78. I Am The Moon, II. Ascension, Recap Show Jun 30, 2022

Show notes

"Tedeschi Trucks Band announces the most ambitious studio project of their storied career: I Am The Moon, an epic undertaking in four albums with four corresponding films and 24 original songs. Inspired by a mythic Persian tale of star-crossed lovers, and emotionally driven by the isolation and disconnection of the pandemic era, the thematic I Am The Moon totals more than two hours of music, unfolding a robust tapestry of genre-defying explorations that propel the treasured American ensemble into new and thrilling creative territory." -per the band's website. This episode is a recap of the music and film for I Am The Moon, II. Ascension, which I originally livestreamed after the film's premiere.

Show notes

For this episode I preview Tedeschi Trucks Band’s upcoming I Am The Moon, which via TTB’s website says is “an epic undertaking in four albums with four corresponding films and 24 original songs. Inspired by a mythic Persian tale of star-crossed lovers, and emotionally driven by the isolation and disconnection of the pandemic era, the thematic I Am The Moon totals more than two hours of music, unfolding a robust tapestry of genre-defying explorations that propel the treasured American ensemble into new and thrilling creative territory.” I attempted to do my first ever livestream for this episode and promise to have all the kinks worked when I plan to go live again right after the debut of I Am The Moon: I. Crescent film premiere on May 31st. And my apologies in advance if I mispronounced any names in this episode! 74. Bradley Strickland Talks Shooting Photo And Video For Tedeschi Trucks Band May 15, 2022

Show notes

Young photographer and videographer for Tedeschi Trucks Band, Bradley Strickland grew up in Jacksonville, Florida himself, and in a musical family as well. After showing interest in weather photography, he started taking concert photos at the local St. Augustine Amphitheater. He actually grew up playing baseball with Derek’s son, the families kept in touch, and one thing lead to another, and now Bradley is a fairly new member to the TTB team. He’s worked at a few live shows so far, but extensively on the band's I Am The Moon, an epic undertaking of four albums with four corresponding films and 24 original songs coming this year. And we cover all that and more.

71. Jules Leyhe Talks Derek Trucks, Slide Guitar, And His Musical Journey Mar 17, 2022

Show notes

Guitarist -- and slide guitarist, Jules Leyhe is from the Bay Area in California. Jules can always remember music being a special part of his life. Of course we talk tons of Derek and Derek Trucks Band and TTB here, but beyond that he pays homage to so many of the great guitar players who’ve inspired him, slide players or otherwise. He’s played the National Anthem at an Oakland A’s game, been on stage with Buddy Guy, and is a very talented recording artist who I enjoyed chatting with. https://www.youtube.com/c/33sroche/videos, https://instagram.com/julesleyhe, Tedeschi Trucks Podcast on YouTube, http://instagram.com/tedeschitruckspodcast, http://instagram.com/adamchoit, http://twitter.com/adamchoit, http://tedeschitrucksband.com

70. David Choit Talks Being A Regular At The Fillmore East Feb 27, 2022

Show notes

Today we have a special one – with none other than my father, David Choit. A NY born and raised baby boomer, he’s been someone who’s loved music his entire life. From surf rock to The Beatles, to soul to jazz to TTB, my dad has an eclectic taste in music. A guitar player himself who grew up right smack in the middle of the legendary Fillmore East era, his memorable experiences of seeing shows there every weekend was in many ways the focal point of our conversation. Hendrix, The Cream, The Allman Brothers, and more -- my father saw 'em all. 69. Ted Auch Talks A Few TTB Shows, Meeting The Band Feb 16, 2022

Show notes

Today we have past guest of episodes 17 and 53 returning, hardcore Tedeschi Trucks Band fan, Ted Auch. Ted recaps seeing the band on the Fireside Live tour last year in Vermont and New Hampshire, and more recent shows with the band in full force in Chicago -- and in Ted’s neck of the woods up in Ohio for the Akron show. And Ted was lucky to enough to find his way backstage at that Vermont show. And like everyone who crosses paths with them, just gushes about how personable Derek, Susan, and the rest of the band really are.
