What Did I Miss? (August 2024 Bonus Episode) Aug 30, 2024

Show notes

We are back with a sizzling new episode of What Did I Miss, joined by Andrew from Your Friendly Neighborhood Gamers and Sid aka Caught Red Headed. We kick off our August bonus episode with unfiltered laughs and unpredictable twists. Andrew keeps the vibes relaxed while we all navigate the wild pop culture landscape of this past month, and Sid, despite her nerves, dives right into the fray. Plus, who can resist a playful Jeopardy game that adds an extra layer of excitement?
Feeling weary of Disney's never-ending sequels and remakes? You're not alone. We dig deep into the fatigue surrounding sequels like Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 and lament the lack of fresh content despite hits like Elemental and Encanto. Our conversation takes a turn towards Marvel’s overused multiverse plots and the return of familiar faces like Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, questioning if these moves are more about grabbing attention than storytelling. Sid and Andrew share their unique perspectives on dealing with leaks in the gaming world, emphasizing the frustration and disappointment they bring to dedicated fans.
To wrap things up, we shift our focus to the latest trends in manga and anime, spotlighting Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, and their commitment to timely conclusions. We discuss the lasting appeal of games like Hi-Fi Rush and end the episode with a fiercely competitive trivia challenge featuring video games and emo music from the early 2000s. It's a nostalgic ride filled with heated debates, hearty laughs, and thoughtful insights, making this episode a must-listen for pop culture enthusiasts.

Late To The Party - The Lego Ninjago Movie Jul 10, 2024

Show notes

Can a movie made of plastic bricks keep you entertained for 90+ minutes? Join us as we humorously journey through our unexpected viewing of The Lego Ninjago Movie. We admit, our decision was purely for the laughs, and let's just say we found ourselves multitasking midway. As expected though, we have to dissect Lego Ninjago, and that means we must highlight the film's star-studded voice cast and praise its animation quality.
But is humor enough to save an underwhelming film? While the infamous "L-Loyd" joke brought some smiles, our excitement dwindles as we discuss the film's pacing, length, and missed opportunities with its talented cast. We hit all the classic beats for this episode, from comparing this to other Lego hits like The Lego Movie and Lego Batman to acknowledging our slightly bitter adult perspectives, we leave no stone unturned—or should we say, no brick unstacked.
Letterbox'd Synopsis: Six young ninjas are tasked with defending their island home of Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors using their skill and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens struggling against their greatest enemy…high school.
