David, a McKinney native, is not only a successful entrepreneur running a roofing company and a marketing agency, but he's also the founder of Boomerang Cares Foundation, a nonprofit helping families in Collin County through tough times.

#85 A Dream Realized: How Envisioning, Planning, and Seeking Support Led to My Best-Seller Status Sep 02, 2024
    Show notes

Welcome to a special episode of Thinking That Matters!

Whether this is the first time you’re joining me or you’ve been part of this journey for the last few years! I’m excited to share a milestone that’s close to my heart—a dream realized. In this episode, I’m reflecting on the powerful principles that helped me achieve best-seller status for my book, Pick Your Path.

First, we dive into the importance of envisioning your dream. I’ve always believed that our brains think in pictures, and for the last two years, I’ve had a vision board with a central image—becoming a best-selling author. This dream was the driving force behind everything I did.

Next, we talk about the need to plan for your dream. For me, that meant creating content, writing scripts, recording videos, and building a library of resources under Pick Your Path. Each step was part of the bigger plan.

Then, I share how crucial it is to tell others about your dream. I didn’t keep my aspirations to myself—I spoke them out loud, and that led to connections that were vital to my success.

Another key principle is asking for help. When I shared my goal, a dear friend connected me with a publisher who played a crucial role in my journey. Asking for help also meant rallying a launch team who worked tirelessly to help my dream come true.

Of course, none of this would have happened without putting in the work. From writing and editing to working with a team, every bit of effort was necessary to bring my dream to life.

And finally, when a dream is realized, it’s essential to pause and celebrate—and to truly express the gratitude that fills your heart.

I’m thrilled to share that we hit best-seller status in not just three categories in the U.S., but also multiple categories in Canada, Australia, and the U.K. I can't even begin to express how deeply grateful I am for each and every one of you who supported this journey. Whether you downloaded the Kindle version, shared my posts, or simply sent your encouragement—together, we made this dream come true.

If you haven’t grabbed your copy of Pick Your Path yet, now’s the perfect time! Dive into the principles that helped me and so many others find clarity, direction, and success. https://www.amazon.com/Pick-Your-Path-Mental-Autopilot-ebook/dp/B0D6NGKLJP

Let’s continue this journey together—because your dreams matter!

#84 Finding Unlimited Opportunities Through a Shift in Perspective with Patricia Gomez Pimentel Aug 26, 2024
    Show notes

What would you do if you realized you’d hit the ceiling of your potential in your home country?

Welcome back to another episode of Thinking That Matters! I’m truly excited to introduce you to someone extraordinary today—Patricia Pimentel, a woman who dared to dream beyond the limitations placed on her and embodies the essence of resilience, faith, and transformation.

Patricia’s life began in Cuba, where she faced the harsh realities of living under a communist regime. Even with certain privileges, she quickly realized that she was hitting the ceiling of what was possible in her homeland. So, Patricia made the brave decision to leave, first moving to Canada, and later to the United States, in search of greater opportunities and a better life.

In Cuba, Patricia was a professional violinist, but she chose to start fresh in America. After pursuing her education, she became a Certified Public Accountant and is now a successful auditor at KPMG.

In this episode, Patricia opens up about the emotional challenges she faced—leaving her family behind, adjusting to a new culture, and the perseverance required to rebuild her life from scratch. We discuss the stark contrast between the limited opportunities in Cuba and the freedom and possibilities she’s discovered in America. Through it all, her faith has been her anchor, especially during a difficult divorce, where she learned to let go and trust in God’s plan.

Patricia also shares invaluable insights on cultivating thinking that matters. She encourages us to stay rooted in our core values, be discerning in a world full of information, and embrace change as we pursue our dreams.

    Key Takeaways from Our Conversation:

    • Patricia’s perspective on the abundance of opportunities in the U.S. and the importance of appreciating the freedom and possibilities available to us.

    • The value of letting go of control and trusting in God's plan, finding strength in surrendering to a higher power.

    • The significance of knowing our core values and anchoring ourselves in truth, allowing us to navigate life’s complexities with clarity and integrity.

    More about Patricia:

Patricia grew up in Cuba and moved to North America in her early 20s. She was a professional violinist in Cuba before deciding to pursue a different path. After completing her education in Canada and the US, Patricia became a Certified Public Accountant and now works as an auditor for KPMG.
