Google LSA Is Moving Into Google Ads: What Garage Door Companies Need to Know Oct 20, 2026
    Show notes

Google Local Services Ads are changing again, and garage door companies are starting to receive migration notices. What does this mean for your advertising budget, lead tracking, and overall marketing strategy?

In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan Lucia breaks down the latest Google LSA updates, including the move from the standalone Local Services Ads dashboard into the Google Ads platform, changes to lead billing, and what garage door business owners should do before their accounts are migrated.

One of the biggest concerns involves missed calls. Ryan discusses Google's updated LSA billing rules, including when unanswered calls may become billable, how lead reviews and credits work, and why having an answering service or AI-powered phone system could become increasingly important for protecting your advertising investment.

Ryan also explains why garage door companies should export their historical LSA performance data before migration and carefully monitor lead volume, advertising costs, and conversions as Google transitions accounts into its broader advertising ecosystem.

The episode also covers new Google Ads budget controls designed to help advertisers prioritize where their money is spent. For garage door companies focused on emergency repairs, broken springs, and immediate service calls, controlling spending across Search, Display, and partner networks could make a meaningful difference in lead quality.

Google Business Profile is changing too. Ryan discusses updated Google Maps and GBP policies restricting promotional language, pricing, and direct calls to action in certain areas of business listings. He explains why garage door companies should review their descriptions, services, and products to help avoid potential policy violations.

Another major topic is Google's reported increase in manual SEO penalties. Ryan warns about thin website content, duplicate service area pages, keyword stuffing, and agencies using AI to mass-produce hundreds of low-quality pages. As Google continues cracking down on spam and scaled content abuse, original, useful content and a well-planned local SEO strategy remain essential.

Finally, Ryan covers changes to Microsoft Advertising and Bing, including new limitations on maximum cost-per-click bidding for certain campaigns and what those changes could mean for businesses using Bing as an additional lead source.

Google Ads, Local Services Ads, Google Business Profile, AI, and SEO are evolving quickly. Garage door companies need to stay informed, protect their advertising budgets, and make sure their marketing agencies are keeping up with the changes.

Google Rankings Are Stable, But Calls Are Dropping: What's Happening to Garage Door Leads? Oct 13, 2026
    Show notes

Your garage door company is still ranking on Google, but your phone isn't ringing like it used to. What's happening?

In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan Lucia breaks down five major Google and digital marketing changes that could be affecting leads, phone calls, and advertising performance for garage door companies and home service businesses.

One of the biggest changes involves Google Business Profile and the disappearance of click-to-call buttons from certain mobile search results. Ryan discusses research showing how frequently these buttons are missing, why some businesses are experiencing declining GBP calls despite stable rankings, and how Google's changing search experience could be making it harder for customers to contact local businesses.

Google is also bringing more advertisements and business listings directly into AI Overviews and AI Mode. Ryan explains why your website, customer reviews, citations, and overall online presence are becoming increasingly important as Google's AI determines which local businesses to recommend.

The episode also covers Google's move away from call-only ads, why garage door companies should prepare to use call assets with responsive search ads, and how proper call tracking and high-converting landing pages can help protect advertising performance.

Another important update involves Google automatically pulling promotions and special offers from business websites into search results. Ryan explains why outdated discounts and expired promotions could create problems if your website isn't regularly maintained.

Finally, Ryan explores the changing AI search landscape, including ChatGPT, Claude, AI assistants, and the possibility that homeowners will increasingly rely on AI to find, contact, and schedule garage door companies. He also revisits the growing importance of Google Business Profiles, Yelp, and local SEO as businesses compete for visibility in AI-powered search.

The way customers find garage door companies is changing. Ranking number one on Google may no longer guarantee the same number of calls, clicks, or leads it once did.

If you own a garage door company, this episode will help you understand why your leads may be changing and what to discuss with your marketing agency.

Google Just Changed GBP Again: Garage Door Companies Have 4 Days to Act Oct 06, 2026
    Show notes

Google just made another change to Google Business Profile—and for garage door companies already dealing with spam, scammers, and attempted profile hijackings, this is one you need to pay attention to.

In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan breaks down reports that businesses may have just four days to reject certain suggested edits to their Google Business Profile before Google can potentially publish the change. In a spam-heavy industry like garage doors, that makes monitoring your GBP more important than ever.

Ryan explains why garage door company owners should watch closely for Google notifications involving suggested changes to business information, while also being extremely careful about phishing emails and fake Google messages. He also covers Google's new alerts for spikes in suspicious reviews and additional restrictions involving phone numbers, emails, and social handles in GBP posts.

Local Service Ads are changing too. Ryan discusses Google's continued move toward bringing LSA management into the Google Ads ecosystem, including changes to bidding, campaign data, and the growing connection between Local Service Ads and Google Business Profile. If you want access to your historical LSA performance, Ryan explains why now may be the time to export that data before older metrics disappear.

The episode also covers Google's September 2026 spam update and why garage door companies shouldn't immediately panic if SEO rankings fluctuate while the update is rolling out. As Google continues targeting spam and low-value websites, original content, real photos, useful information, and actual user engagement are becoming increasingly important.

Then Ryan dives into one of the biggest SEO developments for marketing agencies: Google's efforts to restrict bots and third-party scrapers from collecting search data. SEO platforms and agencies have historically relied heavily on scraped Google results to track rankings, analyze competitors, and measure progress. If access to that data continues to tighten, the way agencies track and automate SEO could change dramatically.

Ryan explains why this could especially impact agencies attempting to automate SEO heavily with AI—and why experienced marketers who understand Search Console, Analytics, SEO strategy, and the garage door industry may become even more valuable.

Google Business Profile, Local Service Ads, SEO reporting, spam updates, AI, and Google Search are all changing quickly. Garage door companies can't afford to put their marketing on autopilot.

From $500K to $15M+: How Central Door Solutions Built a Garage Door Empire Sep 29, 2026
    Show notes

How do you grow a garage door company from roughly $500,000 in annual revenue to a $15M+ operation with multiple locations—and then decide when it’s time to partner with private equity?

In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan sits down with Chris Brooks from Central Door Solutions in Wisconsin for a conversation about business growth, sales, leadership, acquisitions, failure, motivation, and the rapidly changing garage door industry.

Chris shares his journey from the automotive sales world into garage doors, the early business struggles that taught him to face problems head-on, and the partnership that helped transform Central Door Solutions into a multi-location company with more than 50 employees and a sales team of roughly 10 people.

They discuss one of the biggest drivers behind Central Door’s growth: building a strong sales culture. Chris explains why digital marketing alone isn't enough, why salespeople still need an outbound mindset, and why following up with a phone call or an in-person visit can separate your company from competitors relying on emails and inbound leads.

The conversation also dives into employee retention, incentive-based compensation, accountability, delegation, and how Central Door built department leaders so ownership could focus on growing the company instead of constantly putting out fires.

Chris shares the story behind acquiring Fox Valley Overhead Door, what made the company a cultural fit, and how an acquisition can create new energy while still giving both organizations opportunities to learn from each other.

Finally, Chris discusses Central Door Solutions' decision to partner with Galaxy. He explains why the influx of private equity and outside investment is changing the garage door industry, why remaining independent is becoming increasingly challenging, and what he looked for in a partner before making such a major decision. For Chris, maintaining ownership, protecting employees, preserving company culture, and having additional resources to continue growing were critical pieces of the deal.

This episode is about much more than garage doors. It's about taking risks, learning from failure, building great teams, creating a sales culture, knowing when to acquire, and deciding how you want to compete as the industry consolidates.

If you're building a garage door company and thinking about growth, acquisitions, private equity, succession, or your eventual exit strategy, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

Google Is Auto-Upgrading Your Ads to AI Max: What Garage Door Companies Need to Know Sep 18, 2026
    Show notes

Google is making major changes to Search campaigns, and some garage door companies may be affected without realizing it. In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan breaks down Google's move toward AI Max, the settings business owners and marketing agencies need to review, and why giving Google's AI more control over your advertising isn't necessarily producing better leads.

Ryan explains his concerns with AI Max campaigns, including spam, questionable conversion data, broader search term matching, and wasted ad spend. He also discusses why negative keywords are becoming even more important as Google expands beyond the keywords advertisers specifically choose. Something as simple as failing to exclude searches for “garage sale,” DIY repairs, cheap garage doors, or cities outside your service area could mean paying for clicks that have little chance of becoming customers.

The episode also covers major changes happening with Google Business Profile. Recent data shows calls and website clicks from GBP declining while direction requests are increasing, potentially signaling that more homeowners are completing their search journey directly inside Google Maps.

AI-powered local search is changing too. Ryan discusses reports of AI local packs displaying fewer businesses than the traditional three-pack and sometimes removing the click-to-call option entirely. As Google continues experimenting with AI Overviews and AI Mode, garage door companies may have fewer opportunities to earn visibility—and getting into those top positions could become even more competitive.

Ryan also covers Google's new generative AI reporting inside Search Console, giving businesses another way to monitor their visibility within Google's AI ecosystem. Google Post view counts are also returning after several years, providing businesses with additional insight into GBP engagement.

Finally, Ryan warns garage door companies about a new Google Business Profile scam involving customer-uploaded photos containing fraudulent phone numbers. If homeowners see the image and call the number instead of the company's legitimate phone number, the lead could end up somewhere else entirely.

Google Ads, Google Business Profile, Maps, AI Overviews, and local SEO are evolving quickly. If you own a garage door company, now is the time to review your campaigns, monitor your GBP, tighten your negative keywords, and understand how Google's AI changes could affect your leads and advertising budget.

Did Someone Just Spend $2 Billion on Garage Door Companies? + Google Updates Sep 02, 2026
    Show notes

Could a garage door company really be worth $2 billion? In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan breaks down reports of a potential $2 billion deal involving A1 Garage Door Service and KKR—and what continued private equity consolidation could mean for independent garage door companies across the country.

While the reported transaction has not been officially confirmed, Ryan discusses the potential impact of another massive private equity move in the garage door industry, including market consolidation, competition, branding, and why locally owned garage door companies may need to lean harder into their identity as independent, family-owned businesses.

Ryan also shares several major marketing updates, including why Markinuity stopped running ChatGPT Ads after tracking conversion costs, Google's continued push toward AI Overviews and AI Mode, and new challenges marketers are facing as Google restricts access to search and keyword data.

Another major shift is happening inside Google Search itself. Two people standing in the same location can now receive noticeably different search and AI results for the same query. Ryan explains why manually searching your own company may no longer accurately tell you where you “rank” and why garage door companies need to rethink how they evaluate SEO performance.

The episode also examines how AI Overviews are reducing organic clicks and pushing traditional search results farther down the page. Ryan explains why ranking in Google still matters, but being recommended by Google AI is becoming increasingly important for replacing traffic that traditional organic search is losing.

Google Ads and AI Max campaigns are another major topic. Ryan discusses why AI-powered advertising may work extremely well for e-commerce but continues to present challenges for urgent home service searches like broken springs, emergency garage door repair, and same-day service. When homeowners need help immediately, predicting future buying behavior isn't necessarily as valuable as appearing at the exact moment they search.

Ryan also looks at the 2026 homeowner market, interest rates, remodeling spending, growing demand for repairs, and what current economic conditions could mean for garage door replacement and service companies.

The garage door industry is changing quickly—from private equity and consolidation to AI search, Google Ads, SEO, and changing homeowner behavior. Independent dealers need to understand what's happening and position their businesses accordingly.

Google LSA Is Charging for Missed Calls: What Garage Door Companies Need to Know Aug 27, 2026
    Show notes

Could missed calls suddenly start costing your garage door company a lot more money? Google Local Services Ads is changing how missed calls are handled, and Ryan explains why garage door business owners need to pay attention to their LSA budgets, call answering, and advertising strategy.

In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan breaks down Google's announcement that advertisers can be charged for missed LSA calls when a caller remains connected long enough. For an industry already dealing with spam calls and bad actors, this raises an important question: Could competitors or automated spam calls burn through your weekly advertising budget without ever becoming legitimate leads?

Ryan explains why now may be the time to review your LSA budget settings, talk with your marketing agency, and reconsider how calls are handled after hours. With Google encouraging businesses to remain available while simultaneously monetizing missed calls, answering services and AI-powered call handling could become increasingly important.

The episode also covers Google's August spam update, Performance Max campaigns, AI-powered Google Ads, Google's recent favicon glitch, and a new Preferred Sources feature that could potentially influence how content appears within AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Ryan also discusses a ChatGPT Ads promotion being offered to garage door companies, why Google Business Profiles continue to become more important for local visibility, and why the combination of GBP, paid advertising, and SEO designed for AI search is becoming a major part of the future of garage door marketing.

Finally, Ryan explains an SEO strategy garage door companies need to approach carefully: service area pages. Creating useful pages for the cities you actually serve can help expand your local visibility, but aggressively creating large numbers of thin or repetitive pages can create unnecessary SEO risk. Ryan explains why more pages aren't automatically better and why your local SEO strategy needs to balance growth with Google's guidelines.

Google Search is changing quickly. Organic results are competing with ads, Google Business Profiles, AI Overviews, and AI Mode for attention. If you own a garage door company, understanding these changes now can help you protect your ad budget, rankings, and local market share.

You Switched Marketing Agencies… Now Your Google Rankings Are Gone Aug 19, 2026
    Show notes

Switching marketing agencies shouldn’t destroy your Google rankings—but Ryan is seeing it happen to garage door companies over and over again.

In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan breaks down the latest digital marketing, Google Business Profile, Google Ads, AI search, and local SEO updates affecting garage door companies and home service businesses. He also explains one of the biggest mistakes agencies make when rebuilding a website—and how a simple SEO step can prevent years of rankings and traffic from disappearing almost overnight.

When an agency launches a new website and changes existing URLs without properly implementing 301 redirects, Google can lose the connection between the pages it already knows and the new website. Pages that previously generated traffic and ranked for valuable searches can disappear from the index, forcing the new site to essentially start over. Ryan explains why every business owner should understand this before changing agencies or rebuilding a website.

The episode also covers Google Business Profile appearing more frequently in AI Overviews, why GBP rankings inside AI search may behave differently from the traditional map pack, and the growing importance of Yelp as platforms like Gemini and ChatGPT look for trusted local business information.

Ryan discusses new Google Business Profile guidelines, changes to review responses, Google's increasing use of AI inside Ads and Analytics, and why blindly accepting Google Ads recommendations can potentially hurt campaign performance.

He also explains how incorrect Cloudflare configurations may create SEO and discoverability problems, why businesses need to protect their websites from DDoS attacks without accidentally blocking search engines, and how AI can misinterpret online signals—including a hilarious example where ChatGPT incorrectly identified Ryan as the co-owner of someone else’s company simply because he shared their LinkedIn announcement.

AI search, Google Business Profile, Yelp, website SEO, and paid advertising are changing quickly. Garage door companies need marketing partners who understand how all of these pieces work together.

If you're considering switching marketing agencies or rebuilding your website, listen to this episode before anyone touches your existing site.

Google Business Profile Is Becoming the Battleground: How Garage Door Companies Can Compete Aug 11, 2026
    Show notes

Google Business Profile is becoming one of the most important assets a garage door company can own, and the competition for local visibility is getting more aggressive. In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan explains why GBP is moving to the center of Google Search, AI Overviews, advertising, Maps, and AI-powered recommendations—and what local garage door businesses need to do now to protect their market share.

Ryan breaks down why Google Business Profile leads remain some of the highest-quality opportunities in home services, how easily profiles can be suspended, and why understanding both Google’s published guidelines and the realities of local search has become essential for business owners.

The bigger conversation is about competition. National brands, private equity-backed companies, scammers, and aggressive multi-location operators are expanding their digital footprints quickly. Ryan explains why a local company relying on a single Google Business Profile may eventually struggle to compete against businesses building dozens or even hundreds of local signals across multiple markets.

This episode dives into why multi-location strategy is becoming critical for garage door companies that want to grow, how reviews influence trust and AI recommendations, and why generating consistent, detailed customer reviews should become a major priority. Ryan also discusses the growing importance of online “signals”—mentions, awards, press, social media, locations, and personal branding—that help Google and AI platforms connect your company with authority and trust.

As ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, and other large language models increasingly influence how homeowners choose service providers, being mentioned and trusted across the web may become just as important as traditional backlinks and keyword rankings.

Ryan also explains why business owners should begin strengthening their personal brands and connecting those brands to their companies, creating another layer of authority that AI can recognize.

If you own a garage door company or home service business, this episode is a wake-up call. Local search is changing, competition is accelerating, and the companies that understand Google Business Profile, multi-location SEO, reviews, reputation, and AI visibility will have a major advantage.

The race for local relevance is already underway. The question is whether your company is building its digital footprint fast enough to compete.

Google Ads, ChatGPT Ads & LSA Updates: What Garage Door Companies Need to Know Jul 29, 2026
    Show notes

Google Ads, Local Service Ads, ChatGPT advertising, AI search, and Google Business Profile are all changing quickly. In this episode of Torsion Talk, Ryan delivers a rapid-fire breakdown of the latest marketing and AI updates that garage door companies and home service businesses need to understand.

Ryan begins with an update on Google’s plan to move Local Service Ads into the Google Ads platform. While garage door services were not specifically listed in the first phase of the rollout, additional service businesses may be included later in the year. He explains what is expected to remain the same, including pay-per-lead pricing and placements within Google Search and Maps, as well as the removal of BBB callouts from LSA.

The episode also covers Google’s decision to remove the $50,000 advertising-spend requirement for lead forms, new developments involving Bing, and recent AI model releases from Claude and Gemini. Ryan discusses how these tools are becoming faster, more capable, and more affordable, as well as how Google is already incorporating its latest AI technology into Search, AI Overviews, and AI Mode.

Ryan also explains why Google Business Profile is becoming the center of the local marketing ecosystem. As Google connects Business Profiles with Local Service Ads, Google Ads, Maps, and AI-generated search results, maintaining accurate business information, strong reviews, and a trustworthy online presence is more important than ever.

Additional updates include Google’s efforts to filter suspicious reviews, changes to ChatGPT Ads budgeting, and the addition of UTM tracking for better advertising attribution. Ryan explains how weekly budgets give advertising platforms more flexibility to spend during periods of higher traffic and why improved tracking can help business owners understand which campaigns are actually producing website visits and leads.

The episode concludes with an update on Markinuity’s internal AI and automation tools. Ryan shares how the team is testing new systems through “breakathons” to make sure they are reliable, resilient, and ready to support real-world marketing and operational needs.
