Good Morning from the farm!
Welcome to another episode of Thinking Outside The Soil, with your host Sean E. Alfalfaseed. Where I get to talk story and touch on topics about hydroponics and the farmers who grow the crops and creatures we need to eat.
Spring is here, which means it's time for planting! But sometimes farmers worry about the weather and how much sunlight their crops will get. Hydroponics is a way to grow plants without soil and worry less about the weather or changing light conditions. During the Vernal Equinox (March 20th), there are 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of nighttime. Soil farmers know this affects how much sunlight their crops get. But with hydroponics, growers can control the environment, including how much light the plants get. This means plants can grow all year.
In the spring, chickens also start to change because of the longer days after the Vernal Equinox. They lay more eggs and grow new feathers. Chicken farmers need to make sure their coops have enough air and are safe from predators.
Overall, hydroponics can help plants grow all year, and chicken farmers need to know the changes that happen during the Vernal Equinox to keep their chickens healthy and happy.
