Welcome to episode #679 of Six Pixels of Separation.

Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #679 - Host: Mitch Joel. Over a decade ago, Rob Walker was on this show. It speaks to the longevity of the show, but more importantly, it speaks to value and work that Rob Walker brings into our world. I had been following him long before we first recorded back in 2008 (and I have been following him ever since). Rob Walker is a journalist covering design, technology, business, the arts, and other subjects. He writes the Human Resource column for Lifehacker, and has contributed to publications like The New York Times (where he wrote The Workologist column from 2013 - 2018), The New York Times Magazine (his amazing Consumed column ran from 2004 - 2012), Bloomberg, The Atlantic and many others. His first two book, Letters From New Orleans and Buying In (a must-have for anyone in business) were both bestsellers. His latest book, The Art of Noticing - 131 ways to spark creativity, find inspiration and discover joy in the everyday, is amazing. He is on the faculty of the Products of Design MFA program at the School of Visual Arts and his newsletter, The Art of Noticing, is one everyone should subscribe to. In this episode we discuss creativity, inspiration and much more. Enjoy the conversation...

In previous lives, he worked as a librarian, a web designer, and an advertising copywriter. He grew up in the cornfields of Ohio, but now he lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and sons. If you don't get his awesome weekly email (a list of 10 things that are worth sharing), you don't know what you're missing. SPOS #672 - Better YouTube Channels With Carlos Pacheco May 26, 2019
    Show notes

Welcome to episode #672 of Six Pixels of Separation.

Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #672 - Host: Mitch Joel. Like millions of other people, YouTube is the new TV in my life. I subscribe to channels on YouTube, and every night I watch what I subscribed to. It's an amazing mess of interests, hobbies, music, news, information and more. I love it. Thousands of YouTube creators who seem to know exactly what I like (from magic and heavy metal to fountain pens and keynote speakers). Brands still want their videos to pop, and they want their content to go viral. The bigger idea is to create and build a sustainable (and impressive) YouTube channel. Too many are focused on a video… and not the channel opportunity. I've had the pleasure of knowing Carlos Pacheco for many years. Currently, he is the COO at Truly (a marketing agency), but he is also an excellent resource on how to build a successful YouTube channel. He doesn't just talk about it, either… he has done it. For brands like Just For Laughs (which moved from 300k to over 3 million subscribers in over a year) and many others. Carlos has close to twenty years of experience in marketing optimization, audience development and paid media strategy. He is also the co-host of The Video Insiders Podcast that deconstructs YouTube in great depth. Enjoy the conversation...

David's views on leadership have earned him invitations to speak to leaders from a variety of Fortune 500 companies. His TED talk (Why you should know how much your coworkers get paid) has been viewed over two million times. Today we had a conversation on thought leadership. Welcome to episode #670 of Six Pixels of Separation.

Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #670 - Host: Mitch Joel. The book Limitless is now a bestseller. It is time to have Laura Gassner Otting back on the show. Laura inspires people to push past the doubt and indecision that keep great ideas in limbo. She challenges her clients to think bigger and take on greater challenges that reach beyond their limited scope of belief. She delivers strategic thinking, well-honed wisdom, and perspective generated by decades of navigating change across the start-up, nonprofit, political, as well as philanthropic landscapes. Laura dares us all to find our true voice, and generate the confidence needed to tackle larger-than-life opportunities. Laura also founded and ran the Nonprofit Professionals Advisory Group, which partnered with the full gamut of mission-driven nonprofit executives, from start-up dreamers to scaling social entrepreneurs to global philanthropists. In 2015, Laura sold NPAG to the team that helped her build it, because she was hungry for the next chapter. Along the way, while serving on Hillary Clinton's National Finance Committee, she was asked to do a TEDx talk which became so popular that it launched a speaking career. Laura's new book is Limitless - How to Ignore Everybody, Carve Your Own Path, and Live Your Best Life. Enjoy the conversation...
