Goldsmith has recognized David as a top 100 business coach and an advisory board member of over 45 companies and charities. David talks to your host about inner fulfillment and how to get there, how to overcome things that have happened in the past between you and other people. He found a way to weave sports into his first job out of college. All of Dave’s brothers and sisters were doctors and lawyers. Parents don’t tell kids what to do, they show you. You don’t do what you love, you learn to love what you do. How to change your mindset about your job - find the light in it. If things aren’t going the way you expect them to go, pray for someone’s happiness. Just because you’re financially successful doesn’t mean you’re actually successful. When things happen for you, you can have too much and it can make you unhappy. Spirituality and math go into Dave’s decision-making process. If you can create a “habit machine” then you can think about what you want to do and get out of your own way. List out three things in your life that you know are good for you, but you don’t do. If you believe that if you say “thank you” for over 30 days your life will be different and then you do it, your life will change. Getting growth doesn’t start without action, even small actions. We input data into our systems through the five senses, but our data is foggy. It takes one particle of light to cancel out a million particles of darkness. Neural pathways create habits and they’re impacting your DNA. We usually make decisions based on the opinions of others which is how you make huge mistakes. Be really clear and simply about what you want in life. Who you know is more important because it includes what you know.
